"Peng Jiamu found Shi Zhongwen and told him that he and I had already had physical contact, but we hadn't taken the final step. We were planning to keep it for our wedding night. However, he had seen my whole body, and he said I had a small butterfly mark on my waist.

If he had set up a business contract to trick me, I could still understand it, after all, I was the one who owed him a debt of gratitude.

But I was shocked and angry at his fabrication of such a rumor. He bribed my sisters and the young girls in my family who didn't marry into the family, and found out that I did have a butterfly spot on my body. He used this to sow suspicion in my husband's mind.

Once the two were combined, the Peng family would be very powerful.

The patriarch and elders of the Peng family naturally wanted to buy this land. Upon inquiring, they found out that the land belonged to the Shi family.

The second incident was that a young maid from the Peng family who fetched water for bathing died inexplicably. My former sister, having accepted money from Peng Jiamu, told him that I did have a butterfly-like lump on my waist, and she was so frightened that she quickly ran to the county capital to hide.

The mother-in-law found the little sister, promised to provide protection, asked her to write down what happened, sign and seal it, then sent her to the farm and found a team of people to protect her.

With these two things in mind, my mother-in-law discussed with Peng Jiamu and the other family elders that the feng shui land could be given to the Peng family, or they could choose not to sue Peng Jiamu for defamation. However, the Peng family would also have to do two things: invalidate the contract, and not pay a penny in compensation. Apologize to me and clarify the facts.

Peng Jiamu was unwilling to do so, saying that he would fight to the death, since he was already a bad guy anyway.

He was also unwilling to listen to the advice of the clan leader. In his opinion, these clan elders were the ones who had harmed him in the past.

The mother-in-law said that, in fact, the Shi family could certainly come up with 50,000 silver coins, but what bothered her was actually this contract. The Shi family had signed such a contract before, and had kept a backup at the middleman's office. In the eyes of the mother-in-law, it was like a stain on the Shi family. She said that she was just like those elders who wanted a Feng Shui treasure land, and she was obsessed with wanting to erase this contract from the root.

And from a business perspective, a piece of land worth no more than two thousand taels of silver is naturally a good deal if it can be exchanged for fifty thousand taels.

The clan leader and elders were still trying to persuade Peng Jiamu. Peng Jiamu had a younger brother who was the apple of his eye. He said that the person he held in his heart was me, and I threw him into the mud.

Only his younger brother, who admired and trusted him, remained as kind to him as ever. Now, his younger brother was the only person he still cared about in the world.

Even his parents had done the same thing as the clan leaders, for the sake of profit, they had forced him to give up and break off the engagement. He had wanted to make a scene, but they had stopped him.

The clan leader said that if the Shi family really accused him of spreading rumors and causing trouble, no matter how severe the punishment was, as long as he was accused of this crime, his younger brother would be the younger brother of a criminal, and it would affect his marriage plans and imperial examinations.

He was persuaded, but asked to meet with me. My mother-in-law flatly refused, and the matter was stuck here again.

After I heard about it, I did the second stupid thing and went to see Peng Jiamu. My mother-in-law originally thought that the relationship between my husband and I could still be salvaged. After all, what Peng Jiamu said was just a rumor. But my husband seemed to have lost his heart towards me at this point, and he would not listen to my mother-in-law's persuasion.
