A post-90s female military doctor on night duty wakes up to find herself transmigrated to the 1970s, becoming an educated youth's wife.
After accepting reality, she works hard with her hu...
The morning sunlight, like scattered gold dust, bathed every corner of the village, adding a touch of vitality to this ancient place. Lin Yue got up early, her eyes revealing a complex expression of both impatience and a heavy heart. Today, she was going to the village school with Chen Yu and the other educated youth to further investigate the situation there and make more in-depth preparations for the education reform plan.
Lin Yue wore a light blue coarse cloth blouse, which she had altered herself. The cuffs were adorned with delicate embroidery, revealing her meticulous attention to detail. She wore black trousers, the cuffs neatly tucked into black cloth shoes. Her hair was simply tied in a ponytail, a few wisps falling beside her face, giving her a refreshing look. Standing in the courtyard, she took a deep breath, as if gathering strength for the scene that awaited her.
Chen Yu walked over, his posture still upright, like the old locust tree by the village that has weathered storms yet still stands strong. He wore a dark blue work uniform, his usual work clothes, stained with indelible marks—the traces of his contributions to the village. He looked at Lin Yue, his eyes full of concern: "Yue'er, are you ready? I know the situation there might be worse than we imagine, but we must stay calm and find a way to solve the problem." His voice was deep and strong, like an invisible comfort reaching Lin Yue's ears.
Lin Yue nodded slightly, her eyes hardening. "Yes, let's go. We can't let the children continue in such a poor educational environment." With that, she stepped out of the yard first.
The two walked along the winding village road towards the school, encountering many villagers along the way. The villagers greeted them warmly, their eyes filled with trust and expectation. An old man smiled and said, "Lin Yue, Chen Yu, you're busy with the village children again! You're such good people!" Lin Yue smiled and replied, "Grandpa, it's what we should do. The children's education can't be neglected."
Finally, they arrived at the village school. It was a dilapidated little courtyard, the walls of which were made of a mixture of mud and stone, with cracks appearing in some places, as if telling the story of the vicissitudes of time. The gate was a worn-out wooden door, the paint peeling off completely, revealing the mottled wood grain inside.
Lin Yue gently pushed open the courtyard gate. The creaking sound of the hinges was particularly jarring in the quiet courtyard, as if breaking some long-sealed memory. A few thin trees stood in the yard, their leaves sparse, trembling in the breeze. The ground was uneven dirt, with puddles filled with murky water from the rain.
Stepping into the classroom, a musty, old smell hit me. The room was dimly lit, with only a few small windows, most of which were broken and barely covered by rags and papers. The walls were dark, with peeling paint in some places revealing the adobe bricks underneath. Spiderwebs clung to the roof beams, swaying gently in the breeze like dancing ghosts.
Several dilapidated tables and chairs were placed crookedly, some with broken legs held together by ropes or blocks of wood. Most of the chairs were also unstable, and the children had to sit carefully during class to avoid falling. On the teacher's desk sat a tattered blackboard, the eraser worn almost dry, with some faint chalk writing remaining on it.
As Lin Yue watched all this, a heavy weight pressed down on her heart, making it hard to breathe. Her eyes were filled with heartache and self-reproach, as if she could see the children struggling to learn in such harsh conditions. Her lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but something seemed to be stuck in her throat.
Chen Yu's brows furrowed tightly, and a hint of anger flashed in his eyes: "How could this be? How can these children be allowed to study in such an environment? This is so unfair!" His fists clenched involuntarily, and the veins on the back of his hands bulged, showing his inner agitation.
At this moment, the other educated youth arrived one after another. As soon as Zhang Feng entered the classroom, he was shocked by the scene before him. He pushed up his glasses, his eyes filled with disbelief: "This...this is too rudimentary. It's even worse than we imagined." His voice was a little hoarse, and his usually gentle face had become serious and solemn.
Li Jing's eyes reddened, tears welling up. She covered her mouth with her hand to stifle her sobs: "These children are so pitiful. We must change this situation as soon as possible." Her body trembled slightly, her heart filled with pity for the children.
Wang Qiang walked around the classroom, inspecting the damage to the desks, chairs, and walls. He shook his head as he looked around: "These desks and chairs are unusable; they need to be remade. And these walls need repairing; otherwise, it's too dangerous for the children to have class here." His tone was urgent, as if he had already conceived a repair plan in his mind.
Lin Yue took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She walked to the middle of the classroom and said to everyone, "Don't panic. We're here to solve the problem. Let's write down the details of the situation here and see what materials and manpower are needed for repairs." Although her voice was still trembling, she had regained some composure.
So the educated youth sprang into action. Some took out notebooks to record the number and extent of damage to tables and chairs, some checked the structural problems of the roof and walls, and others inspected the surrounding environment in the courtyard.
Lin Yue walked to a table with a broken leg, squatted down, and examined it carefully. She touched the table's material and found it was severely rotten. She frowned and wrote in her notebook, "The table is badly damaged and needs to be mostly remade; a large amount of wood is required." Her eyes were focused and serious, as if she were dealing with something extremely important.
