Transmigrated into the body of Zhu Yunteng, the grandson of Zhu Yuanzhang, he is unwilling to accept a tragic fate for himself and begins to find ways to build power and prepare for rebellion.
<...The old general from Sumatra simply couldn't believe that a mere thousand men could defeat fifty thousand formidable enemies; it seemed impossible.
Even if it's 10,000 people trying to defeat 50,000, that's by no means an easy task.
However, the general on the other side spoke very seriously; he even solemnly addressed the old Sumatran general:
"General, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it either. But now that the facts are right in front of me, I have no choice but to believe it. The Ming army is truly amazing."
Seeing how seriously the military commander was speaking, the old Sumatran general, though still incredulous, noticed that both the border soldiers and the Ming soldiers had smiles on their faces and didn't look like they had suffered a defeat.
Therefore, he had no choice but to believe it. After a long while, the old general sighed and said:
"We never realized how weak we really were, nor did we ever imagine how strong others were. Sometimes we really are just frogs in a well."
Although this statement is somewhat exaggerated, it does seem to be true when compared to the Ming Dynasty.
Next, the old general could only leave with the soldiers who had brought him reinforcements, and return to the capital city with the Ming and border armies.
Originally, the King of Sumatra was still somewhat worried, fearing that even with so many troops he had sent out, he still wouldn't be able to actually solve the problem.
But when the border general, the old general, and Ma Sanbao all returned happily, the King of Sumatra finally breathed a sigh of relief.
At first, he thought that his tens of thousands of troops had played a part in the victory of this war.
But later it was discovered that there was none at all, and the old general even said to the King of Sumatra with a helpless expression:
"Your Majesty, I am ashamed to say that before my army even arrived at the destination, they had already returned in triumph. They resolved this matter perfectly with just a thousand soldiers from the Ming Dynasty. You have to admire them."
The King of Sumatra was stunned when he heard this. He had thought that the Ming army was strong, but he never thought that it was this strong.
Isn't this a bit too exaggerated?
In addition, the King of Sumatra privately approached the border general and immediately asked him:
"A thousand soldiers really repelled fifty thousand enemy soldiers? Didn't your soldiers contribute anything?"
Upon hearing this, the general on the other side immediately spoke up:
"Your Majesty, to be honest, our border soldiers didn't step forward because there was no need for us. We offered to help, but the esteemed Lord Zheng of the Ming Dynasty refused."
The problem was completely solved solely by the soldiers of their Great Ming Dynasty. Crucially, these soldiers suffered almost no losses. The enemy, however, lost nearly 30,000 men.
Upon hearing this, the King of Sumatra remained silent for a long time before muttering to himself:
"So terrifying! It seems that choosing to befriend the Ming Dynasty was absolutely the right decision. We must hold on tight to this powerful force."
With such a powerful country protecting us in the future, Sumatra will no longer have to worry about being bullied by other countries.
The military commander over there, even if he's a king, he might not be friends with the Ming Dynasty, but he absolutely cannot be their enemy. That would be a terrible thing.
The king nodded, and after thinking about it, he naturally understood.
For the next two days, the King of Sumatra continued to entertain Zhu Yunwen with the highest honors.
Zhu Yunwen, on the other hand, felt that he should set off again and leave this place. He felt that he had stayed in this place for a while, more than a week in total.
Although we've had a good time every day, now that the matter is settled, the cooperation has been agreed upon, and we've gained another vassal state, we should continue our journey to other places and embark on a new voyage.
And so, on a bright and sunny morning, Zhu Yunwen, along with Zhao Qingzhu and Ma Sanbao, boarded the large ship again. Amidst the farewells of the King of Sumatra and the royal nobles, they set sail once more, leaving Sumatra.
After leaving Sumatra, the team headed northwest.
Gradually heading towards the Strait of Malacca, after about two days, we approached the Bay of Bengal and traveled along the Myanmar coastline for another half day.
On the ship, Zhu Yunwen sat on the high deck, looking at the Burmese beach on the distant coastline.
There was a hint of reminiscence in his eyes.
He was naturally not unfamiliar with Myanmar, whether before or after his transmigration.
Previously, after Zhu Yunwen became the crown prince, he had learned about the southern and southwestern regions of the Ming Dynasty, where small countries often caused trouble.
For example, Annam, and even present-day Myanmar, which once arrogantly declared that it would one day take over Yunnan from the Ming Dynasty.
During the Ming Dynasty, Burma was only verbally aggressive; in reality, it didn't do anything too outrageous in history.
At most, they would provoke us from time to time, and then they would be severely punished by the Ming army.
Previously, when Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Burma tried to take the opportunity to cause trouble in Yunnan. However, Zhu Yuanzhang sent his adopted son, Mu Ying, to teach Burma a lesson.
They even cracked their prized elephant formation. From then on, Myanmar gradually put away some of its ulterior motives and outwardly appeared to be quite obedient to the Ming Dynasty, but their true intentions were not necessarily so.
