Chapter 93 The Flood Has Finally Arrived
"Your Majesty, you're back!" Su'e stood at the courtyard gate and finally saw Qingyue's figure.
Qingyue smiled and nodded, glancing at Su Yuyao's room. "Is Yao'er asleep?"
"She's asleep," Su'e said softly as she helped Qingyue into the room. "Miss Yao'er kept insisting on coming to see you, but Bai'er managed to dissuade her! As a result, Miss Yao'er started snoring as soon as she lay down!"
"Has Yao'er eaten anything?" Qingyue asked, taking apart her hair.
"I ate some plain porridge," Su'e said with a smile. "She was clamoring for meat while she was eating the porridge!"
Qingyue smiled with relief, "This child really doesn't hide his illness; he wants to eat meat as soon as he gets a little better..."
Qingyue changed into her everyday clothes and walked into Su Yuyao's room with her hair down.
On the narrow side couch, Su Yuyao lay sprawled out, while Bai Er dozed off on the footstool next to her.
"Bai Er..." Qing Yue called softly.
"Ah! Your Majesty!" Bai Er rubbed her eyes, stood up, slightly bent her knees, and answered softly.
"Why don't you go sleep on the couch?" Qingyue asked softly, glancing at the sleeping Su Yuyao.
“The couch is too narrow. I’m afraid you’ll fall off, so I’m watching from the side.”
Qingyue helped Su Yuyao straighten her sleeping position. "Bai'er, go to sleep. I can stay here."
"Ah? But..." Bai Er hesitated for a moment, but then saw Qing Yue lie down on the edge of the bed and hold Su Yuyao in her arms.
"Hmm?" Su Yuyao slightly opened her eyes. "Your Majesty?"
"Yes, I'm back. Go to sleep..." Qingyue stroked Su Yuyao's head and said softly.
Su Yuyao tentatively placed her small hand on Qingyue's belly and slowly rubbed it upwards.
Qingyue couldn't help but chuckle; these two men's hands were just as restless! She stroked Su Yuyao's back, leaned closer to her, and whispered, "Sleep..."
Su Yuyao's little hand stopped. She quietly raised her head to look at Qingyue and saw a smile playing on Qingyue's lips. She mustered her courage, nestled her head against Qingyue's chest, inhaled the faint scent of milk, and drifted off to sleep again…
"Yao'er!" A familiar yet distant voice drifted gently over, "Yao'er! Are you awake?"
Su Yuyao rubbed her eyes, stretched lazily, and slowly opened them. "Where is Her Majesty?!"
"Still looking for the Empress? Aren't you afraid of the Empress?!" That voice... it's so familiar it's annoying.
Su Yuyao sat up abruptly and looked out the window, where she saw a smiling boy leaning against the window watching her. "Yao'er! Sleeping in again?!"
"Meng Yu?!" Su Yuyao exclaimed in surprise, "Meng Yu! What brings you here?"
Meng Yu propped his head up and looked at the disheveled Su Yuyao, then said with a smile, "Not only am I here, but the Immortal Master is here too!"
"The Immortal Master has arrived too?!" Su Yuyao's surprise came to an abrupt end.
The immortal master has actually come? Will he check my homework? I haven't done anything yet! Su Yuyao's heart pounded with anxiety.
Bai Er rolled her eyes at Meng Yu, who was peering out the window, and said irritably, "Young Master Meng Yu, I need to help Miss with her makeup and dressing. Please excuse me for a moment!"
"Oh! Excuse me! I'll excuse myself!" Meng Yu looked at Bai Er's expression and retreated back into the courtyard with a grin.
Meng Yu rubbed his nose and muttered, "She's my sister! Why should I avoid her... ah!"
As Meng Yu turned around, he met Fei Hua's scrutinizing gaze.
"Flying Flower Fairy...you startled me!" Meng Yu said, patting his chest.
"You're so annoying!" Fei Hua glared at Meng Yu and yelled, "You! You're so annoying!"
Meng Yu scratched his head awkwardly, replying, "Yes, yes, I hate it... Fairy Flying Flower, how have you been lately?"
Feihua began earnestly, "Okay, I... I'm fine, just busy..."
"Fairy! Let's go sit in Miss's room for a while! Her Majesty and the adults have something to discuss!" Fangchun interrupted Feihua and Mengyu's conversation, rolled her eyes at Mengyu, and helped Feihua into Su Yuyao's room.
Bai Er was styling Su Yuyao's hair when she saw Fang Chun helping Fei Hua in. She bowed slightly and greeted her, "Fairy Fei Hua! Granny Fang Chun!"
"Feihua! Did you sleep well last night?" Su Yuyao asked with a smile.
