The End of the World: Oh No! The Zombie Slipped into the Crowd

The apocalypse arrived, and Lin Xi unexpectedly turned into a conscious zombie.

From then on, she embarked on a journey to find her family alongside superpowered companions.

When encoun...

Chapter 30 The apocalypse is a place where even hope can shatter.

"Shouldn't you be afraid of Tang He?" Lu Mingxing smiled, but his eyes were cold.

"No, I just don't like the taste of tobacco."

Lu Mingxing was taken aback, then realized that the little girl was not yet an adult and should rarely be exposed to environments with a smoky smell.

Who knew that the next second her soft, sweet voice rang out again, "Besides, I think Brother Tang He seems easier to get along with than you."

His tone also carried a hint of resentment.

Lin Xi was telling the truth. After all, Tang He wears his heart on his sleeve. If he wanted to kill you, he would have chased you around the world and notified you.

On the contrary, Lu Mingxing was mysterious and didn't talk much. She felt suffocated and oppressed when she was next to him.

Lu Mingxing chuckled.

What kind of logic is that? At least I haven't been shouting that I want to kill her every day, have I?

Upon hearing this, Tang He turned his face away uncomfortably, not looking at them. Did she think that saying a few nice words would stop her from killing him?

If they really are zombies, they should be killed without hesitation.

The big jar pointed at itself, "Little sister, where's your jar brother?"

Lin Xi chuckled, "Big Jar Brother is the best!"

Yeah! They're the easiest to fool.

Big Jar grinned smugly, "That's right! Don't be afraid, little sister, I'll make sure you're well protected!"

The small bungalow in the very center of the safe zone is the most fortified building, with a coded door on the outside.

Lin Xi watched as Lu Mingxing entered several different passwords before the door slowly opened.

Da Gang explained to her, "The control room is very important. It manages the maintenance and operation of all the equipment. So, the senior management set up a total of five passwords to prevent anyone from sneaking into the control room and damaging the equipment."

Lin Xi nodded. She had almost thought they were thieves, which was why they kept trying the lock.

What are they doing in the control room? Why does Lu Mingxing know the control room's password?

Tang He suddenly drew his dagger, and Lin Xi's heart skipped a beat at the sight of his action.

The door opened, and a plump man in his fifties turned around.

"Minister Liu Tao?"

"It's me," the middle-aged man smiled.

"I'm glad you're alright. Please pack your things and come with us to move."

Tang He checked his surroundings and, after confirming there was no danger, put the dagger back into his pocket.

Lin Xi was taken aback; there was actually someone else in the safe zone!

Minister Liu Tao was also taken aback when he saw Lin Xi, "You have young girls in your organization?"

Lu Mingxing replied truthfully, "Yes, but she isn't."

Da Gang whispered in his ear, "This is the head of the technical department of the D City security zone. All the equipment here was built under his leadership. We're here because we received a mission to safely transfer Minister Liu to the nearby security zone."

When Lin Xi looked at him again, her eyes were full of admiration.

The head of the technology department sounds impressive.

The group dealt with several zombies along the way before safely getting into the vehicle.

Of course, Lin Xi remained hidden in the back without moving.

After all, she's currently cultivating a persona of a delicate, innocent girl, and she can't afford to let that fall apart.

Tang He opened the passenger door and got in; the back seat was a bit cramped.

After hesitating for a moment, Minister Liu said, "It's a bit crowded."

The main problem was that the two people behind me were quite large, which made it really uncomfortable.

Lu Mingxing glanced at Tang He, "You can switch with the big vat."

Tang He reluctantly got out of the car and sat next to Lin Xi.

Lin Xi laughed inwardly: You little brat, you still have to sit obediently next to me.

On the surface, however, she appeared innocent and naive, saying, "Brother Tang He."

Tang He closed his eyes and pretended not to hear.

From Lin Xi's angle, one could just see the dagger in his shirt pocket and the crystal core emitting a faint green light.

I really wanted to just snatch it and run.

Unfortunately, I'm in the car now, so it's hard to escape.

She tried her best to control her hands; she couldn't let all her efforts go to waste!

I wonder if Brother Long and the others have left yet. Could they still be looking for me?

Thinking of this, her eyes darkened.

The residents' group has indeed found the monster's corpse in the square, the green trees scorched by lightning-type superpowers, and fresh, muddy tire tracks on the ground.

Jiang Ling's expression changed drastically. "It's them!"

Jiang Yuan had guessed it too.

Brother Long and He Chao were taken aback. "What are you talking about?"

"They are the three people we encountered before: one with lightning-type abilities, one with water-type abilities, and one with metal-type abilities."

Brother Long realized what was going on, "Are they the same guys who threatened to kill Lin Xi last time?"

He Chao's eyes widened suddenly behind his black-rimmed glasses. "Then isn't her situation very dangerous?"

Yan Xiangxiang closed her eyes and didn't speak. She wished Lin Xi would never come back. As long as she was here, she would keep trying to sow discord between her and the others. As long as she didn't come back, she and the other members of the owners' group would eventually reconcile.

It would be best if she were already dead at the hands of those people!

Brother Long exclaimed excitedly, "Then what are we waiting for? We have to go and rescue her!"

Jiang Ling shook her head. "It's not easy to take action. They are all very strong. We can only try our best to get them back."

Everyone nodded.

So they followed the tire tracks all the way to the back door, which was already open.

Uncle Jiang suddenly pointed to a mailbox on the side and asked, "What's that over there?"

Jiang Yuan read aloud the words on the wall: "A letter left for the survivors."

He Chao went to retrieve a letter.

—Survivors, I regret to inform you that the safe zone in D City underwent a change the moment it was built.

—Your current location is no longer safe. Please move away as soon as possible and get to the nearest safe zone in G city.
