Wen Chu inexplicably transmigrated into a world where the plot development was random but the overall style was melodramatic. Her mission was to conquer the male lead of this world—Lu Ming.
Chapter 27 Why are you a five-pointed star?
"Next—" The system paused for two seconds before changing its tone again: "Detected that the male lead's affection for the host has increased significantly and is about to break through 30%! Please keep up the good work, host!"
Wen Chuxin trembled.
The system, devoid of emotion, simply and insensitively reiterated the rules at this critical moment: "The next stage is 50%. Once the male lead's affection level surpasses 50%, the initialization time will be changed to once every two months, and all of the male lead's memories will no longer be erased!"
"Note: After midnight tonight, the male lead will be reset again, and his affection level will be reset to 0%."
Wen Chu burst into tears of joy. Do you know how much she sacrificed for this? She immediately bit Lu Ming to stop this absurd scene.
Lu Ming winced in pain, stopped, and frowned again. Before she could speak, Wen Chu hugged him tightly, feigning a weak and innocent look: "No, I'm still very scared. Something will happen if we don't take precautions, and I'm also very afraid of pain. Do you... have experience?" She rolled her eyes in the man's arms, frantically thinking of a solution.
“I…” Lu Ming looked troubled.
"And you'd better think it through, whether you really want to accept me." Wen Chu looked at him again, her eyes misty, and said pitifully, "I'm Wen Chu, not Wen Xue. Don't mistake me for her. If you sleep with me tonight, you'll have to completely break up with Wen Xue, and there will be no possibility between you two anymore!"
She repeatedly mentioned Wen Xue in order to increase the weight of the initial setting in Lu Ming's mind, awaken the primitive memories that he had gradually forgotten in the corner, and hope that this could restore his rationality.
As expected, Lu Ming broke free from her embrace, as if waking from a dream.
He abruptly removed her hand, got off her, and distanced himself from her again.
But before Wen Chu could even catch her breath, the other person pressed down on her again, as if changing their mind. Her heart skipped a beat, and she almost lost her composure.
What happened? Even the warm snow isn't working anymore?
“Hey…” She subconsciously took half a step back.
Lu Ming pulled the blanket over her and wrapped her up like a spring roll, covering her completely. Then he warned in a low voice, "If you're scared, you'd better stay inside and behave yourself. Don't come out, don't make a sound, and don't listen."
"But like this, I... I'm a little hot..."
"Shut up!"
"oh."
Lu Ming rubbed his temples vigorously to keep himself awake, and his peripheral vision inadvertently caught sight of the burning incense by the bedside, causing him to squint.
I don't recall their hotel having this feature at all.
"Where did this come from?"
Wen Chu peeked out, following the person's gaze, and said, "The cleaning lady gave it to me, saying it helps with sleep and freshens the air. Are you saying there's something wrong with it?"
Lu Ming decisively went over and extinguished it, flushed it into the sewer, and quickly turned on the exhaust fan for ventilation.
Then he slammed the bathroom door shut.
Soon the sound of water came. Wen Chu kept her promise and refused to listen. She covered her ears and listened to her own heartbeat still pounding.
That scared me so much I almost had a heart attack.
She glanced at her phone, which had fallen onto the bed, and realized it was past 10:30. An hour and a half later, the other person's feelings and memories of her would reset. However, everything that happened today was related to the main storyline, so the other person should remember it.
She had never been so grateful for the system's reset rule.
"Lu Ming, you beast in human clothing, you hypocrite!" Wen Chu buried her face in the quilt, touched her lips which were still a little numb from being kissed, and the heat on her face had not completely subsided.
How can someone who usually seems so proper and abstinent be so lewd!
She poured her heart out to him a few days ago, doing everything she could to win him over, but nothing worked. Just now, a simple kiss from him, and his affection level skyrocketed to 30%? She never imagined that this breakthrough would be achieved by using her looks! Damn!
Is this a legitimate strategy mission?
With only 20% favorability, he was already tempted to do something inappropriate under the influence of aphrodisiacs. What would happen if it were 50%? Would he eat her alive if it were 100%?
Wen Chu curled herself up like a silkworm cocoon, unable to help but worry about her future.
The system was definitely up to no good.
Could it be that the danger mentioned earlier all came from Lu Ming himself? Wen Chu recalled how he locked her in his house yesterday, and then she thought of those crazy-looking paintings hanging in his house. Could this guy be hiding a yandere beneath his serious mask?
She wrapped her little blanket even tighter.
Lu Ming stayed inside for almost an hour before coming out, and Wen Chu was almost asleep under the covers.
Feeling the bed sink beside her, she woke up with a start and quickly sat up. "How are you? Are you still feeling unwell?"
The aphrodisiac scent in the air had dissipated considerably, and Lu Ming felt much better when he came out again; at least he wouldn't lose control like before.
His hair was wet and hung down his forehead, his voice low and hoarse: "The wine and incense are both problematic. Otherwise, you would have been infected too."
"How come you rich people can find all sorts of strange and unusual things? It's impossible to guard against them all."
Lu Ming glared at her.
Wen Chu quickly corrected herself: "They, it was them..."