"Okay, sure." Fei Hua stared blankly at Su Yu Yao.
Su Yuyao looked at the dazed Feihua and asked, "Feihua, who came?"
"Hmm..." Fei Hua thought hard, then shook her head.
Seeing this, Fangchun bowed and replied, "Miss, there are no outsiders. It's Lord Qi Meng who has arrived and is talking with Her Majesty inside the room!"
"Oh," Su Yuyao's heart skipped a beat, "The immortal master isn't going to take me back, is he?!"
Fangchun smiled and said, "Miss, don't worry. This old servant just overheard that Lord Xuanfeng sent a message asking Lord Qimeng to send people to support Jiujiao Mountain, so Lord Qimeng brought Young Master Mengyu up here!"
"Didn't you say you were going to pick me up?"
Fangchun shook her head. "This old servant didn't hear anything."
The courtyard became noisy with footsteps. Su Yuyao looked out the window and saw Yin Hao, Lang Zhi, Guan Xiao, Granny Zhong, and Guan Yue. The group hurriedly entered Qingyue's room. Meng Yu glanced at Su Yuyao and followed them in.
Su Yuyao leaned against the window, muttering, "What happened?"
"Miss!" Bai Er pulled Su Yuyao back onto the stool. "Don't worry about it!"
After washing and dressing up, Su Yuyao walked into the courtyard looking quite presentable.
"Huh?" Su Yuyao looked at the blue sky. "Why is the sky this color? It's like flowing water! It's like we're at the bottom of a lake!"
Bai Er said, "This is because Lord Yin Hao used his Qi to cover the Vermilion Bird Palace. The blue sky above is actually rain falling..."
"What?! Grandpa Yinhao used his Qi to cover the Vermilion Bird Palace?! He actually has such great Qi power?!" Su Yuyao stared in astonishment at the Qi shield above her head. "Wow! That's amazing!"
She carefully observed the Qi shield above her head. The rain didn't seem to be heavy, but it had already formed small streams of water on the Qi shield. These small streams gradually flowed and slowly gathered into a wide little river.
Su Yuyao looked in the direction of the blue river overhead and saw that all the water was flowing towards the manure drying yard!
Is this little bit of rain really going to be directed at Grandpa Langzhi? Isn't that being overly cautious? Su Yuyao pondered.
"Lord Qi Meng, since Hidden Deer Mountain has also suffered from flooding, why did you risk coming here?" Qing Yue's voice was full of worry. "If you come, who will guarantee the safety of Hidden Deer Mountain?"
"Your Majesty need not worry. Although the rise in the water level of Wanhequ is somewhat strange, it does not currently pose a threat to Yuantun Palace. Since Lord Xuanfeng has sent us to support Jiujiao Mountain, he must already have a plan in mind!" Qi Meng's voice slowly drifted over. "Moreover, my other four disciples are also capable of handling things! Therefore, Yinlu Mountain will be safe!"
"Indeed! It seems I was overthinking things..."
As Qingyue spoke, she led the group out of the house and saw Su Yuyao, who was deep in thought, looking at Wang Tian'er.
"Yao'er! Come quickly and greet Immortal Master Qi Meng!" Qingyue called softly.
"Your Majesty!" Su Yuyao snapped out of her daze, lifted her skirt, ran over, and curtsied, saying, "Greetings, Your Majesty! Greetings, Immortal Master!"
"Oh! Yao'er! You've grown taller and fatter in just a few days!" Qi Meng said with a smile.
Su Yuyao patted her belly a little shyly.
"Have you done your homework?" Qi Meng asked.
"Ah? Um... I'm a little busy..." Su Yuyao looked at Qingyue.
“Lord Qi Meng, Yao’er has learned some new things here, so… she might not have enough energy…” Qing Yue pulled Su Yu Yao to her side and protected her behind her. “Once she has mastered the material, we can have her catch up on her studies. What do you think?”
Qi Meng looked at Qing Yue with slight surprise, smiled and asked, "I heard that Yao'er has learned to circulate Qi?"
Qingyue smiled proudly and said, "Yes! Although Yao'er is a bit playful, she is very talented and extremely smart. Young Master Guan Yue only taught her twice and she already knew it!"
"Hmm?" Su Yuyao was quite surprised to hear Qingyue praise her for the first time. She quickly grabbed Qingyue's arm and asked, "Is Your Highness truly praising me?!"
Qingyue tapped Su Yuyao's forehead and said, "You just don't know any manners! You're always so disrespectful! And you're so playful! If it weren't for so many people watching, how could you have made such great progress?"
"Oh..." Su Yuyao pouted and let go of her hand, and sure enough, she got scolded again...
