The apocalypse arrived, and Lin Xi unexpectedly turned into a conscious zombie.
From then on, she embarked on a journey to find her family alongside superpowered companions.
When encoun...
The three people on the other side helped each other to their feet.
Are you alright?
The three shook their heads.
Lin Xi asked Jiang Chuan, "Why can your speaker attract mid-level zombies? I tried using this method to attract low-level zombies before, but after waiting for several days, all that came were ordinary zombies."
Jiang Chuan countered with a question, "Where is this place?"
"The hospital."
Where did you used to play your stereo?
"Desolate wilderness".
Lin Xi immediately realized what was going on as soon as he finished speaking.
"It's because there aren't that many mutated zombies in the wilderness, and their distribution is relatively scattered, so the possibility of them turning into low-level zombies is very small!"
"Hospitals have a large flow of people, making them more likely to harbor low-level or even mid-level zombies!"
"Because zombies also need to prey on each other to level up."
Good heavens, it seems like it's starting to develop a brain!
“Not entirely.” Jiang Chuan walked up to the speaker and picked it up.
"It's not broken?"
Despite enduring so many zombies trampling it and repeated attacks from several people with supernatural abilities, the sound system remained completely intact.
"This speaker is made of a special material; it's very sturdy, and it can be adjusted to emit a specific number of hertz," Xu Youjia said as she walked over.
"What Xiaochuan just said is not entirely true. Different levels of zombies are sensitive to different sounds differently."
Lin Xi suddenly realized that the reason they failed to catch the zombies was not only because they chose the wrong location, but also because they chose the wrong sound frequency.
No wonder.
If you're heading in the wrong direction, all your efforts will be in vain.
Jiang Chuan looked at Chen Jin, who was still trembling with tension, and said, "You did a good job today."
Chen Jin raised his head, still reeling from the battle, his eyes filled with confusion, as if he didn't understand what he was saying.
After realizing what was happening, his eyes lit up instantly.
Does this mean I've gained recognition?
Back in the car, after taking the medicine and discussing it, they decided to find a place to rest for the night.
When Uncle Lin took out a wire and inserted it into the keyhole to try to unlock the lock, he suddenly felt his vision go black.
He turned his head in confusion, only to see a small face suddenly close up, with two bright eyes staring intently at him through the mask.
"what you do?"
Lin Xi answered truthfully, "I want to see how you pick locks, I want to learn."
His expression was so sincere that Uncle Lin was taken aback.
"Uncle, did you work as a locksmith before?"
Uncle Lin looked embarrassed. "Is that so?"
Lin Xi looked at him in confusion. Yes or no.
What does "right" mean?
Uncle Lin deliberately avoided her gaze.
He couldn't very well tell her directly that he was a thief before the zombie outbreak, could he?
In the first ten years or so, when I lacked experience, I was caught red-handed because I didn't choose the right time or place and just happened to make eye contact with the owner standing at the door.
He's been to the police station countless times over the years.
Recalling these old stories, he couldn't help but sigh.
"Uncle, can you teach me?" Lin Xi's eyes shone with an eager desire.
Uncle Lin continued to avoid her gaze, not really agreeing with her idea. If he hadn't been forced by life, how could he have done such a thing?
It's disgraceful; it's shameful to talk about it.
Sometimes, when the night is quiet, I feel uneasy and toss and turn, unable to sleep.
"Why would a young girl like you need to learn this?"
"After I learn this skill, even if I get lost from everyone on a mission, I will be able to find a place to sleep."
Hearing this, Uncle Lin's nose tingled with emotion. "So where did you sleep on your way to the safe zone in S City?"
"In the mountains!" Lin Xi said with a hint of grievance, "It's hot now, and there are so many mosquitoes. I can't sleep at night because of their bites."
She told a little lie; she did sleep in the mountains, but she usually slept in her car, though she did get bitten by mosquitoes quite often.
Uncle Lin paused, looking at her with some pity, and finally softened and agreed.
"Alright, now you can see it clearly."
Lin Xi listened intently as Uncle Lin pulled out the wire and taught her again how to bend it and what shape to make it.
Then it was inserted again.
"In a regular lock like this, there are springs and pins."
"The corresponding key teeth will push the tumbler up."
As he spoke, he took out another piece of wire, bent the tip into a slight curve, and inserted it back in.
"This wire is used to push the balls up as high as possible."
Judging from his expression, he seems to be trying.
Suddenly, there was a click.
The door opened.
"Wow!" Lin Xi exclaimed, her eyes filled with envy and admiration.
Uncle Lin couldn't help but feel a little smug.
He never imagined that his humble skills would one day earn him respect.
[Danger Warning: Three stars.]
Lin Xi's expression froze.
Just as he was standing with his hands on his hips, smugly pleased with himself, a figure suddenly rushed out.
Lin Xi, who had already realized what was happening, pulled him to the side.
They found nothing in the room.
Uncle Lin patted his chest. That was close!
Thankfully, this girl pulled him away.
"Low-level zombie!"
The people who were leaning against the wall waiting for the door to open immediately became alert.
Jiang Chuan quickly drew his long sword and swung it at the zombie, leaving a deep, bone-revealing wound on its body from the black sword energy.
The zombie looked at the knife marks on its back, and the confusion in its eyes was instantly replaced by anger.
