Before Li Si had retreated far, the illusory picture became fixed, and countless bolts of lightning erupted from in front of the angel, like deadly fireworks in full bloom.

A black mist shield blocked Li Si's path. Li Si covered his head with his hands and, relying on his immense strength, managed to fall backward despite wearing armor, reducing the area he was hit.

The lightning tore through the black mist shield, struck the armor, and exploded on Li Si.

However, because of He Lili's reminder, the angel lost the advantage of surprise attack and did not wait for Li Si to rush to a very close distance before using it.

That was the best opportunity, because when Li Si abandoned all defense and spellcasting and charged forward with all his might, even if he had a backup plan to dodge, he would most likely not have time to use it.

But that opportunity was thwarted.

The unfolding barrage of electric sparks was cone-shaped, making it easy for Li Ai and Dao Nan, who were at the edge, to dodge. Chen Jing also pulled Zhang Tao Ying to the ground, avoiding being hit by most of the electric sparks. The few electric sparks that struck Chen Jing, though scorching and stinging, did not have much destructive power.

Angel's blood-red gaze sharpened. The two maggots she was remotely controlling did not dodge; instead, they relentlessly harassed He Lili.

At this point, there was no one left to save her.

As He Lili dodged the maggots' continuous attacks, she suddenly flicked her hand, which was not holding a pistol, and a pre-prepared scroll was thrown out of her sleeve and unfolded naturally.

It depicts an object resembling a pocket watch, with a gray dial and a central hand radiating a deep blue light.

Tick-tock.

The image on the watch face and she herself vanished instantly.

Countless bolts of electricity struck the maggots, charring them black as they collapsed.

A few seconds later, He Lili reappeared on the spot, the scroll recording the dial in her left hand was now empty, with nothing left.

Under this barrage of comments, the maggots, honey badgers, and the maggot zombies that had been awakened from corpse regeneration were all wiped out in one fell swoop.

He Lili raised her pistol, aimed at the angel, and fired one shot after another.

Chen Jing also got up from the ground, knelt on a maggot-infested corpse in a not-so-standard posture, and shot at the angel.

Dao Nan, Zhang Taoying, and He Lili were fortunate enough to escape serious injury, while Li Aidan's main injuries came from close combat with the maggots.

Li Si stood up, looked behind him, and asked, "Are you all alright?"

Chen Jing thought that when he and so many soldiers were injured, they were said to have only used one Golden Turtle Sea-Diving Pill, dissolved in a pot of water, and even injuries such as broken bones healed in a short time. Now Zhang Taoying only used a pot of water, so the effect should be even better.

After using only half a pot, Li Ai's wound was completely healed; the rest was just a matter of time. Zhang Taoying then used another half pot to treat Chen Jing.

Chen Jing felt an intense itch at the wound where he had been struck by the electric light, but the pain was completely gone.

He turned his head and saw Li Si using his gauntlet-wearing hand to pull something out of the angel's abdomen. It was a round, full, golden sphere surrounded by rings of visible mist, within which seemed to contain hourglasses, giant bells, sundials, scrolls, and other objects.