Lang Zhi stood to the side, constantly observing Su Yuyao. Her qi and blood circulation were fine; her dantian was slightly unstable, but still nothing to worry about; her internal organs... were also fine...
It seems the multidimensional channel really didn't harm Yao'er, or perhaps that black mark wasn't a multidimensional channel! What could it be then?
Qi Meng was even more surprised to see Qing Yue protecting Yao'er. Where was this Qing Yue who broke the tree branch? She had clearly become Yao'er's nanny!
Qi Meng covered his mouth and cleared his throat, concealing his laughter, and said to Su Yuyao, "Yao'er, learning new knowledge is important, but you must solidify your previous foundation! You must meditate every day! You must memorize! You must catch up on the lessons you've missed in time, and you will make even greater progress!"
“Yes, Immortal Master…” Su Yuyao lowered her head and reluctantly accepted the order.
Qingyue affectionately stroked Su Yuyao's head and said, "Yao'er, the adults will be going to prevent flooding soon. You children stay in this courtyard and don't go out! Do you understand?"
"Flood prevention?" Su Yuyao looked up at the blue sky above. The water flow wasn't rapid. "The rain isn't heavy, why are you so nervous?"
"Silly child! It's precisely because the rain isn't heavy that we need to be prepared. If the rain suddenly intensifies, it will be too late! Young Master Guan Yue and Meng Yu will stay here. Don't fight, understand?"
"Okay!" Su Yuyao smiled and looked at Guan Yue, who smiled back at her.
Su Yuyao glared at Meng Yu with a cold face again. Meng Yu was not angry when he saw this, but just smiled wickedly.
After settling Su Yuyao in, Qingyue turned to the others and said, "My lords, let's proceed according to our previous division of labor and split up to protect Jiujiao Mountain with Qi as quickly as possible..."
Bang! The courtyard gate rang.
Everyone looked toward the courtyard gate and saw a frail figure being sheltered by a soaked oil-paper umbrella.
Her long dress was soaked with mud and rainwater. A lunchbox covered with a cotton cloth was slung over her elbow as she held an umbrella. As she slowly closed the umbrella, a damp, clean face was revealed. Upon seeing the crowd in the yard, she was startled and at a loss for words. "Ah?!"
Langzhi peeked out and immediately covered her forehead. This girl! Why did she have to come now of all times?!
"Ah... um... Yuqing is here... hehe..." Langzhi rubbed his forehead awkwardly and said, "Um... Yao'er was sick yesterday, so I specifically asked Yuqing to make her some chicken soup to help her recover..."
Qingyue glanced at Yuqing, then glared at Langzhi.
Guan Xiao covered his mouth, watching the spectacle unfold, while Granny Zhong acted as if it were none of her business. Although Yin Hao was deaf and blind, he could still sense the gossip lurking around him in the surrounding aura...
Guan Yue already knew the reason, so he gave Meng Yu a wink, signaling Meng Yu to control his excited expression.
Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Qi Meng immediately realized the seriousness of the situation and cleared his throat as he took a step back.
When Yu Qing saw a group of people standing in the courtyard, she was quite frightened. She quickly lowered her head and awkwardly fiddled with the oil-paper umbrella that she had already put away.
"Um... let me see how the chicken soup is cooking..." Langzhi glanced at Qingyue's expression and moved to Yuqing's side.
"You..." Langzhi looked at Yuqing, whose body was mostly soaked, her eyes filled with heartache, and said softly, "Why didn't you use your Qi to protect yourself in this heavy rain? You're completely soaked..."
Yu Qing glanced at Lang Zhi, handed him the lunchbox, and said softly, "Do you think I'm like you? I don't have that much aura. It's not easy for me to even protect this lunchbox!"
Langzhi took the lunchbox, slightly opened the lid, and the pale yellow, crystal-clear chicken soup, like a piece of yellow crystal, emitted a rich and mellow aroma.
"Wow! This chicken soup is really good!" Langzhi said with a smile.
He carried the lunchbox to Qingyue and said, "Tuanyue... look... Yuqing has cooked it all, and Yao'er needs to nourish her body too..."
Everyone was watching Qingyue, waiting to see how she would handle the bowl of chicken soup that Yuqing had made.
"I just had a lot of diarrhea last night, I don't need to replenish my body!" Su Yuyao took Qingyue's arm and continued the conversation, "Since Grandpa Langzhi is so kind to me, and Yuqing went to the trouble of delivering it in the rain, if I don't accept it, Grandpa Langzhi will feel bad."
She glanced at the lunchbox in Langzhi's hand and called out, "Bai'er! Put away the chicken soup. Yue'er and Mengyu are both here today, so it's perfect for them!"
