Chapter 250 Confidentiality
Nan Zhiyi felt much more at ease after hearing this.
This extra income from part-time work, plus any potential royalties, might allow Gao Huiqin to catch her breath a little from her heavy burden.
"Thank you, Teacher Li, for your help."
Actually, Nan Zhiyi came to see the teacher for another matter.
She asked softly, "I would like to ask you to help me give my monthly allowance to Gao Huiqin. When the student life committee distributes the allowances each month, I would like to give it to Gao Huiqin in the name of the school."
Teacher Li was somewhat surprised. "Nan Zhiyi, are you really going to do this?" Although he knew that Nan Zhiyi came from a wealthy family, he still tried to dissuade her.
Nan Zhiyi simply nodded and said, "Teacher, she needs it more than I do. Please make sure to tell her that it was given to her by the school, and don't let her know."
After a moment of silence, Teacher Li praised, "Good, on behalf of Gao Huiqin, thank you. Zhiyi, your spirit of selflessly helping your classmate is rare and commendable."
She was somewhat embarrassed by the praise, and only said, "Please keep this a secret," before turning and leaving.
When Nan Zhiyi returned home after school in the afternoon, a light drizzle began to fall.
The roses and climbing roses in the yard were wet, making their colors even more vibrant.
Sister Zhang was busy in the kitchen when she heard the noise and poked her head out: "Sister-in-law is back. I was worried you didn't bring an umbrella. But the rain came at just the right time; it only started falling after you got home."
She added, "Minister Gu called back and said he would be back late tonight, so you should go to sleep first and not wait for him."
Nan Zhiyi: "Okay, I understand."
She went to the living room to check on Xiaoman, who was almost two years old. The child was lying on the carpet, playing with building blocks idly. When she heard her mother come back, she unusually did not run over.
Nan Zhiyi squatted down to look at him, "Xiaoman, are you unhappy?"
Xiaoman said angrily, "I'm not happy! Tiger Brother is a bad guy! Hit him!"
Sister Zhang came over to help translate, "Today, Hu Zi wanted to play with Xiao Man's new toy, but Xiao Man wouldn't let him. So Hu Zi refused to play with her this afternoon and played with other children instead. The little guy is angry."
Nan Zhiyi laughed. This little girl, Xiaoman, already knows how to get angry. "Xiaoman, are you going to hit Brother Huzi?"
Xiaoman nodded vigorously, "Hit him!"
"Force can't solve problems, and you shouldn't hit someone you like. If you hit Tiger, he'll be angry and sad, and he won't play with you anymore."
These words were a bit complicated for Xiaoman, and he frowned as he pondered them.
Seeing her son looking like an adorable little old man, Nan Zhi was delighted and didn't disturb his contemplation. Instead, she sat on the sofa, found her textbooks, and began reviewing her lessons.
After putting Xiaoman to sleep that night, she sat down at her desk.
Turn on the desk lamp, and its halo creates a quiet space.
She spread out her manuscript paper and re-entered that science fiction world.
Late at night, the sound of a door opening came from downstairs.
Gu Xiao is back.
She didn't move, and went straight upstairs after hearing the footsteps.
The door was gently pushed open.
Gu Xiao was wearing casual clothes, his shoulders still damp and slightly cool.
He strode in and stood behind her, placing his hands on the edge of the desk and gently pulling her into his arms.
Nan Zhiyi turned her head and met his gaze.
His eyes were deep, like a still pool, always frozen in front of outsiders. But now, under the lamplight, his reflection in her eyes melted away, revealing a warm current within them.
"It's so late, why aren't you asleep?"
"I'll wait for you to come back." She leaned back, wanting to press herself against his chest.
He stepped back, saying, "My clothes are dirty, I'm going to take a shower first."
"Hmm." Nan Zhiyi continued writing.
Gu Xiao took a quick shower, changed into light short-sleeved loungewear, and walked over to Nan Zhiyi again while drying his hair with a towel in his hand.
He glanced at the manuscript paper covered with writing on the table, knowing that she had been working on it for a long time.
He casually draped the towel over the back of the chair, raised his hands and gently massaged her temples with moderate pressure.
Nan Zhiyi closed her eyes, feeling the soreness in her forehead gradually dissipate under his pressure.
Gu Xiao looked down at her. The years had not left any marks on her. After giving birth to Xiaoman, her figure had returned to normal, slender and supple. At this moment, the halo of the desk lamp illuminated her profile, and her long, dark blue eyelashes lay quietly on her porcelain-white cheeks.
His gaze swept over a small patch of smooth skin beneath her collar, his Adam's apple bobbing almost imperceptibly as he suppressed the turbulent emotions surging within him.
"Is your classmate's matter resolved?" He continued working, but his voice deepened.
Nan Zhiyi kept her eyes closed and briefly explained Gao Huiqin's current situation and how she had given up her monthly allowance.
“I told the teacher to just treat it as a gift from the school and didn’t let her know.”
Gu Xiao praised her: "That's good. My wife does good deeds anonymously, she has a high level of awareness, just like a little Lei Feng."
Nan Zhiyi smiled and said, "Okay, no need to press anymore."
Gu Xiao stopped the massage, sat down on a chair, put his arm around her, and pulled her to sit on his lap.
Nan Zhiyi fell into his arms, her gaze falling on her sleeping son on the small bed beside her.
“Look at your son,” she said, tilting her head slightly and complaining in a low voice, “He’s so naughty. He didn’t get to play with Tiger next door today, and he actually said he was going to hit someone.”
Gu Xiao couldn't help but chuckle, "Maybe he took after his mother. He was quite fierce when he was little. He didn't like to cry, but he loved to throw his little fists."
Nan Zhiyi glared at him with dissatisfaction, "I don't believe it! When did I ever hit people? I'll call Aunt Feng tomorrow and ask her if you were well-behaved when you were a child."
Gu Xiao tightened his arms around her waist and chuckled, "Sure, ask away."
His gaze fell on her rosy lips, and his eyes darkened.
After a while, Nan Zhiyi relaxed again, held his big hand, and stroked his well-defined knuckles; her palm was warm and dry.
"Minister Gu's massage skills were quite good just now, and he deserves to be commended."
Gu Xiao chuckled and leaned down, his lips almost touching her earlobe, his warm breath brushing against her. "How will you reward me?"
Nan Zhiyi turned her head away, refusing to be kissed by him, "I have exams in a few days!"
Her midterm exams are scheduled for May 9th and 10th.
With only three days left until the exam, Nan Zhiyi must do her best to prepare.
She formally notified Gu Xiao, "A 'truce' is necessary for the next few days!"
Gu Xiao hugged him tighter and solemnly assured him, "Yes, sir! I will keep the young soldier Gu Zhao in check!"
Nan Zhiyi tried to push him away, "I was clearly talking about you!"
She wasn't very strong, but Gu Xiao cooperated by leaning back and subtly pulling her arm, causing them both to fall onto the large bed behind them.
He quickly rolled over, covering her beneath him, his arms bracing on either side of her, his gaze fixed intently on her, his eyebrows slightly raised, his eyes filled with tenderness.
"Sir, can the ceasefire agreement begin tomorrow?"
Nan Zhiyi was bewitched and unconsciously hooked her arms around his neck, "Approved."
