Wen Yixing was married to Fang Shiyan for seven years. One day, a system appeared on her body, telling her that this world was actually a book, and she was the weak mother of the villain who died e...
It's already 9 p.m., but the streets outside are still bustling with traffic.
The temperature was still high at night. After coming out, Wen Yixing took a breath of fresh air and her mind became much clearer.
She didn't want to take a taxi back at that time, and was about to take the subway when she looked up and saw a tall figure near the subway station.
Wen Yixing paused for two seconds, then walked towards him. "What are you doing here?"
Shen Jingshao was dressed casually today. He walked towards her, carrying some food in his hand.
He looked down at her and handed her the bag in his hand: "I've come to pick you up."
Wen Yixing took the bag and looked down at the contents. It turned out to be some snacks, including bread, spicy duck heads and wings, which were her favorite treats in the past.
"What did you have for dinner?" Shen Jingshao didn't miss the fleeting joy in her eyes.
He knew that she used to love eating these things when she was in school.
Duck products like these always sell out very quickly in the school cafeteria. Shen Jingshao had seen this many times in the cafeteria. She stood on tiptoe in front of the transparent glass cabinet, looking down to pick out her favorite duck products.
"I ate steamed buns." Wen Yixing, still looking at the contents of the bag, answered Shen Jingshao's question without looking up.
Shen Jingshao frowned: "Steamed buns?"
Wen Yixing then realized what it meant and smiled, "Hmm, have you ever tried it? It's one of those sweet steamed buns, it's sweet inside, and it tastes pretty good."
On the bustling street, her smile was so dazzling that Shen Jingshao's gaze couldn't help but linger on her face for a few more seconds.
Although she hadn't spent much time with him, Wen Yixing could understand what he was thinking.
His gaze towards her made no attempt to conceal his thoughts, and even Wen Yixing belatedly felt her face burning.
Wen Yixing clenched the plastic bag in her hand, looked away, and said casually, "I'm a little hungry, shall we sit over there?"
She pointed to a bench on the street not far away, then looked up at Shen Jingshao.
Shen Jingshao smiled, leaned closer, and took her hand directly: "Okay."
Under the warm yellow streetlights, Wen Yixing opened the box and ate a spicy duck neck. "This kind of super spicy food can't possibly be eaten at home?"
Shen Jingshao bent down to open the box for her. "Because of Yao Yao?"
“Hmm.” Wen Yixing nodded. “He’s too young to eat a lot of spicy food, or he’ll get diarrhea. When I eat it at home, he wants some too. He always looks at me pitifully, which makes me feel a little bad.”
Her eyes always light up when she talks about her children.
Shen Jingshao looked at her and couldn't help but smile: "You can eat it secretly in the future."
Wen Yixing looked up at him: "I used to eat it secretly too."
Under the streetlights, her skin appeared even more delicate and fair, and her beautiful almond-shaped eyes stared straight at him.
Shen Jingshao's eyes unconsciously deepened, and he stared at her without blinking.
The atmosphere was a bit off. Wen Yixing realized this and looked away.
Even though she wasn't afraid of him, Wen Yixing still couldn't bring herself to kiss him on a busy street.
She lowered her head, not wanting to speak, and just focused on eating her duck neck.
This was the time when high school students in the vicinity finished their evening self-study session. Students rode bicycles past on the roadside, and students in school uniforms went to convenience stores to eat together.
Wen Yixing looked up at the figures of these young people and unconsciously thought of her own high school days.
She was a boarding student at the school during high school, and life at school was rather boring. Back then, she liked to go to the school's small supermarket after evening self-study sessions.
Her favorite supermarket was the small one on the east side of the school, not because it was less crowded or because it was on the way, but because Fang Shiyan liked to shop there.
She liked Fang Shiyan back then, but she just wanted to see him more, even though she knew Fang Shiyan wouldn't pay much attention to her.
There are quite a few people in the school who like Fang Shiyan, and many others like her, which makes the small supermarket, which is already crowded, even more crowded after evening self-study.
Occasionally, when she was in line to pay, she would be surprised to find herself paying next to Fang Shiyan, and she would be secretly happy for a long time that night.
As these memories became clearer, Wen Yixing gradually recalled that in those years, she would occasionally encounter a few sports students in the small supermarket at night.
The athletes are generally tall, especially in the summer, when they like to wear sports vests that expose their arms.
Back then, I don't know who spread the rumor at school that the school's sports students were not easy to mess with, that they often got into fights with thugs outside, and that several of them almost got expelled from school.
The class teacher even mentioned this in front of the whole class, which made her friends quite afraid of the sports students in the school.
Wen Yixing also didn't want to associate with such people at the time.
Whenever she encounters athletes, she almost never gives them a second glance.
But now that she thinks about it carefully, she must have often run into Shen Jingshao at the school supermarket before, where he would often be queuing behind her.
Thinking of this, Wen Yixing looked up at Shen Jingshao and slowly asked, "Shen Jingshao, did you used to like going to the supermarket at night to buy things?"
Shen Jingshao: "Hmm?"
Wen Yixing continued, "I remember always running into you at the small supermarket at school."
Shen Jingshao looked at her: "You still remember?"
Wen Yixing nodded: "Yes, I remember."
“Yes, I really liked going to the convenience store back then.” Shen Jingshao paused, “but not to buy anything.”