"Yes, Miss!" Bai Er stepped forward and took the lunchbox from Lang Zhi's hand.
Qingyue gently stroked Su Yuyao's small hand that was wrapped around her arm with satisfaction.
Su Yuyao gently patted Qingyue's hand, then called out to Yuqing, who was standing at the courtyard gate, "Yuqing, Grandpa Langzhi cares about Consort Qingyue, and out of love for her, he also cares about me! But he's a big man, and he's very insensitive. He doesn't understand what Consort Qingyue really needs! So, whatever Grandpa Langzhi says to you, or whatever he says to you later, don't take it to heart, lest you... waste your efforts!"
"Yao'er!" Lang Zhi glared at Su Yuyao.
Seeing Lang Zhi raise his voice at Su Yuyao, Qing Yue was instantly enraged. Just as she was about to speak, Su Yuyao forcefully grabbed her arm.
"What's wrong?!" Su Yuyao tilted her head back and shouted at Lang Zhi, "I just hate her! So what?!"
"Yao'er! Yuqing made you chicken soup first thing in the morning! How can you be so rude?!" Langzhi shouted, pointing at Su Yuyao's nose.
"Did I ask her to make this?!" Su Yuyao rushed up to Lang Zhi, hands on her hips, and shouted at her, "Did I beg her?! Who knows what wicked scheme she had in mind when she made this pot of chicken soup!"
"You!" Langzhi's eyes widened and he raised his hand to slap him.
Upon seeing this, Su Yuyao quickly pursed her lips and closed her eyes.
Looking at Su Yuyao, who was tilting her head back and waiting to be beaten, Lang Zhi suddenly understood. He glanced at Qing Yue, whose eyes were blazing with anger that was about to set him on fire.
Su Yuyao waited for a long time, but the slap still hadn't come down. She secretly opened her eyes a crack and blinked at Lang Zhi, "Slap me! My silly grandpa!"
*Slap!* Lang Zhi slapped herself hard across the face. "I shouldn't have bothered with you! Do you know how hard I've worked to please you, Lady Qingyue!"
"Don't use me as an excuse if you want to curry favor with the Empress!"
"Do you think I'll still care about you from now on?!"
"You'd better leave me alone!"
"Lady Langzhi! Lunch box..." Bai Er handed the empty lunch box to Langzhi.
Langzhi took the lunchbox and handed it to Yuqing, winking at her while loudly saying, "Go back! They don't appreciate it!"
Yu Qing's face was full of grievance and resentment, "Brother Langzhi... I..."
"Alright... let's go..." Langzhi said softly, releasing a spider web with her palm and handing it to Yuqing, "Wear this and go!"
Yu Qing didn't reach out to take it, but looked at Lang Zhi with red eyes.
Su Yuyao rushed forward, grabbed the spider web from Lang Zhi's hand, and threw it at Yu Qing, shouting, "Run!"
Yu Qing looked at Su Yuyao, who was winking at her, and finally understood. She quickly covered herself with a spider web and disappeared from everyone's sight.
"You silly child!" Lang Zhi gently patted Su Yuyao's head and said softly, "Thanks!"
"Ouch!" Su Yuyao covered her head and looked at Lang Zhi with a mischievous smile, then suddenly burst into tears, "Ah—! Your Highness! Grandpa Lang Zhi hit me!"
"Huh?!" Langzhi waved her hands frantically. "I didn't!"
"Langzhi! You're so old, yet you're still so unruly!" Qingyue quickly stepped forward to comfort the crying Su Yuyao, "Yao'er, you're just... don't drink too much chicken soup, or you'll feel unwell..."
"Huh?" Su Yuyao looked at Qingyue with a mixture of surprise and delight. "Can I drink a little less?!"
"Okay!" Qingyue said with a smile, "We're going out now. You must listen to Young Master Guan Yue at home, okay?"
"Okay!" Su Yuyao replied, then turned and ran into the house. "Feihua! Feihua! We can have chicken soup now!"
"Huh? Wasn't this for me and Guan Yue?" Meng Yu followed after them. "Then we'll eat the meat! You guys have the soup!"
"No! I want a chicken leg!"
"You just said we should eat it!"
"No! I only want the chicken leg! Give it back!"
The sounds of fighting and attempts to break up the fight could be heard coming from inside the house.
Guan Yue bowed slightly to the elders in the courtyard, then entered Su Yuyao's room, and soon the room became quiet.
"My lords, let's set off!" Qingyue said, bowing slightly.
Qi Meng smiled and said, "Yao'er has indeed made a lot of progress!"
Qingyue smiled slightly.
After giving Langzhi a disapproving look, the group finally embarked on the arduous journey to seal off the mountain.
