Empress Ming, Empress Xiaochunxian, of the Gu'erjia clan, from the Manchu Plain White Banner, younger brother is Grand Scholar Gu'erjia Jiahuan. When Shizong Yongzheng was a prince, she gav...
Wu Sidao smiled and said, "Your Highness, there's no need to hesitate. It's not a matter of whether it's appropriate or not, but whether you want to or not. Even if Your Highness is very busy, you still need a short rest. As the saying goes, work and rest should be balanced!"
Hongxuan nodded: "That makes sense."
"Besides, the household has a habit of having lunch in the morning, which is also the time when the Prince takes a short rest. If you go and ask the Prince now, it might be just the right time!"
Upon hearing this, Hongxuan's eyes lit up.
After thanking Master Wu, Hongxuan indicated that his study companion didn't need to worry about him and could relax during the lunch break. Then he led Xiao Li to the Fourth Master's study.
Outside the study, Su Peisheng, who was guarding the door, saw the Fourth Prince Hongxuan coming over. He couldn't help but wonder why the other party had come here, but he didn't show it on his face. He calmly greeted Hongxuan and paid his respects.
"You're too polite, Su Anda," Hongxuan said, glancing towards the doorway and frowning as he asked, "Is Father still busy inside?"
Su Peisheng nodded and said, "Fourth Prince, the master is still busy inside."
Hongxuan asked worriedly, "So that means we didn't have lunch?"
Su Peisheng nodded worriedly: "Yes."
"How can this be!" Hongxuan blurted out, then turned to Su Peisheng and said in a reproachful tone, "Su Anda, why don't you persuade your father? No matter how busy you are, you can't forget to eat! Your health is very important!"
Su Peisheng didn't mind the Fourth Prince's reproachful tone; on the contrary, he was very pleased that the Fourth Prince was worried about his master.
"This servant tried to persuade him, but the master wouldn't listen. Now, they've all kicked me out because they think I'm too noisy." He stammered, "However, Fourth Prince, your arrival is just in time. As for the master's meal..."
Meeting the other's gaze and words, Hongxuan nodded and replied, "Leave it to me, Su Anda, you pass on the message to Father!"
Su Peisheng immediately smiled, turned around, and knocked on the door.
Upon hearing this, Fourth Master knew that Su Peisheng had bothered him again. He frowned, his hands still moving as he continued to wield his brush, but he said impatiently, "Su Peisheng! I already said I don't need lunch, why are you still bothering me? Is this never going to end? You think you're doing this for my own good, so you can disregard my orders?"
This is outrageous!
The Fourth Prince, already irritated by official business, was now even more agitated!
Despite being rebuked, Su Peisheng's good mood remained unaffected, and he replied with a smile, "Your Highness, the Fourth Prince has arrived and is waiting outside the main gate!"
The irritable Fourth Master paused, stopping the brush he was waving. His impatience lessened considerably, and he couldn't help but wonder why Xuan'er had come to see him.
While pondering, he instructed Su Peisheng, "Bring Xuan'er in!" After saying this, he put down his brush, picked up the teacup on the table, drank some tea, and waited for his fourth son to come in.
Outside the door, Su Peisheng, having received the instructions, gave Fourth Prince Hongxuan an approving look. Hongxuan smiled and nodded slightly in acceptance of the approval before entering the study under Su Peisheng's guidance.
"May you live in peace, Amma!"
Fourth Master put down his teacup and said calmly, "Rise!"
After receiving permission, Hongxuan stood up and approached the Fourth Master. The Fourth Master looked at his fourth son approaching and gestured with his eyes to ask what was the matter.
Hongxuan didn't answer the question about the purpose of his visit, but instead said with a smile, "No need for you, Father. It's lunchtime. Let's eat first."
Fearing his father would refuse, Hongxuan quickly added, "I haven't eaten yet either. I heard from Su Anda that you haven't eaten either. Perfect, let's have a meal together. Perfect, I've been missing your food here. Besides, after we finish eating, I have something I need your help with."
When Fourth Master heard that Hongxuan hadn't eaten lunch yet, his brows furrowed and a chill ran through him.
Hongxuan was very perceptive; he immediately noticed his father's dissatisfaction and explained, "I wanted to resolve my doubts before having a meal. I thought Master Wu could answer my questions and it would be over in a little while, but Master Wu said that I still had to rely on you, Father. So, I thought I'd ask you for help and also get a free meal from you, hehe!"
Upon hearing this, the Fourth Prince's brows relaxed, but his cold aura remained. He turned and glared at Su Peisheng, who was still standing to the side, and said coldly, "Didn't you hear that the Fourth Prince hasn't eaten? Hurry up and serve him the meal!"
Su Peisheng stopped laughing and said seriously, "This servant just instructed someone to set out a meal next door."
Upon hearing this, Fourth Master stopped emanating a chill from his body.
He stood up and led Hongxuan to the next room.
Upon arriving at the next room, he wiped his hands with a damp towel before sitting down at the table where the meal had been laid out. Hongxuan followed suit, wiping his hands as well, and then sat down at the table as well.
And so, the father and son quietly began their belated lunch. Although they ate in silence, the atmosphere was very warm and intimate.
Su Peisheng, who always served food to the Fourth Master, had no chance to use his skills.
You should know that in the past, the only time the Fourth Prince didn't need him to serve him at the banquet was when he was in the Peach Garden.
Now, he doesn't need to serve anyone at the banquet; the young Fourth Prince Hongxuan has taken over his duties, and the Fourth Prince doesn't need his help either.
However, he wasn't angry or annoyed at all. Instead, he put down his chopsticks with peace of mind and stood behind the prince and the fourth prince, watching the father and son warmly serve each other food at the table.
After their meal, the father and son returned to the study and began their main discussion.
The Fourth Prince sat at the head of the table, and Hongxuan sat beside him, right next to him.
"Speak, what is your doubt?" Fourth Master asked Hongxuan, feeling somewhat puzzled. Why would Wu Sidao send Xuan'er to find him instead of answering the little guy's questions?
Hongxuan immediately relayed the questions he had asked his mother and Wu Sidao to his father, saying, "Father, the Imperial Grandfather and the Second Uncle of the Crown Prince..."
