Intelligent and Protective Young Lady VS Gentle and Reserved Young Master.
Miss Hua Fushu, the eldest daughter of the Hua family, has a fiancé who is the legitimate son of the Grand General&...
Hua Fushu asked, "Are you the general's wife?"
The beautiful woman was neither surprised nor angry at the noise. She seemed to know Hua Fushu's identity. She smiled gently and asked, "Don't you think so?"
Hua Fushu originally thought that the general's wife would be angry because of her rudeness, but suddenly realized that she was worrying too much.
This lady's aura was as elegant as a pear blossom, which was completely different from her mother. Her mother also came from a wealthy family and received an excellent education. Whenever her mother mentioned her, she would get furious.
Hua Fushu walked over and bowed, saying, "Hua Fushu greets the general's wife."
Sanqiao followed and stood to the right and rear of Hua Fushu, bowing and saying, "This servant greets the General's wife."
Madam Ouyang was slightly taken aback when she saw Hua Fushu's bow. She handed the scissors in her hand to the maid beside her, then stepped forward to help her up and said softly, "My dear niece, there is no need to be so polite. Just treat it as your own home."
Hua Fushu stood up straight. Madam Ouyang signaled Sanqiao not to be polite. Sanqiao thanked him before standing up.
Madam Ouyang tilted her head and said, "This is the eldest daughter of the Hua family master."
Two women stood beside Madam Ouyang. One was about forty years old, slightly plump, and wore a dark hemp shirt. She was holding a bamboo basket filled with pear blossoms and a pair of scissors in the basket.
The other maid was about the same age as Sanqiao. She was wearing a green dress and had a pretty appearance, willow-shaped eyebrows, and cherry lips.
The two women roughly understood Hua Fushu's identity and bowed in greeting. Hua Fushu nodded.
Madam Ouyang said to the middle-aged woman and the maid in green, "Ayu, bring some cakes and pastries. Cuizhi, serve the tea."
The middle-aged woman A Yu and the green-clothed maid Cui Zhi received the order and went down to prepare.
Madam Ouyang took Hua Fushu's hand and walked towards the pavilion, with Sanqiao following behind.
Madam Ouyang and Hua Fushu sat down, and Sanqiao stood behind Hua Fushu.
Hua Fushu adapted quickly to being alone with Madam Ouyang and showed no signs of discomfort.
Madam Ouyang said, "My child, I know you are a man of your own ideas. Zelin has spoken to his father about the Xianhua Guild Hall. Breaking off the engagement is no small matter; it would damage a girl's reputation. Are you really not considering it?"
Hua Fushu looked at Madam Ouyang, who seemed to be hesitant to speak, and finally spoke: "Aunt, please forgive me. I have really thought it through."
Madam Ouyang gathered her shawl, the jade crabapple hairpins on her bun swaying gracefully, rippling the waves and drawing beautiful curves. After a long pause, she said, "Hua'er, Shiheng has told me everything you said when you came to the mansion that day. Your uncle and I don't care about a person's family background. You should believe this. Zelin really wanted to marry you. He was very sad when he learned that you ran away from the marriage. Now that you're back, his father and I hope that you can start anew."
Hua Fushu could never have imagined that two years ago, Ye Zelin had the idea of marrying her, but she couldn't go back. Even if she could go back to two years ago, she still would not choose to marry Ye Zelin.
A sense of guilt arose spontaneously, but Hua Fushu felt that she should not hesitate too much. "Uncle and aunt, Fushu has made up her mind. The second young master is a shining pearl in the world, and he will find a better man to spend his life with."
Mrs. Ouyang had tears in the corners of her eyes and she wiped them away with a white handkerchief. Seeing this, Hua Fushu was at a loss. She wanted to say something but didn't know how to start.
Madam Ouyang said, "Let's not talk about this anymore. Just live well in the Ye family and don't be shy. Just treat it as your own home. I have a daughter named Ruhuan, who is a few years younger than you. If you want to play with her, go find her in the Painting Tower."
The flowers are lush and flourishing.
A moment later, Ayu and Cuizhi arrived with tea and snacks, and a young woman came with them.
The young woman walked to Mrs. Ouyang's side and called her mother.
Ayu and Cuizhi placed the snacks on the table.
Hua Fushu looked towards the young woman, curious about who she was. At this moment, the young lady also looked towards Hua Fushu and said with a smile, "She must be the eldest daughter of the Hua family, Sister Fushu."
Hua Fushu stood up and looked at the young woman. She was about 15 years old. She wore a skirt that reached her chest, and her hair was tied up in a bun with a pomegranate flower hairpin. Her eyebrows were like crescent moons, and her nose was slightly raised. She was as bright as spring flowers and as clear as the autumn moon.
She was Dugu, the wife of Ye Shiheng's eldest son Ye Yunlu, and her maiden name was Lanxi.
Hua Fushu didn't know her and didn't know how to address her.
Madam Ouyang pointed the woman to Hua Fushu and said, "Hua'er, you don't know her. She is my eldest daughter-in-law, Dugu Lanxi. You can just call her sister-in-law."
Hua Fushu suddenly understood that Madam Ouyang had two sons and one daughter. The eldest son was named Ye Yunlu, and this young woman was Ye Yunlu's wife.
Hua Fushu bowed and saluted, "Sister-in-law."
Dugu Lanxi smiled softly and placed Hua Fushu on the seat, "Sit down."
Dugu Lanxi sat down beside Hua Fushu and pushed the teacup in front of her. "Sister, have some tea."
Hua Fushu thanked her but didn't offer her tea. Dugu Lanxi only heard her say, "Mother, I've already sent the spare clothes I prepared for my younger sister to Feiyuan."
Madam Ouyang said with satisfaction, "You are very thoughtful."
Hua Fushu glanced at Dugu Lanxi, understood something, and remained silent.
Dugu Lanxi also noticed Hua Fushu, "Sister, the clothes have been sent to your room. If they don't fit or you don't like the pattern, just tell your sister-in-law."
Hua Fushu never thought that the Ye family treated her so thoughtfully. She was very touched and solemnly expressed her gratitude to Dugu Lanxi and Madam Ouyang.
Dugu Lanxi glanced at Sanqiao and said to Cuizhi, "Cuizhi, take good care of this girl."
Cuizhi responded and walked towards Sanqiao. Sanqiao looked at the lush flowers, then at Dugu Lanxi and Cuizhi.
Hua Fushu said, "Qiao'er, go with Miss Cuizhi. Don't worry about me."
