"The situation is turning grim," one said.
"Hasn't it always been like this?" came the reply.
...
Eagles soar through the sky, fish dart in the shallow waters,...
The dark bedroom was completely silent.
Alicia's violent heartbeat was clearly audible even to an ordinary person.
If it were anyone else, Alicia would suspect that the other person had already surrendered to the Empire and come to inquire about her, but Day Viss would not. He was a brave and loyal warrior, and his family had died at the hands of the Empire's soldiers.
“Yes.” Alicia nodded, her heartbeat gradually calming down.
For the next three minutes, Li Changzhou listened to the opportunity without saying a word.
He pondered for a moment and changed his plan to capture Margaret III directly.
"Your Highness, this opportunity requires the princess. Please tell her tomorrow that the auto mechanic will be waiting for her with a wrench."
"Car—ah!" Alicia was so frightened she almost choked; Day Weiss had suddenly vanished from her sight.
That power armor can cancel out the wavelength of visible light?
This technology is currently only possessed by the Empire. Could it be that Day Viss has defected to the Empire?
But Margaret III should have known about that opportunity, so why did she send someone to inquire about it?
Did Di En send someone without authorization because he was worried about the situation?
Or is it that Day Viss did not betray us, but was genuinely prepared to retaliate against the Empire even at the cost of his own life?
Alicia tossed and turned in bed.
When she heard the sound of the cannon salute, she realized that it was already dawn.
Today is the day his daughter, Bea Triss, marries Dien, and also the day the Duchy of Lestein is truly destroyed.
The maid who had been by her side since the time of the duchy served her in dressing and grooming.
"Your Majesty," the maid whispered in her ear, "something happened in the palace last night."
It was always like this; every morning, like listening to the radio, her maid would chat with her about her experiences.
"What happened?" Alicia looked at herself in the mirror.
Her hair was golden, and each strand was incredibly shiny, as if it were illuminated from within.
"Someone broke into the palace and poisoned several male servants."
Alicia didn't know if this had anything to do with Day Viss, or why he had poisoned several male servants.
Soon, she stopped thinking about it and made her decision—to tell her daughter about Daylight Weiss's plan.
It's just death.
If it weren't for her daughter, she and her husband would have committed suicide when the Guardian Divine Machine was defeated.
Alicia, dressed in a magnificent gown, arrived at the Rank Hall. Her daughter was already wearing a white wedding dress, with a princess crown as bright as the moon adorning her golden hair, looking as beautiful and holy as the legendary goddess of the sky.
Some young ladies from the empire and noblewomen were praising her, and she smiled back at them.
Her smile was so convincingly fake, exactly the kind of smile she had taught her – to smile like that when you don't like something, when you hate something. Then she affectionately pulled the corners of her mouth up, and her daughter suddenly smiled genuinely.
Alicia walked over.
“Mother.” Bea Triss’s smile faded slightly.
Alicia looked her over. She had imagined countless times what it would be like for her daughter's wedding, but she had never imagined it would be like this.
"Are you alright?" she asked.
“I’m fine.” Beatrice’s smile returned.
Someone came over and praised the mother and daughter for being so young and beautiful, saying they were the daughters of the Goddess of the Sky. When they went out, no one knew who the bride was.
No one treated them arrogantly; they were all very polite, the kind of politeness one would show to someone else's servants.
The wedding began soon.
According to the procedure, Alicia will personally hand Bea Triss over to the heir to the empire. Then, the princess and the prince will officially become husband and wife on the terrace of the Sky Hall, witnessed by the subjects in the Imperial Square.
They walked onto the red carpet leading to the terrace of the Hall of the Sky.
Knights in full regalia stood respectfully on both sides, watching them intently.
At the very front of the red carpet, Dien, dressed in a military uniform adorned with honors, stood at the entrance to the Sky Hall terrace, watching the two slowly approaching with eyes that seemed to be thinking about which piece of cake to eat first that night.
Margaret III, who also had stunning blonde hair, stood beside her son.
Legend has it that she was a fairy blessed by the goddess of the sky, fluttering around Margaret III. She was petite and lovely, and only the goddess of the sky could give birth to such a magical being.
You can hear the band playing "Beautiful Sky".
“Ya,” Alicia said in a voice so low it was almost a whisper, “I’m sorry.”
Bea Triss wanted to shake her head gently, but the weight of etiquette and the princess crown on her head prevented her from moving.
"Your father and I know that the world is not a fairy tale. Outside the royal court, there is war, death, hardships, disappointment, and the helplessness of giving everything but getting nothing in return."
"As the heirs to the kingdom, we should have told you, taught you, and instilled in you determination, courage, and will long ago, but... but—"
"But we hope that you can receive the favor of the Goddess of the Sky and be happy for the rest of your life."
“Mother…” Bea Triss wanted to cry, but the dress was so tight that she could hardly breathe.
"Ya, listen, no matter what I say next, don't get agitated."
Alicia composed herself; she had already cried all her tears last night.
“Your father is dead. You are now the Queen of the Duchy of Lestain. According to the agreement between our ancestors and the heavens, the right to appoint the pilot of the Imperial mech outside, which carries the fragments of the guardian machine, the heavens, is in your hands. If you marry Dien, you will lose your last power, and the duchy will disappear from history completely.”
"What?" Bea Triss controlled her expression and emotions.
