Chapter 298 The Tragedy of the Wang Family

As soon as Jiaming entered the gate of Peach Garden, she saw Xiao Hezi looking at her with disapproval.

Jiaming felt inexplicably guilty, but then she remembered that she had already considered all aspects before going out, so she became confident.

She smiled casually at Xiao Hezi and said, "Did you come all this way to pick me up?"

Xiao Hezi, with his sharp eyes, noticed the change in his master's expression and immediately understood that his master didn't think he had done anything wrong. He opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn't say anything.

After a pause, he continued, "Master, please don't let it happen again. This time it went smoothly, but next time it might not."

It's so good that I wasn't lectured; Jiaming breathed a sigh of relief.

But they forgot that she was the master, and Xiao Hezi, as a servant, would never lecture her; at most, he could only offer her a few words of advice.

That was Xiao Hezi's advice to Jiaming.

"There won't be a next time, don't worry, I understand. After this, they'll definitely keep their eyes wide open and wait for me to leave Peach Blossom Courtyard again," Jiaming said as she continued walking towards the main house.

After Jiaming walked past him, Xiao Hezi followed behind her. Hearing that she had figured things out, he knew there was no need to persuade her anymore.

Instead, he opened his mouth and whispered about other things, "Master, when we get back to the room, I have something to tell you that I think you'll be interested in."

Upon hearing this, Jiaming quickened her pace and said, "Great! Once we're back in the house, you can tell me what you're saying, and I'll listen."

"Oh dear, Master, please slow down, what if..." Hongtao hurried to catch up with Jiaming, and glared at Xiao Hezi as they walked side by side.

Honestly, couldn't you have waited until the master went back to her room before telling her you had something to say? Now look what's happened, you've piqued the master's curiosity, and she's rushing back to her room. What if she trips and falls while walking so fast?

The thought of this possibility made Hongtao glare at Xiao Hezi with even more bitterness and resentment.

Xiao Hezi gave Hongtao a wry smile. He hadn't expected his master to be in such a hurry to know. He quickened his pace and, like Hongtao, hurriedly advised Jiaming, "Master, slow down, you can't fall."

Jiaming glanced at Hongtao and Xiao Hezi out of the corner of her eye without saying a word, then twitched the corner of her mouth and thought to herself, what is there to worry about? I can walk briskly even on a mountain path, how could I fall just because I'm walking too fast!

But Hongtao and Xiao Hezi didn't understand her, and Jiaming understood too. She didn't want to explain further, so she reluctantly compromised, "Alright, I know." As she spoke, her pace returned to normal.

Red Peach, Little Hezi, and Green Willow felt their hearts sink as their hearts pounded.

A short while later, they returned to the main house. As soon as they stepped inside, they felt a wave of warmth wash over them.

Green Willow took off Jiaming's cloak, while Red Peach quickly poured Jiaming a cup of hot tea, which she handed to her after Jiaming sat down.

Jiaming took the hot tea, sat down on the tatami mat, and just played with it without drinking it.

As soon as Xiao Hezi entered the room and checked that everything was normal and as usual, he returned to Jiaming's side.

"Sit down, don't be so formal," Jiaming gestured to Xiao Hezi and the others. They didn't refuse, thanked Jiaming, and then each took a small stool and sat down.

"Little He, you just said you had something to tell me. Tell me, what is it that you think I would be interested in?" Jiaming looked at Little He with great interest.

"It's like this, it's about Lady Wang from the Eighth Prince's mansion. I thought you must be very interested since you paid so much attention to it before."

When Jiaming heard that it was about Wang Xuezhen, her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly urged Xiao Hezi, "Tell me quickly, how is Wang Xuezhen doing?"

"My lord, please don't be impatient. Let me explain to you slowly."

Before anyone else could speak, Xiao Hezi immediately continued, "Master, didn't you say before that Li Shufu and Consort Hesheli would deal with that Wang Shi? You were truly a prophet. Sure enough, a couple of days ago, their people made a move at the Eighth Prince's residence?"

"How did it happen? And then what happened?" Jiaming couldn't help but ask.

"They didn't send their own people to do it, but rather through the Eighth Prince's wife, indirectly targeting that Wang woman by helping her. As for what happened later," Xiao Hezi deliberately paused, leaving Jiaming in suspense.

Jiaming paused in her teacup-playing, glancing at Xiao Hezi. She knew all too well what Xiao Hezi was thinking, but she still guessed in a cooperative manner: "Isn't it true that the straightforward Eighth Prince's wife has learned to use tricks? For a moment, Wang Shi was caught off guard by the Eighth Prince's wife's scheme."

"As expected of the master, but it's not over yet." As he said this, a hint of joy flashed in Xiao Hezi's dark eyes.

Jiaming, who happened to see this, felt a tickle in her heart, extremely curious about what could have made Xiao Hezi so happy.

She didn't have to wait long before she heard Xiao Hezi's answer in the next moment of her curiosity.

"After receiving help, the Eighth Prince Consort quickly seized on Wang's mistakes. However, old habits die hard, and the Eighth Prince Consort still prefers straightforward methods. Your Majesty, just think about the brutal methods you've heard about the Eighth Prince Consort in the past, and you'll know how tragic Wang's situation was. Being whipped was normal for her."

The little brat dared to scheme against his own master; now he's in for it! Thinking of Wang's tragedy, Xiao He felt a sense of satisfaction.

As the one who had been schemed against by Wang Xuezhen, Jiaming was naturally happy to hear of her tragedy. In her elation, she also noticed the even more excited look in Xiao Hezi's eyes.

Does this mean that Wang Xuezhen's matter is not over yet?
