Foolish Game of the Gods

I have two principles as a human being:

1. Never lie.

2. Never believe anything anyone says, including myself.

“Sir, I must point out that your second principle contradicts the ...

Chapter 287: Real and Old A

But the reality is far more miserable than imagined. When Cheng Shi followed Lao Jia back to the so-called home, he found out that Lao Jia didn't have a job at all. When he was short of money, he just picked up scraps and did odd jobs.

Everything he's wearing is fake.

It is indeed an old fake.

This "home" was too shabby for Cheng Shi, who grew up in an orphanage. It was even worse than the attic storage room where he was often locked up.

There is no warm bed, no clean desk, no companion to accompany me. There are only four walls, a bed, a table, and a missing corner of the table.

There wasn't even a single electrical appliance in the entire house, except for the light above my head that flickered on and off.

But the strange thing is that Cheng Shi was not depressed or even disappointed when he saw this scene. He just asked calmly: "Where should I sleep?"

Lao Jia pointed to the dark kang head and said, "You sleep inside, and I'll sleep outside."

"oh."

Cheng Shi responded and climbed onto the bed without even taking off his clothes. He pulled the greasy quilt over himself, closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Lao Jia stared at the child blankly, then turned to look at the bright sun outside the house, shook his head and smiled, closed the door for him and left.

But since this was Cheng Shi’s dream, Jiang Wumei didn’t know where Lao Jia had gone. He only knew that not long after Lao Jia left, the fox-like little Cheng Shi woke up with his nose pinched.

He pricked up his ears to listen to the noise, then jumped out of bed, picked up his schoolbag and walked out.

This is a village in the city. The road leading into the village is so winding that even the ranger himself almost couldn't remember it. But this little kid just lowered his head and followed in once, then walked out along the same route as if he knew the way.

It seems that Xiao Chengshi has no intention of living with Lao Jia at all.

"Running away? Interesting."

Jiang Wumei followed Xiao Chengshi like a ghost. When they just stepped out of the urban village, they found Lao Jia in a supermarket at the entrance of the village.

Little Cheng Shi immediately shut up and stood against the wall, and then he heard the voices of the clerk and his "father" from inside.

"Hey, Lao Jia, you've become rich now, so you can afford to buy some ham?"

"If I'm not rich, I won't eat, but my children will."

"Ah? When did you have a child? An adopted child?"

"Don't talk nonsense, old man. It's not good for the children to hear it."

"Okay, let's go, let's go quickly. The smell makes me sick. It's so dirty when you have children at home. Be careful not to get sick. Wash up quickly."

"I know, it's none of your business."

Lao Jia packed up his things and walked back. Xiao Chengshi stood at the foot of the wall, frowned, a look of hesitation flashed in his eyes, and then he sighed, dejectedly walked back with his schoolbag.

But he walked faster than Lao Jia, so before Lao Jia returned home, Xiao Chengshi happened to wake up from bed.

"Are you awake? Come, eat something. There's meat."

"Oh." Little Chengshi jumped off the bed, looked at the bare walls of the house, and pouted, "How do I wash my hands?"

Lao Jia was stunned and scratched his head.

"Wait a minute, I'll go borrow a basin."

"......" Seeing Lao Jia hurriedly leaving, Cheng Shi stood in the room and laughed loudly. He laughed and laughed and didn't know what he was laughing at. He picked up the ham sausage and took a look at it. He muttered inexplicably, "It's good. At least it's not expired."

This didn't seem to be a bad start. At least the old man and the young boy accepted each other, and little Cheng Shi also settled down obediently in this poor home.

But he never threw away his "tools". Although his family was not rich, at least he could still use his own hands, oh no, his own mouth, to cheat some things to supplement the family income.

Living next door to them was a rich man named Sun. He was not young but was well maintained.

No one knows why a rich person, especially a rich woman, would live here, but Jiang Wumei discovered that in fact, a large number of houses in this urban village seemed to be her property. This means that she is a rich and idle landlady.

Little Cheng Shi soon discovered this and began to go to Aunt Sun's house every now and then to get some food.

The woman surnamed Sun didn't dislike him, but her attitude towards him wasn't very good either. She just treated him like a little pet.

But eating for free is not a long-term solution. Many things that are edible and drinkable in the orphanage have become a luxury for Lao Jia. So one day, Cheng Shi, who was so greedy, finally couldn't help it. He picked up a bottle cap at the door, and with his skillful hands, he painted an identical "One more bottle" on the back of the bottle cap, and then took it to the supermarket to exchange for a drink.

The clerk didn't notice it at all and he actually changed it.

But as soon as the man walked out of the supermarket, he was caught by Lao A.

Lao Jia had just come back from work. Seeing Xiao Chengshi gulping down a Coke, his eyes darkened and without saying anything, he took money out of his pocket and went to the supermarket to pay.

When Xiao Chengshi saw this, he didn't say a word, just lowered his head and followed him home.

This was the first time that Lao Jia got angry. No matter how Cheng Shi explained along the way, he never smiled. After arriving home, he even asked Cheng Shi to lie on the bed and not move.

Cheng Shi's temper also came up. Without saying a word, he just lay down and didn't move.

He guessed what Lao Jia was going to do.

Sure enough, Lao Jia picked up the broomstick at the door and hit Xiao Chengshi on the butt.

It was very painful, even Jiang Wumei felt the pain, but Xiao Chengshi didn't say a word.

Lao Jia was shaking with anger. He said, "People should be honest in this life. It is wrong to lie to others, and there will be no good end for liars. Do you remember this?"

Little Chengshi tilted his head to the other side, holding back tears and said unconvincedly: "I lied all the time when I was in the orphanage, and my life was much better than this!"
