Just as the zombie was about to pounce on Lu Mingxing, a curtain of water suddenly appeared between the two, blocking the zombie's next move.

Tang He recalled his dagger, took a running start, and moved to the side of the zombie with a flying shovel. Just as the zombie was about to reach out and grab him, another bolt of lightning struck his wrist, causing him to freeze in mid-air.

Tang He seized the opportunity and threw the knife again, successfully piercing the zombie's nape. The zombie stiffened and fell straight down.

The water curtain disappeared, and Tang He dusted himself off. "I must say, this thing was actually quite troublesome."

With his hands tucked into his waistband, Da Gang took a closer look and exclaimed, "Tsk tsk, it's just a low-level zombie, but its agility is far superior to that of an ordinary zombie, and its skin is as hard as a steel plate. Just how terrifying must mid-level and high-level zombies be?"

Lu Mingxing said calmly, "The organization has reported that they have only discovered a small number of low-level zombies so far. You still have time to train."

This was the first time Lin Xi had heard him say so much. In the darkness, his all-white outfit stood out, as if he were bathed in a hazy, cool glow.

Tang He gripped the dagger at the back of the zombie's head and pushed hard. The sound of the sharp blade piercing flesh filled the air, and Lin Xi couldn't help but shudder.

He took out a green crystal core and put it in his pocket before slowly turning to look at her. "What a coincidence! Little zombie."

His laughter was harmless.

Lin Xi felt a chill rush straight to the top of his head.

"Brother Ming, capturing this little zombie and dissecting it for research should be quite valuable, right?" Tang He squatted down, staring at her with excitement in his eyes. "Little zombie, what level are you now? And what about the humans who were with you? Did you eat them?"

Lin Xi looked up, her eyes brimming with tears, her face filled with fear and confusion. "Brother, why did you call me a little zombie? I only like to eat beef, I don't like to eat human flesh."

Tang He was stunned by the soft "brother" and was momentarily speechless.

"Don't play dumb with me, we've met four times already, sister." He wiped the smile from his face, his expression turning cold. "If you're not a zombie, why do you keep avoiding us every time you see us?"

Lin Xi bit her lip, suppressing her fear as she whispered, "Because I'm...introverted...and shy."

"You're still being stubborn, aren't you?" Tang He looked at the large vat. "Big vat, you've seen this zombie before, come and identify it."

When Da Gang saw the little girl's pitiful appearance, his heart melted completely.

He took a few steps forward, looked at Lin Xi hesitantly, and said, "Hmm~ It doesn't seem to be her, right? Maybe she just looks a bit like her."

Tang He frowned. "That's not what you said before."

The little girl on the ground looked at him with wet, round eyes glistening with tears. Da Gang looked away and scolded Tang He with some dissatisfaction, "She's just a little girl, do you have to scare her to tears every time?"

Tang He looked at Lin Xi and said, "Little sister, I've prepared a disguise for you. If I ever find out, I'll personally take your crystal core."

Lin Xi shook her head, tears welling in her eyes: Did he have to be so scary? Where would she get any crystal cores for him?

Lu Mingxing stood at a distance, having lit a cigarette at some point. Through the hazy smoke, he stared straight at her, as if he had seen through her clumsy acting all along.

Lin Xi instinctively avoided his gaze.

In the last second, I seemed to see the corner of the man's mouth curl up slightly, as if he was chuckling.

Tang He's expression was grim as he continued to ask Lin Xi, "What are you doing here?"

"I came out with everyone, and then I accidentally bumped into this monster and got separated." Lin Xi grabbed his sleeve. "Brother, can you take me with you? Once I find Uncle Jiang and the others, I will leave and will never trouble you again."

"Shut up, don't call me brother."

Lin Xi shrank back and nodded with a wronged look on her face.

Big Jar couldn't stand it anymore, "Tsk! Little He, how dare you talk like that!"

"It's okay, brother... he probably misunderstood me."

Big Jar patted his chest and said, "It's alright, little sister! Follow your brothers."

As he spoke, he reached out to pull her arm.

How old are you?

"I'll be 17 soon."

Tang He gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead. "Idiot!"

Lu Xingming looked at the large vat and said, "You brought these people with you, so protect them yourself."

Big Jar grinned sheepishly, "Okay!"

"Let's go to the control room and get something."

Lu Mingxing turned around, leaving only his tall and thin back view.

Tang He didn't even glance at them and quickly followed.

Big Jar turned around and chuckled, "Little sister, keep up close!"

Lin Xi nodded.

Big Jar beamed with joy. No wonder everyone loves little sister so much. She's so well-behaved and adorable. If she were his sister, he would cherish her and pamper her with sweets.

In the darkness of night, Lin Xi wiped away her tears.

Luckily, she's watched countless dramas and knows how to brew Biluochun tea. Without her skill in playing dumb, she might not have gotten away with it today.

As the three of them approached, Lin Xi consciously moved closer to Tang He.

The crystal core is on him; if you don't go near him, who will you go near?

Tang He disliked it and turned to look at her coldly. Lin Xi looked up innocently, staring at him expectantly, until he stiffly turned his head away.

"Big Cylinder Brother, isn't this a safe zone? Why are there only zombies and no one here?"

"Oh, this is because we didn't do a good job of screening when we were taking in the survivors, and some zombies got mixed in. The survivors have already been evacuated."

"So that's how it is." Lin Xi looked disappointed.

"What's wrong?"
