Chapter Sixteen Running

Upon arriving at the place where the boats were moored, Chen Jingcai realized that he had underestimated the situation.

The rowboats were stored on special lifting supports. Several escaped prisoners shared the same idea as Chen Jing; they also wanted to operate these supports to lower the rowboats. However, after trying for a long time, they still didn't know how to use them or how to lower the rowboats onto the deck.

As for taking the rowboat off the boat and dropping it onto such a tall vessel, it would most likely capsize!

He miscalculated... Chen Jing looked around and realized that the number of people gathered here had exceeded the capacity of the boats.

It seems that many people share the same idea as Chen Jing, not wanting to escape directly but instead taking a shortcut, and quite a few of them are using boats.

Chen Jing was decisive and didn't linger there. He grabbed his sister Wan Tong and headed towards the dock area.

First, the ship was attacked suddenly, and many sailors had no time to react, nor were they dressed or armed before rushing out of the cabins. The guards on duty at the dock were also caught off guard. But as time went on, their numbers only increased, and the situation became increasingly unsolvable.

Secondly, even if someone knows how to operate the davit, fighting over the small boat will inevitably lead to conflict, waste time, and even injury.

Chen Jing was unwilling to fight these people here. He now understood more and more that people with extraordinary abilities were just ordinary people with special abilities, completely different from cultivators. Even if he were in that situation, he wouldn't have much of an advantage. His strengths lay in stealth and surprise attacks, not in direct confrontation.

Chen Jing looked towards the dock. The more valiant men, following the Black Flag Mercenary Group, had already rushed to the dock area and engaged in a firefight with the garrison there, but the two sides were not on the same level at all.

Because the Black Flag Mercenary Group has a sharpshooter whose bullets are exceptionally accurate and whose range seems to be longer than others, even though the defending troops outnumber them, they are basically suppressed and unable to raise their heads.

But they don't need to eliminate the Black Flag Mercenary Group's forces; they just need to wait for reinforcements.

Run over... want...

Chen Jing calculated in his mind that, as a monster lure, calculating running time was an essential skill.

Two minutes.

Including the time compressed by parkour, if you do some dangerous moves and perform well, you can reduce the time to almost one and a half minutes.

but……

Chen Jing looked at Wan Tong beside him; she was already somewhat weak and lacked strength.

But she remained quiet and silent, without complaining or asking Chen Jing to stop and wait for her.

Chen Jing threw off his cloak and the clothes he was wearing over it, leaving only his own simple, practical clothing. He also threw his straight sword into the river.

Chen Jing said, "I'll carry you on my back, and we'll run out together."

Wan Tong didn't waste any time or try to persuade Chen Jing to abandon her. Instead, she quietly lay on Chen Jing's back.

She wasn't heavy; her slender body felt light as a feather.

Chen Jing took a deep breath and walked to the edge of the ship. He could hear new sailors coming out of the cabin and see more and more guards arriving in the distance.

Further away, a heavy, thin, grayish-white fog permeated the air, obscuring buildings, crowds, and the sky.

Chen Jing took deep breaths before plunging into the "dark sea," desperately trying to share this state with his younger sister, Wan Tong, whom he was carrying.

He seemed to hear gurgling sounds around him, and many terrifying, indescribable, mysterious sounds whispering in his ear.

He felt as if his whole body was being touched by some kind of slippery, soft object, and then those objects were pulling him deeper.

He felt a sharp, stabbing pain between his eyebrows, and his mind spun around.

He said, "Hold on tight."

run!

Chen Jing ran with long strides.

My mind was completely blank; I just ran according to the pre-arranged plan, relying solely on instinct.

Charge off the dock!

By bending his knees to absorb the force, he then rotated his body.

Bullets whizzed around me, flames scorched every breath I took, and the groans of the wounded filled my ears.

run!

Out of the corner of Chen Jing's eye, he saw a "priest" dressed in black armor and dressed as a knight appear on the battlefield of guns and fire. The sharpshooter of the Black Flag Mercenary Group raised his gun and aimed at him. Just as he was about to fire, the corpse on the ground suddenly reached out and grabbed the sharpshooter's foot!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The surrounding Black Flag mercenary group members rushed to their aid, blasting the corpses to pieces with bullets.

"A corpse driver! It's a corpse driver!"

A mercenary from the Black Flag Mercenary Group shouted loudly. It was a young man with a scholarly air, a slender build, and deep black eyes. But his tone was completely inconsistent with his demeanor; he was shouting with a hint of fear.

The corpses that had been knocked down by bullets stood up one by one, surrounding the black-armored priest, and marched towards the Black Flag Mercenary Group.

"Smash their skulls! Attack their legs! Break their spines!"

The Black Flag mercenary group members, exuding an air of scholarly refinement, shouted loudly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Undeterred by the gunfire, the corpses advanced toward the dock, sacrificing their lives for the cause.

The sharpshooter switched to a different rifle and took aim again.

This black-armored knight was the one Chen Jing had escorted when he infiltrated the ship; the one known as the "priest"!

He must have been somewhere not far away when he heard the cries for help, so he brought people back!

Chen Jing suspected that he could see through his invisibility!

Bang!

The sharpshooter opened fire, but a semi-transparent shield of condensed black energy appeared in front of the corpse driver, striking his full-body armor without seemingly affecting the corpse driver's speed.

"You can't break through him! He's a corpse driver! With double protection, you have to hit a vital point to hurt him!" the scholarly young man quickly said. "A corpse driver's body is stronger than a zombie's!"
