The Difficult Escape of a Beauty

I. Escaping the Engagement Banquet Dispute

At the engagement banquet, as Ah Yu resolutely took Lin Wanqing away, chaos erupted instantly. The guests' gasps and whispers mingled together, like a boiling pot. Gu Yanting's face was ashen, his eyes blazing with fury. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white, and his angry roar echoed through the hall: "I will find you all and make you pay!" Meanwhile, Zhong Hua, tears welling in her eyes, was filled with sorrow and despair. Amidst the chaos, she fled the scene, utterly distraught.

After hurriedly leaving the engagement banquet with Lin Wanqing, Ah Yu dared not linger for a moment. They knew full well that Gu Yanting wielded immense power and was ruthless; if they were found, the consequences would be unimaginable. Ah Yu held Lin Wanqing's hand tightly, running through the city's streets and alleys. Lin Wanqing was somewhat panicked, glancing back frequently, her eyes revealing fear and unease. Sensing her tension, Ah Yu softly comforted her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here. I won't let him hurt you." Lin Wanqing nodded slightly, casting a trusting look at Ah Yu.

II. First change of hiding place

The two first arrived at an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. The place was covered in dust and cobwebs, the machinery was askew, and it was a scene of utter desolation. Ah Yu carefully checked the surroundings, and only after confirming there was nothing amiss did he lead Lin Wanqing inside. He found a relatively clean corner and had Lin Wanqing sit down to rest. Lin Wanqing leaned wearily against the wall, her eyes filled with confusion.

"What should we do next?" Lin Wanqing asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Ah Yu frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Let's hide here for a while. Gu Yanting will definitely send people to look for us. We have to be careful."

To reassure Lin Wanqing, A Yu found some old cardboard boxes and hastily built a makeshift barrier, trying to create a sense of security for her. However, not long after, the sound of vehicles approaching suddenly came from outside. The two immediately tensed up. A Yu gestured for Lin Wanqing to be quiet, while he cautiously approached the window to look. Through the dusty glass, he saw several black sedans slowly drive by. Although he couldn't see the people inside, he knew in his heart that these were likely the people Gu Yanting had sent to search for them.

"It seems this place isn't safe; we have to leave immediately," Ah Yu whispered as she returned to Lin Wanqing's side. Without hesitation, Lin Wanqing immediately got up and followed Ah Yu out of the abandoned factory.

III. Thrilling Encounters on the Street

They arrived in the bustling city center, hoping that blending into the crowd might temporarily evade their pursuers. The two weaved through the throngs of people, trying their best to appear inconspicuous. However, Gu Yanting's influence was extensive, and soon, Ah Yu noticed several suspicious individuals loitering around them.

One of the men, dressed in a black suit, kept glancing at them, his eyes revealing a malicious intent. Ah Yu inwardly cursed, and he pulled Lin Wanqing along, quickening his pace to shake off the men. But they seemed determined to follow, keeping up at a leisurely pace.

At a corner, Ah Yu had a sudden inspiration and led Lin Wanqing into a large shopping mall. The mall was crowded with people. They weaved left and right through the crowd, trying to shake off their pursuers. But the men also rushed into the mall, still relentlessly chasing them.

Just as Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing were on the verge of despair, they spotted the mall's employee exit. Without hesitation, Ah Yu grabbed Lin Wanqing and ran towards it. The exit was dimly lit, and they sprinted through it. Behind them, their pursuers shouted, "Don't let them get away!"

Fortunately, they found a door at the end of the passageway leading to the mall's backyard. The two rushed out and found a delivery van parked there, its doors unlocked. Ah Yu quickly pulled Lin Wanqing into the van, started the engine, and sped away from the mall.

IV. The Brief Peace and Tranquility of a Country Inn

After a perilous escape, they arrived at a remote village. It was already late, and both were exhausted and hungry. At the village entrance, they saw a dilapidated little inn. Ah Yu thought it would be relatively safe there, so she and Lin Wanqing went inside.

The hotel owner, a kind old man, noticed their tired appearance and asked with concern, "What happened to you?" Ah Yu quickly made up an excuse, saying they were traveling and had gotten lost. The old man didn't ask any further questions and helped them check in.

Upon entering the room, although it was simple, it was a welcome refuge for the two of them. Ah Yu slumped onto the bed, while Lin Wanqing went to the bathroom to quickly wash up. When she came out and saw Ah Yu's exhausted appearance, a wave of emotion washed over her.

"Thanks to you today, you protected me the whole time," Lin Wanqing said softly.

Ah Yu looked up at Lin Wanqing and smiled, saying, "Don't say that. We're facing this together. As long as you're alright, that's all that matters."

That night, the two found temporary peace in the small country inn. However, they knew that Gu Yanting would not let them off easily, and danger still lurked around them.

V. The Riverside Hut is Full of Danger

The next morning, after a simple meal, Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing decided to continue moving their hiding place. They followed a country path to a riverbank, where an abandoned hut stood. The hut looked quite old, with mottled walls, but it was surrounded by trees, making it relatively secluded.

The two entered the hut, which was filled with a damp smell. Ah Yu looked around and decided that they could take refuge there for a while. They tidied up the hut a bit, making it a little more comfortable.
