The King of Black Fog

"The situation is turning grim," one said.

"Hasn't it always been like this?" came the reply.

Chapter 168 Three Seconds Inside the Whale's Belly

Although the teeth were closed, the whale's lips remained open.

With a loud bang.

The seawater suddenly flowed backward, and all they could hear was the shrill roar of the water. Basket Starfish, Li Changzhou, and Yang Qinglan followed the seawater and crashed into the giant tooth.

Yang Qinglan stared at Li Changzhou, feeling a gravitational pull from the whale's esophagus—he felt as if he were being pulled away by the sky, but the waterfall was about to wash him back to the earth.

The seawater surged, and Li Changzhou, who often trained at the bottom of the lake, was fine, but Yang Qinglan immediately had difficulty breathing and couldn't catch her breath after being swept and washed by the seawater.

Her black bangs fluttered, her clothes billowed as if in the wind, and bubbles streamed from her lips.

Li Changzhou wrapped his left arm tightly around her slender waist to prevent them from being separated by the water flow, and opened his right hand. Five seconds later, the Thai Fighting Fish Oxygen Bubble appeared in his palm.

The oxygen bubble was three meters in diameter and as light as a real bubble.

Li Changzhou carried Yang Qinglan inside, and the pressure of the seawater rushing in immediately disappeared.

Yang Qinglan immediately took a deep breath of oxygen, which wasn't exactly fresh but also had no strange smell, and her lungs felt a bit suffocated by the seawater.

What followed was a tumbling motion.

The bubble was light and large; even with Li Changzhou holding Yang Qinglan and pressing her down at the bottom, he couldn't stop it from being swept away.

With a slight thud, the bubbles clung tightly to the whale's teeth. Not far away, the basket starfish met the same fate, and the surrounding seawater surged outwards in a frenzy.

The oxygen bubbles are strong enough to be used even in the deep sea, so the current rapids are nothing to worry about.

Once things calmed down, Li Changzhou finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Why did you come down?" he asked Yang Qinglan hurriedly.

The surrounding seawater roared.

"...He was pushed down."

"who?!"

"Never mind that for now," Yang Qinglan replied. "Let Qianxia know she's safe."

Li Changzhou opened his hand and took out the beak of the ground sparrow from his sister's backpack. Five seconds later, the tiger armor in his backpack was taken away—this was the siblings' secret code, indicating that they were both safe.

"Alright." Li Changzhou put away the ground sparrow's beak, looked at Yang Qinglan, and prepared to ask who had pushed her down.

Yang Qinglan was soaked to the bone, her black hair clinging to her snow-white face as if meticulously drawn.

Li Changzhou's heart skipped a beat, realizing something. His gaze slowly moved downwards, gliding over her fair and elegant neck, her shapely, rounded breasts, and her slender, twisting waist...

"Cough!" He turned around.

Yang Qinglan realized it too, and turned around, saying with a mix of shyness and amusement, "How can you see clearly in such darkness?"

"Her physical condition is relatively good."

Li Changzhou desperately tried to think of other things, attempting to forget what had just happened.

“This whale is clearly here to rescue the basket starfish,” he said, explaining his thought process aloud as if to focus attention during a morning reading session. “It’s probably a white card player. If we follow the basket starfish, we’ll probably be fine.”

“It’s a black card,” Yang Qinglan said.

"What?" Li Changzhou asked instinctively.

"Protecting the basket starfish from death is Black Card's mission."

"It's a mission from the Black Card, what's wrong?"

After a moment of silence, Yang Qinglan said, "It's nothing, never mind."

The force of the seawater gradually diminished, and soon the seawater in the whale's mouth was emptied, leaving oxygen bubbles, basket-shaped starfish, and a few lively schools of fish piled up in front of the giant, iron-barrel-like teeth.

"Are you coming or not?" Li Changzhou asked.

Cameras existed in 1928, but they were expensive. A small full-body photograph cost one or two silver dollars, while a load of rice sold for only three silver dollars. However, money was not a problem for him at all.

He now carries with him photos of the Marshal's Mansion, Ming City, and even England.

“The basket starfish can help the ‘Vulcan Diagram’ break through. We can get our hands on it first and put it on the exchange list.” Yang Qinglan’s gaze fell on the dark mass of basket starfish not far away.

Without seawater, the basket starfish looks like a tattered fishing net.

"Will Little Radish be angry with us?" Li Changzhou asked with a smile.

"She won't care." Yang Qinglan's voice carried a hint of amusement.

The void shattered, and the Black Death, carrying a scythe of white bones, appeared in the giant whale's mouth.

"I wonder how many cuts it will take to slay these enormous monsters," Li Changzhou said, as the Black Death's white robe fluttered in the wind and drifted toward the basket of starfish.

The First Evolution

"Waaah—"

Suddenly, the sound of a conch shell came from the whale's esophagus.

The whale made a swallowing motion.

boom!

The world turned upside down, and Li Changzhou instinctively grabbed Yang Qinglan. The two tumbled and rolled in the bubble, occasionally bumping into the soft walls of the cavity, feeling as if their whole bodies were about to be torn apart.

Peng!

An oxygen bubble fell into a lake.

"Little starfish, help me!" Before the two could steady themselves, they heard a soft female voice.

"Waaah!"

Looking up, I saw that the basket starfish had entered the water and immediately came to life, its tentacles lashing out like whips.

"Hahaha! I never expected that killing a monster would bring me a little demoness to my doorstep! Come back with me and be my concubine!"

A blazing light suddenly illuminated the surroundings.

Only then did the two of them get a clear look at their surroundings.

A huge pit filled with seawater.

The seawater reflected the firelight, creating a dazzling display of colors, and the waves created ripples, resembling a pot of sunset. A mermaid floated on the lake, illuminated by the firelight.

The mermaid's body was very slender and delicate, starting from her concave abdomen and pert buttocks, transforming into a silver fish tail.

Peng!

Tentacles and flames exploded in the air above the lake, and fragments of the arms and legs were ignited, falling onto the lake like a meteor shower.
