When it came time to cook, Gu Xichen wouldn't let Jiang Jinxiu do it herself, but instead had Jiang Jinxiu, the strategist, guide him from the side.

Men and women working together makes the work less tiring.

In the end, Gu Xichen's dish tasted almost exactly the same as Jiang Jinxiu's.

For this, he even asked Jiang Jinxiu for a few kisses as a reward.

Jiang Jinhua returned as if he had known in advance.

Before the person was even seen, the voice came first.

Gu Xichen guessed that this was his wife's brother-in-law.

Jiang Jinxiu brought out the dishes and saw that he had a blade of grass in his mouth and was dangling another one in his hand, looking like a scoundrel.

I wonder where he went off to have some fun today.

"You better walk properly, what kind of behavior is this? Be careful Dad sees you and beats you again."

"The emperor is far away, my dad can't touch me. Hehe..."

Jiang Jinhua acted as if she feared nothing.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Jinxiu immediately put down the bowl in her hand, went over and grabbed his ear: "Then tell me, can I hit you in place of Dad?"

A deep male voice sounded behind Jiang Jinhua.

Jiang Jinhua turned around abruptly and saw a man who was half a head taller than him standing behind him.

The man was burly, his bare arms were all muscle, and there were fine beads of sweat on them.

When Jiang Jinhua looked up and saw his face, she felt a sharp pain in her mind.

He shook his head with both hands, crying out in pain, "Sister, it hurts so much!"

Before Jiang Jinxiu could react, he fainted.

It was only thanks to Gu Xichen's quick reflexes that he caught him, preventing him from having a close encounter with the ground.

Jiang Jinxiu was completely frightened by Jiang Jinhua's reaction.

She was trembling all over; she was terrified that something might happen to Jiang Jinhua.

"Honey, don't be afraid, I'll carry him inside first. Go and call Dr. Hai."

Upon hearing Gu Xichen's words, Jiang Jinxiu turned and ran outside, tears streaming down her face as if they were free.

Yang Dongmei and Gu Xilan had just finished work and arrived at the door when they saw Jiang Jinxiu rushing out without a care in the world. They called her several times, but she didn't respond.

Yang Dongmei was very worried and hurriedly told Gu Xilan to follow her, fearing that something might happen to her.

She entered the courtyard and saw Gu Xichen coming out of the house. Thinking that Gu Xichen had bullied her, she said, "Third brother, when did you get back? Why are you bullying your wife as soon as you get back? I think you deserve a beating."

As he spoke, he raised the carrying pole in his hand, ready to strike Gu Xichen.

Gu Xichen didn't flinch, and immediately grabbed the carrying pole firmly: "Mother, you've misunderstood. How could I bear to bully her? Her younger brother fainted. Could you please check on him? He's in our room. I'll go see her."

After saying that, he turned and ran outside.

Yang Dongmei then realized that she had misunderstood him.

She quickly put her things down and went to see Jiang Jinhua.

Old Gu has just returned from watering the vegetables in his private plot.

Seeing Gu Xichen running into the distance, he was still a little confused. Why was the third brother running so fast?

He was waving his hands as he spoke.

Jiang Jinxiu was startled. She gripped his hands tightly and asked, "Xiaohua, Xiaohua, what's wrong with you?"

"Sister, sister, please don't marry that bastard, I beg you," Jiang Jinhua pleaded, crying.

Jiang Jinxiu didn't know who the bastard he was talking about was. Could it be Gu Xichen?

That's impossible; they've never even met.

However, in order to appease Jiang Jinhua, Jiang Jinxiu could only coax him gently: "Okay, okay, I promise you, I won't marry him."

But Gu Xichen, who had returned, witnessed this scene.

His eyes were deep, and his whole demeanor had darkened considerably.

He even gently closed the door behind him.

Yang Dongmei called him, but he didn't respond and ran straight outside.
