I have two principles as a human being:
1. Never lie.
2. Never believe anything anyone says, including myself.
“Sir, I must point out that your second principle contradicts the ...
When Cheng Shi uttered those words, he had already taken the first step toward accepting his fate.
What was predetermined finally became "the true predetermined" at the last moment.
"No!!!"
Qin Xin, the big cat, withdrew his hand in grief and anger, and rushed towards Cheng Shi, trying to pull him back. However, endless gales surged from the void, carrying the color of the [Primordial] and forming a high wall that blocked both of them outside.
[War] roars with blood and fire, [Prosperity] is filled with resentment and screams, but it's all too late.
At this moment, [Fate] is more like the madman [Truth] who is obsessed with experimenting to get closer to [Origin]. In the past of the Continent of Hope, [Truth] also used this method to keep [Deception] outside the high wall of true knowledge.
As Cheng Shi drew ever closer to his destiny, and as the hope of this world slipped away, even the gods could no longer remain silent.
A divine pillar suddenly parted the void and a raging wind, taking root before Cheng Shi. It blocked Cheng Shi's path, lashing out at everything around it in frustration, and questioning the high and mighty outer god, Fate:
"His departure—could it lead to the destruction of the universe—the end of life?"
[Fate]'s indifferent gaze swept over the [Divine Pillar], and he said coldly:
"【Birth】, I know you are wholeheartedly drawn to the 【Origin】, giving birth to all living beings, and never concern yourself with the affairs of the world. Now, you are obstructing the established path simply to find out whether the will of 【Birth】 can continue."
But whatever the outcome, you can't stop me, nor can you defy destiny.
Upon hearing this, the [Divine Pillar] became even more agitated, but the surrounding swirling winds pressed in relentlessly, locking the ferocious [Divine Pillar] in place.
[Birth], unable to move due to confinement, fell silent, yet [Fate] spoke without joy or sorrow:
"I'm saying all this because you've never been a burden to what's already decided, and also to prove that I don't need to lie to you."
This is the only opportunity in the entire universe and even among countless worlds. Only by satisfying the will of the [Primordial] can you possibly live like a true god.
And now, the experiment remains unresolved; we are all merely variables.
The immense shock to their worldviews had yet to be digested by the gods, and they fell silent once more. At this moment, Cheng Shi chuckled, bypassed the motionless [Divine Pillar], and continued walking towards [Destiny].
As he walked, he gradually raised his head and began to look around at all the gods present.
The atmosphere became utterly absurd at this moment. The clown was clearly the "star" on the "red carpet," but he acted like a passerby, carefully observing the expressions of every audience member in the "audience."
His gaze was complex. He subconsciously glanced past the bloodshot-eyed cat and Qin Xin, then at the dormant green flames of "Death" within the eye sockets, and finally at the frozen, trembling, buzzing pages of the book, displaying the "Iron Laws of Order"...
[Rotten] Silently decaying, [Memory] Silent memory, the wrath of hatred, Herobos and others who are usually either irritable or profound in front of mortals, are now cowering in a corner, not daring to make a sound.
They were utterly insignificant in the face of the surging primordial energy around them.
Although many deities have yet to arrive, Cheng Shi's gaze seemed to see through the entire universe.
This is how the world is; every person and every god is exercising their own will, constantly fighting against each other.
It wasn't until they discovered that fighting was pointless and that the final answer always came down to a mortal that they realized the gods were not gods at all.
They found it hard to accept this reality and thought that if the established truth was indeed the answer, then they might as well quickly turn the page on this experiment that crushed the dignity of the gods.
But is this page really that easy to turn?
Cheng Shi was uncertain. His steps were heavy, as if he were dragging shackles, and he staggered forward until he finally stood before [Fate]. He raised his head and looked directly into the starry eyes that had given him countless protections. Suddenly, his vision blurred.
He hallucinated that his benefactor, [Deception], also possessed such a swirling spiral and should have been a radiant constellation, but now, like these extinguished stars, He should never shine again...
Cheng Shi choked up a little, but he didn't say anything.
He clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and swallowed the despair in his throat. He looked directly at the Outer God [Fate] and asked a question that he would never have asked before.
"If I were to sacrifice myself, would everything end?"
At that moment, the spiral in the Outer God's eyes froze.
He looked down upon his believers, his gaze no longer as resolute as when he spoke to the gods.
Cheng Shi also sensed the uncertainty of the Outer God [Fate], but he did not retreat or run away. Instead, he stood firm before [Fate], "offering his neck for execution," and said:
"If the clown's appearance is the last act in the final performance, then let [nothingness] leave as it is destined... and let the curtain fall."
We're exhausted; it's time to close our eyes and rest.
It seemed that he had completely accepted his fate, which moved even fate itself.
However, not everyone accepted their fate because of Cheng Shi's resignation. At least, a spark may fade, but the flame will never be extinguished!
Qin Xin, the founder of the Fire Relay, wanted to leave a glimmer of hope for the world. But seeing that hope was gone and the future was bleak, he realized he no longer needed to think about the world; it was time to think about his friends.
Cheng Shi absolutely did not want to leave this place, because there were people he cared about here!
Since that's the case, and since we're going to die no matter where we go, why can't we all die together under this starry sky and be buried in the world we cherish?
So Qin Xin made a move!
A whirlwind of nothingness blocked his approach, but it couldn't erase his voice. Just before the endless, dense power of [Destiny] was about to engulf Cheng Shi, Qin Xin spoke out fiercely:
