Chapter 22 Guilty Feelings
Qing'er spent another three years in the mortal realm, watching people diligently cultivate. She also learned that the emperor wasn't the only one building temples and casting golden statues for her; temples were being built for her all over the world, and now her temple was the most popular among the mortals. She only learned this one day when she suddenly discovered a great deal of faith power. Although she didn't use faith power for cultivation, it could enhance the divinity of those statues. With increased divinity, as long as the people sincerely worshipped, and as long as it wasn't too extravagant, minor matters could be brought to fruition.
At first, she was a little uneasy when she learned all this. She wasn't even dead yet, and she was being worshipped every day. Then she realized she was a deity, so it wasn't strange at all. However, she was still very curious about the golden statue, so she went to see it. And she had to admit, it did look somewhat like the real thing. She found it rather novel. It has to be said, there are many talented people in this world. Even with her face blurred, it still managed to look so lifelike.
Having had enough of the mortal realm, Qing'er was preparing to return to the Heavenly Court, but before she went back, she had to visit Zi'er in Dongjia Village.
Qing'er flashed to Dongjia Village. The village had changed a lot; the houses were more orderly, and the villagers' faces were filled with prosperous smiles. She quickly arrived at Zi'er's house, pushed open the door, and entered. Zi'er was drying herbs in the yard, and her eyes lit up when she saw Qing'er.
"Fifth Sister, you're here! I've missed you so much!" Zi'er ran over happily, took Qing'er's hand, and led her inside, saying as she went. She hadn't seen her sisters for several years. Then she added, "Why didn't you come to see me when you came down to earth before?" She was referring to three years ago.
"You heartless wretch! You haven't even come back to visit us. You were busy back then." Although she hadn't gone back in the past few years, Zi'er didn't know, so Qing'er spoke with righteous indignation. As for coming to see her, she hadn't even considered it. At the time, she was somewhat resentful because of Zi'er's affairs, and didn't want to see her for the time being. However, after seeing more of things in the past three years, she had calmed down.
"Fifth Sister~" Zi'er felt a little guilty. She had indeed forgotten that her sisters would miss her.
"Alright, take some time to go back and get together with your sisters. Besides, your mother misses you too." Seeing her like this, Qing'er didn't dare to continue arguing with her.
Zi'er pulled Qing'er to sit inside the room and continued, "How is Mother's health? How are the sisters?" Zi'er asked hurriedly, her eyes full of concern.
"Nothing's wrong, everything's fine," Qing'er said with a smile. Zi'er felt much more at ease after hearing this, but she still hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
"What's wrong?" Qing'er sensed that she had something to say.
"Fifth Sister, you descended to the mortal realm without permission, and..." Zi'er said with a hint of worry.
Qing'er suddenly realized what Zi'er meant, even though Zi'er didn't say it. "I didn't descend to the mortal realm without permission. I told the Empress Dowager before I came down."
Zi'er asked in disbelief, "This... how is this possible?" Then Qing'er began to recount what had happened in the Heavenly Court.
"So... I don't have to be afraid of being discovered and taken back to be separated from Dong Lang anymore?" Zi'er nervously held Qing'er's hand, afraid that she had misheard.
Qing'er nodded, feeling a little guilty. She'd been in the mortal realm for so long and had forgotten to tell Zi'er these things. It wasn't entirely her fault; she'd been busy since arriving and had forgotten about it by the time she finished. But her guilt only lasted a second. After all, Zi'er had a man and forgotten her family, not even thinking to go back for a visit after all these years in the mortal realm. However, Qing'er knew why Zi'er didn't go back: she was afraid that if she did, she wouldn't be able to come down again.
