The first chapter and the author's note both contain a friendly reminder: please do not be misled by subjective speculation. This is not a stock-picking story; the female protagonist is fickle ...
Chapter 23 Disgusting
Ruan Yi hesitated, worried that Fu Jingchen might be calling about work.
“But he’s my boss now, can I just answer for a second?” Ruan Yi tried to press the answer button.
"What's so great about answering calls on a day off? A good boss should be as quiet as the dead on a day off."
Ruan Yi found his serious tone somewhat amusing. "Oh, I'm an intern, so I can only wait to be ordered around."
Just as I was about to connect, I suddenly felt a tingling sensation in my lower back.
A pair of sinister hands wrapped around the girl from behind, their fingertips reaching out to lightly scratch her waist. He calmly watched as the girl in his arms instantly curled up like a shrimp.
Ruan Yi has many ticklish spots; her lower back, back of the neck, and armpits are very ticklish. "Let...let go!" she laughed until tears streamed down her face.
"Stop...stop, I'll just answer the phone and tell Fu Jingchen I won't be working overtime, okay? Ah! Hahaha..." Before he could finish speaking, he was overwhelmed by a new round of attacks, but he always managed to control the intensity well, so that the girl wouldn't feel too uncomfortable from the tickling.
Gu Zhi's hand had already moved along her waistline to her armpit, deliberately tickling her most ticklish spot, his knuckles slightly bent, lightly touching that sensitive indentation.
Even though he was almost laughing to tears, he didn't stop what he was doing, just softened his movements a bit, and spoke in a gentle tone as if he were coaxing someone.
"I ordered my sister's favorite Japanese food. It's been so long since she's taken me out; I can't even remember the last time we had a 'sibling day' together."
Ruan Yi had long since surrendered to him, panting heavily as she slumped back in her chair, tears of laughter still clinging to her eyelashes, her cheeks flushed slightly.
"It was just an itch."
"Even like this, my sister is so... lewd."
Ruan Yi laughed. There was no such thing as a sibling day. It was just something Gu Zhi made up when he was a kid so that Ruan Yi would take her little brother out to play.
"Fine, I'll go with you, you childish brat."
The phone call, which hadn't been answered for too long, had been disconnected, and new text messages started appearing on my phone.
"Xiao Yi, are you awake? Headquarters has been quite busy lately, so I'm giving you a few days off, paid leave. Don't follow anyone else."
Inside the private jet, the man leaned back in his seat, his long legs casually crossed. He looked down at his phone screen intently, his long fingers tracing the screen, a smile unconsciously playing on his lips and his eyes.
"Also, the little notebook you left in the car, the one you used to secretly learn from others... I brought it with me, I'll help you complete some of your notes."
When he saw the little doodles in her notebook, various ugly chibi-style characters corresponding to different business partners' bosses, the man's lips curved into a deeper smile, and a very soft laugh escaped his throat.
My chest was previously filled with frustration from dealing with difficult matters, but the thought of the owner of these adorable doodles soothed my mood.
The assistant standing next to him looked like he'd seen a ghost. In his memory, the gentlest expression his boss had when handling important business was always expressionless. He'd never seen such a doting look before.
In a daze, he even suspected that the person in the suit and tie had had their soul replaced; it was bizarre, truly bizarre.
Ruan Yi's ears immediately felt hot when she saw the text message.
How embarrassing... She'll never write such a stupid title in that wicked little notebook again.
Who would have thought it would come out of someone else's mouth, especially the person who was learning from him? How incredibly embarrassing!
As Ruan Yi was reading the message, she felt a gaze fixed unabashedly on her face.
"It's not that I'm being asked to work overtime. There might be some urgent matter at the company recently. Fu Jingchen has gone back to headquarters, so I'll probably be able to take a break for a while."
She looked up at Gu Zhi, who seemed afraid she would go to work, and smiled as she patiently explained.
Gu Zhi's expression softened considerably. When he nodded, his eyelashes trembled slightly, and his expression remained calm, as if he already knew the answer.
"The holidays are almost here, so can you spend some time with me, sister?"
He tilted his head and leaned closer, his eyes glistening with tears, but a triumphant smile played on his lips.
His lips curled into a wide, undisguised smile, revealing a slyness that he knew how tolerant his sister was of him.
She was so tolerant that she wanted him to take advantage of her again and again, constantly testing her limits, until she was completely captivated by the girl's alluring softness.
Inside the plane, nestled among the clouds, the man's brow was furrowed.
"President Fu, this attack was highly targeted. They tried to buy out the core patents of our subsidiary's technology line by exploiting vulnerabilities. However, the security department discovered it in time, and they failed. But they still managed to poach two key technical personnel."
Fu Jingchen frowned. The current situation wasn't too dire, but the inability to find any information about the other party was what made things more troublesome.
The most disgusting type of enemy is one who uses underhanded tactics from the shadows without knowing their purpose.
In recent years, NovaVoy has faced fierce competition from various companies in the same industry. It has either dominated or maintained a balance of power. The reason for the core team's relocation back to China is that the company has already achieved a basic monopoly in the industry in its home country.
"The focus of the investigation is shifting to domestic matters."
Who could be the person who has a grudge against him and is willing to spend money and effort to trip him up?
There are very few lunatics who are capable of waging business wars but are clearly deliberately trying to annoy him.
"Huh? But it's the overseas supply chains that are affected." The assistant looked somewhat bewildered.
The man's sinister profile was reflected in the glass porthole. Without further explanation, he merely glanced at the man, and the air pressure inside the plane seemed to drop instantly.
The assistant immediately understood, his fingertips gripping the notebook trembled, and he quickly apologized before beginning the investigation.
How can there be such a big difference? He clearly saw Assistant Ruan and the president interact once.
When Assistant Ruan first joined the company, she was like a curious child, constantly asking "why" questions at work, while President Fu became a book of answers that would automatically read aloud.
If Assistant Ruan were here, that would be great.
After all, as long as Assistant Ruan is around, the president's voice is always hushed, so this freezing situation would never have occurred.
After a long while, the overhead lights in the cabin were dimmed to their lowest setting, with only the desk lamp on the workbench remaining lit, casting a warm yellow glow on the man's distinct face.
After hours of typing, the sound gradually subsided. He leaned back in his leather seat, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly with a weary sigh.
The phone screen lit up, and the man stared at the unchanged chat window, his thumb unconsciously rubbing the edge of the phone.
I haven't replied to him yet, what am I doing?
He wanted to know, to know every single moment of her life, to know what she was thinking and what she was doing.
The night outside the plane window was thick with darkness, but he could clearly hear his own heart pounding.
Has it gotten to the point where he can't control himself anymore? Even his breathing rhythm is affected, and the time spent waiting for a reply can easily disrupt his mind.
But he was happy with it and indulged in this loss of control.
He closed his eyes and briefly spaced out, his tense shoulders slowly relaxing in the silence.
The plan was progressing step by step, but the heart in my chest was pounding like a runaway horse, shattering all calm. In the end, all the meticulous planning could not contain the surging emotions.
"In my dreams, I wish you could be more obedient."
In the illusion, the man clutched that slender figure, the unspoken murmur in his throat turning into a sigh that melted into the long night.