"Thank goodness I didn't drink it..." she muttered, otherwise things would be completely out of control. She probably didn't have that much self-control.
"So your brother drugged that bottle of wine, and everyone drank it, but only those who smelled the incense had such a strong reaction?"
"Fine? You're glad nothing happened between us?" Lu Ming only paid attention to the first half of the sentence.
"What? I'm not as casual as you think. Even if I like you, I don't want to have a relationship with you so carelessly, okay? Am I that unscrupulous and indiscriminate?" Wen Chu rolled her eyes and pointed fingers from her moral high ground.
Lu Ming lowered his eyes and chuckled softly, then looked up at her again, "If something really happens tonight, I will take responsibility for you no matter what. Isn't that what you want?"
Wen Chu frowned in disdain. "Who cares if you take responsibility? I want your heart, not your body."
Lu Ming said irritably, "Then you're quite arrogant."
"You still doubt me? Please, if I really thought that way, why would I need to go through all this trouble, switching cards and drugging me? I could just find an opportunity to force myself on you, there are plenty of opportunities!"
Lu Ming frowned at her crude and blunt remarks: "I'm not as casual as you think. I'm afraid you won't have a second chance."
Wen Chu tilted her head and looked him over. It seemed that he had indeed improved a bit since he could now make sarcastic remarks about her.
She hummed in response and asked with concern, "Are you thirsty? Would you like some water?"
Lu Ming glanced at her mouth subconsciously, the desire in his eyes just beginning to show before he suppressed it again.
"I'm exhausted. Don't talk or do anything unnecessary." Lu Ming closed his eyes, let out a nearly exhausted sigh, lay down, put his hand on his arm, and stopped looking at her.
Wen Chu sat there, a little lost. "Then, then I'll sleep on the floor?"
Lu Ming moved his arm away a little, half-closed his eyes and glanced at her sideways, replying vaguely, "You can sleep wherever you want."
The man had handsome features, but his eyes revealed weariness and vulnerability, and even a glimpse of them was enough to stir one's heart.
Wen Chu glanced at the seat next to Lu Ming, but quickly dismissed the idea. She turned over and prepared to get out of bed. "It's okay, there's a sofa. I'll sleep on the sofa."
Suddenly, the person behind her hugged her from behind and pulled her down onto the bed together.
"?" Wen Chu lay on the bed, not daring to move.
After a while, she felt the man gently press his forehead against her back, and his arms tightened around her, causing her back to stiffen involuntarily.
"Hey, what's going on..." Wen Chu asked nervously.
"Don't go, let me hold you for a while." Lu Ming's breathing was still heavy, his voice hoarse, and his tone was pleading.
When Wen Chu touched his arm, it wasn't as hot as before, but it was still much hotter than hers.
She stared blankly at the white pillow in front of her. The man's deep voice burned her ears, and her heart felt strange.
A flush rose to her face again. She blinked slowly, her grip on the man's hand loosening as she tried to push him away. Finally, she whispered an "oh."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ming seemed to hug her even tighter.
Wen Chu rested her head on his arm, maintaining this side-hugging embrace, quietly feeling each other's breath and the rise and fall of their chests.
"Are you still feeling unwell?" she couldn't help but ask.
What do you think?
Wen Chu bit her lip. Had the effects of the medicine worn off yet? Probably not.
"Then, then you should go to sleep. You'll feel better after a good night's rest."
Lu Ming hummed in agreement.
"I...I turned off the lights?"
"Um."
Wen Chu carefully got up, reached for the light switch by the bedside, and turned off the overhead light.
The room suddenly plunged into darkness and became completely quiet, with only the low hum of the air conditioner running.
She was exhausted after a long day, and the faint scent of the man made her sleepy. Just as she was about to lose consciousness and shut down her phone, she suddenly heard a very soft voice behind her ask, "Can you tell me why you are a five-pointed star?"
"Huh?" Wen Chu didn't understand.
But the person behind him began to breathe heavily.
The clock struck midnight.
A system voice came from above the room: "Initializing the male protagonist."
Wen Chu's heart tightened, and she sighed helplessly. She silently removed Lu Ming's hand from her body, turned around to face him, and tried to see his sleeping face clearly in the darkness.
"You fell asleep before you even finished speaking... What five-pointed star... " Wen Chu glared at the sleeping man angrily, then patted his face. "Get up, get up! Don't sleep! Explain yourself!"
The man showed no signs of waking up. He only frowned slightly before relaxing, his breathing becoming even and steady, as if the pain in his body had been erased along with his memory.
Wen Chu looked helpless, wanting to retaliate by punching the person again.
"Hey, this face is still pretty good-looking. If he weren't so sharp-tongued and so stubborn, he would be perfect." Wen Chu reached out and touched Lu Ming's eyebrows and eyes, then her gaze fell on the man's mouth.
She withdrew her hand, then tapped her lips with her index finger, a hint of annoyance on her face.
I wonder what Lu Ming is doing in real life, and what state she is in. Could it be that she suddenly died in her sleep and is in a coma in the hospital, on the verge of death?
She sighed; the task ahead was arduous and the road ahead was long.
"Goodnight, you deadbeat Lu Ming." Wen Chu pinched his cheek. "You won't remember me again tomorrow."
