Chapter 35 The Tissopone

Although the curly-haired boy sighed, his tone was quite cold as he spoke, "In three days, most of the newcomers will disappear from here, and if one or two are left after five days, they will be lucky."

Cheng Shuang thought about everything she had experienced: hundreds of people lost their lives in an instant, but at least the survivors had activated their innate skills and could make brief adjustments at the rest stations. The so-called newcomers, if they were lucky enough to survive, would probably have to navigate between one cycle of reincarnation and another.

Moreover, a one-day protection period is far too short.

The little girl sighed understandingly, resting her chin on her hand like a little adult, quiet and well-behaved.

Hei Zishan looked at her and said with a smile, "So little girl, be a good girl and listen to me. If your brother can lend you a hand, he might be able to save your life at a critical moment!"

“Oh, by the way, this guy’s name is Lie Fu. We’ve been through three rounds.” He patted the curly-haired boy, then looked at Du Jun, “Time to exchange information, buddy!”

Du Jun: "Du Jun has gone through two rounds."

"My name is Cheng Shuang." The little girl smiled, and as soon as she finished speaking, her gaze stopped at the restaurant entrance. At this moment, several more customers arrived, among whom a mother and son attracted everyone's attention.

The mother was about thirty years old, dressed fashionably, but looked haggard.

She still had makeup on her face, and for some reason, it wasn't completely removed. Her eyeliner was patchy, making her eyes look even redder and more tired. Yet, she stared wide-eyed, her gaze darting away from the crowd.

The little boy, only six or seven years old, was hiding tightly behind his mother's legs. His sallow face showed fear and unease. He would call out "Mom" from time to time, trying to get comfort from the woman. Unfortunately, his mother never turned around to pay attention to him.

Unlike the subtle glances that had previously lingered on Cheng Shuang, almost everyone couldn't help but look at the little boy.

Among those present, besides Cheng Shuang, the youngest was a girl of sixteen or seventeen, wearing a school uniform, sitting at a round table with an indifferent expression. The oldest was no more than fifty, and was one of the people at the four-person table.

Clearly, the little boy's age defied everyone's expectations.

Especially when the mother and son sat down at a round table that wasn't full, guided by the waiter, many people's curious expressions immediately changed, revealing a hint of hostility.

The person at the table immediately looked away, consciously avoiding the woman's questioning and pleading gaze.

Cheng Shuang recognized the mother; she was the fashionable woman from the seventh floor.

"Such a young child?" Hei Zishan was extremely shocked, his eyes filled with sympathy. Then, he turned to Cheng Shuang and said with a complicated expression, "You are a maintainer, right? It seems that the newcomer is tacitly a tourist in a group tour."

“There’s an age limit for maintainers, between eighteen and fifty years old.” Lie Fu stroked his curly hair, quite puzzled. “Are you perhaps disabled in terms of height?”

"No! She really is a twelve-year-old child!" Someone suddenly interjected from behind. A white-haired youth walked to Cheng Shuang's side with his hands in his pockets, his eyes crinkling with a smile. "You actually have such a young protector! I'm really curious about your skills. Perhaps the Gate of Reincarnation will give a child like you some kind of preferential treatment!"

He didn't lower his voice, and at least the maintenance staff at the two-person tables around him heard him clearly. Immediately, the gazes that had been lingering on the little boy turned back to him, full of curiosity.

Du Jun, who had been expressionless, was slightly taken aback and became wary of the white-haired youth.

Cheng Shuang tilted her head and smiled, "Uncle, does the Gate of Reincarnation still give people preferential treatment? Don't we all depend on ourselves for life and death here?"

The white-haired youth paused, then his smile widened, his long eyes curving into tiny crescents. "Oh dear! What a clever little devil!"

The middle-aged woman with him had already found a two-person table and sat down. She looked somewhat impatient, but she didn't say anything to stop the white-haired young man's actions.

Because of his smiling, squinty eyes, the white-haired youth looked extremely sincere and friendly. "A good child should be polite. Why didn't you answer the question truthfully when the older brother asked you a question?"

Cheng Shuang puffed out her cheeks, "Before I could answer, you threw me down and left!"

"You're bullying such a young child!" Kuroko looked at the white-haired man with disdain. He was about to say something when Hunter held his arm down.

“Sir, we have something else to discuss.” Lie Fu smiled politely and looked up at the middle-aged woman. “I see your companion has been waiting for quite a while. Let’s talk another time.”

“Fine!” The white-haired youth readily agreed, shrugging. “Since you’re choosing to team up with a kid, then I have nothing more to say.” With that, he scoffed and turned to leave.

"We haven't thought about forming a team yet." Ignoring Hei Zishan's hesitation, Lie Fu, with a serious expression on his baby face, said clearly, "Little sister Cheng Shuang, you should understand that here, age doesn't matter, only ability does."

“I understand!” Cheng Shuang nodded. “My skills are related to dolls.”

"Mine is related to games."

"Hey! You two are too cunning!" Kuroko Han was speechless.

"I don't think it's a good thing to reveal my skills here." The little girl sighed, her small face showing that it wasn't that she was uncooperative, but rather that she was very cautious.

“But we can share some information,” Du Jun interjected.

The other two nodded in agreement, and to show their sincerity, they briefly introduced their skills.

Kuroko's weapon is a pair of boxing gloves, while Liefu's is a fan.

“I found the itinerary in the mailbox.” Du Jun took out a folded newspaper from his pocket and unfolded it on the table. “From it, I can see that this is the first day of boarding the cruise ship, and there is a mandatory activity.”
