Chapter 30 Some Little Pleasures

"It's not your fault, it's just my constitution, I'm full."

She interrupted him, pushing the bowl forward. Qin Yan, seeing that he had eaten even more than yesterday, nodded.

"Very good, more than yesterday." He packed his things, and Aunt Lan came to take over for him, still sitting in the same spot working, glancing at Yun Nuan from time to time.

Yun Nuan turned over, leaving him with only her back view.

When Assistant Wen delivered the documents today, he found that his boss was in a much better mood. A few days ago, President Qin was expressionless, but all the documents were sent back for redoing. He even exuded a cold and oppressive aura, which made Assistant Wen a little afraid every time he delivered the documents.

This feeling was the same as when President Qin had just woken up from the car accident. Today was different. The ice and snow were melting. He secretly glanced at Miss Yun on the hospital bed. He could only see her back, but that didn't stop it from making President Qin feel better.

Meanwhile, Yun Nuan had no idea what the two were thinking. She was just planning when she would leave. She couldn't go back with Qin Yan. The banquet was over, which meant that their cooperation was over as well.

The marriage between the two children was just something the adults talked about; it didn't really count.

She hadn't been clutching the blanket for long when the nurse came in to give her an injection. Her left hand was already bruised and purple, so she had to use her right hand today.

The rain outside the window had stopped, and the sky was dark and gloomy. She lay on the bed in the ward, unable to do much. Staring blankly at one spot was her most familiar activity.

A tangled mess of threads, with no idea where the exit was.

Despite her many thoughts, she was discharged from the hospital the next day. She didn't say a word from the moment she got out of bed until she got into the car, and Qin Yan didn't disturb her either.

The villa was constantly being cleaned; the servants and bodyguards were organized in an orderly manner before leaving.

Aunt Lan put her things back in her room and told Qin Yan that she planned to go to the market to buy groceries. Aunt Lan needed to run between two places, as her grandson's leg was still not fully healed.

She was exhausted from preparing nutritious meals for two people every day. Yun Nuan couldn't bear it and advised her to go back, but she was still worried and just smiled and said that she couldn't stay idle and that it wasn't anything difficult to do.

As usual, when she was about to take her medicine after dinner, she would hold the pill in her mouth and then spit it out when she returned to her room, doing all this quietly.

Qin Yan was happy that she was finally eating seriously and doing what the doctor had told her to do, but she didn't know that she had vomited up all the medicine behind her back.

As Assistant Wen's visits became more frequent and the volume of documents increased, she sensed that the day Qin Yan would stand up was drawing ever closer.

She felt a rare moment of joy after all these days. Qin Yan was going to take back what belonged to him, and before long, he would be back in that position, followed by people, even more dazzling than before.

The next morning, just as she vomited up the medicine, Qin Yan appeared at the door. She hurriedly pressed the flush button, turned around, and looked at Qin Yan nervously with her hands behind her back.

"What's wrong"?

Qin Yan frowned. "What were you doing just now?"

"Just kidding, what's wrong? Are you going out?" She noticed that the other person was dressed in a suit, had a file folder on his lap, and was followed by Assistant Wen. It seemed that the other person's business today was very important.

Qin Yan nodded, his tense mood easing. He had thought Yun Nuan was in pain again, but seeing that she was alright, he revealed the purpose of his visit.

"I have to go to the company and I might not be able to come back tonight. You have to listen to Aunt Lan and contact her anytime if you have any questions, okay?"

Yun Nuan answered absentmindedly, gripping the doorknob and giving Qin Yan a slight smile.

"I wish you success, I wish you all the best." Her eyes were full of sincere blessings, and Qin Yan's heart stirred, and he smiled as well.

"Thank you for your kind words, I'll be back soon."

Yun Nuan's expression changed slightly, and she quickly changed her words.

"No, I've always had bad luck. I was just talking nonsense. You guys go ahead."

Qin Yan wanted to pat her head, but the two were some distance apart, and he couldn't reach her while sitting in his wheelchair. He rubbed his fingertips together and turned to leave.

Yun Nuan let go of her hand, where there was already a red mark from the pressure. There were still some pills left at the bottom of the toilet. She turned around and pressed the flush button again.

The villa was quiet at night. The television, which was usually on in the background, was not lit today. After finishing dinner, Aunt Lan hurriedly went back to take care of her grandson.

There were bodyguards guarding the villa. At this special time, Qin Yan didn't want any accidents to happen, so he had them watching over the place.

She stood on the balcony and looked down at the glass greenhouse, which was half-built. She planted seeds that had already sprouted. Warm yellow ground lights illuminated the stone path, and in the distance were lakes and willow trees.

Qin Yan sent a message, and you could feel his good mood in his words.

"Everything went well today. Get some rest. I'll be home on time tomorrow. Goodnight."

She replied with a blank expression, "Goodnight," and after putting down her phone, she whispered an apology.

She walked barefoot on the carpet, head down, silent, and continued forward. Qin Yan had laid out a thick carpet because of her.

There weren't any foods in the refrigerator that would upset her, but she had frozen milk and put all the chili powder from the condiment section in there when no one was looking.

Her body cannot tolerate cold; if it does, her stomach cannot handle it, leading to various complications. She is prepared for this.

She took the carton of frozen milk straight back to her room, and then silently ate it by the window under the moonlight. As she felt the waves of stinging pain, she smiled.

My stomach was burning, and my heart was being torn apart. I was desperately biting into chunks of milk, and the melted milk flowed to the bottom of the bowl.

Finally, when the pain became too much to bear, she slammed her head heavily onto the table, and for the first time, she cried while clutching her pillow.

She suffered from illness for far too long; she had been sick since birth. Her mother would comfort her, and her father would encourage her that she would get better.

I can't remember when it started, but my mother began to get tired of visiting her in the hospital. The inability to diagnose her illness led the doctors to have reservations, and she remained hospitalized. My father appeared in the ward less and less often, and then it escalated to him appearing for only two minutes a month before leaving again.

She remembered one time when the two of them appeared together, their faces beaming with happiness. She thought her illness had improved and she could go home.

But Yunmu told her that she was pregnant and that she was going to have a younger brother.

“Yun Nuan, Mom is really tired. Your illness has no cause, and Mom’s hopes have been shattered time and time again. Please try to understand Mom. Now that Mom has a younger brother, when you leave, Mom won’t be too sad. I hope you can understand.”
