"The situation is turning grim," one said.

"Hasn't it always been like this?" came the reply.

Chapter 401 Thump

"Damn it!" Renn cursed.

Kara looked away, too lazy to ask how much longer.

After a while, as the two of them were getting drowsy—

"Squeak~~~"

In the still of the night, with only the sound of wind, the door was slowly opened amidst a long, drawn-out noise.

"Get up!" Kara shouted as she rose to her feet and drew her steel sword.

The bedding on the bed was thrown up like a parachute, and the two people sleeping on the bed quickly jumped up.

A quilt on the floor was pulled back, and two more people got up.

Six men, weapons in hand, stared intently at the open door, their chests heaving violently.

The light from the kerosene lamp was very dim, unable to penetrate the space outside the door. Looking out from inside the house, it was like a solid wall of night, from which unknown things could emerge at any moment.

The cold wind howled, like vengeful ghosts gathering outside the window, staring at them from behind.

"Sir! Close the door!" the captain whispered.

The man handed the sword he was holding to his right hand, picked up a kerosene lamp from the table with his left, swallowed hard, and slowly walked toward the door.

Everyone held their breath.

From a distance, the jazzman, trembling, used the tip of his sword to poke at the door. His arm strained slightly as he slowly pushed the door, which was much heavier than before, toward the doorframe.

"Squeak~~~~"

The same sound rang out, and everyone's hearts pounded like drums, their toes digging into the ground.

Once he was completely hidden behind the door, the man breathed a slight sigh of relief. However, he then found himself unable to push it open.

Even with the sword tip deeply embedded in the wooden door, it was still impossible to completely close it.

There are people blocking the way outside!

In that instant, Jazz tensed up, a wave of extreme fear washing over him.

"There are people outside!" He couldn't control his voice at all and shouted almost frantically.

Kara suddenly took two steps forward and kicked the door.

Bang! The door slammed heavily into the doorframe.

The soldiers rushed forward, using their weight to brace against the door. Kara, who had fallen behind, quickly caught up and, by the dim light, picked up the door bolt that had fallen off the ground and put it back in place, then reinforced it with the iron chain around her waist.

"Ha...ha..." Even though they hadn't done anything, everyone was breathless.

"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" Renn cursed in fear.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three crisp sounds rang out as the three kerosene lamps exploded simultaneously.

Everyone's heart felt like it was going to jump out of their throats, their scalps tingled, and they felt a sense of fear and oppression, as if they were being held underwater.

"Knock knock~, knock knock~" The knocking sounded on the door.

Everyone's eyes instantly turned bloodshot, like those of a raging wild beast.

"Knock knock! Knock knock!" The knocking grew more and more urgent.

Immediately afterwards, the people pressed against the door clearly felt a force pushing the door open.

The chains securing the gate rattled.

"Hold on!" the captain roared.

They couldn't see each other, but they could feel the heat and fear emanating from each other. It wasn't as if they were holding back the door, but as if they were trying to break it down, pressing all their strength against it.

Clang! Clang!

The thing outside the door started banging on it again and again.

Raine let out a low growl like a dying beast. Just then, he suddenly felt a chilling aura. Immediately afterwards, something quickly adhered to his legs and spread rapidly!

Extreme nausea and fear caused him to lose control of his tears.

Just as he opened his mouth to shout, the thing accelerated instantly, covered his mouth, and dragged him away without giving him a chance to resist.

The sound of the wind blowing against Jori made him shiver. He turned his head in fear, trying to see something in the darkness.

The sound of wind approaching.

"Ugh!" Jori only had time to let out a terrified whimper.

"Who?!" the captain shouted, reaching out to grab.

Jori was dragged away as his fingers slid across the cold fabric.

"Watch out behind you! That thing is coming in!" Kara pressed her back against the door, her sword pointed inside.

"Dellick!" the captain shouted.

"exist!"

"Theon!"

"exist!"

"Jazz!"

“Here—” Jazz pressed hard on the door.

"Raine!"

"....."

"Raine!" the captain called again.

There was still no response, and everyone's breathing quickened.

"Jori!" the captain continued to call out.

"......"

The captain gritted his teeth: "Kara!"

“Yes,” Kara’s voice was low.

"Two are gone!" Delick, wielding two axes, slashed alternately at the room, intimidating the monster hiding inside.

"What do we do now?!" Theon asked loudly, his voice filled with panic.

"Light the lamps!" the captain and Kara shouted at the same time.

The captain then yelled, "Turn on the lights!"

The jazz man was breathing heavily, his mouth gripping the sword, which was colder than ice, his back against the door, his trembling hands groping for a light.

winter!

winter!

The impacts on the door behind me were intermittent, but the force was increasing, as if something was moving backward to gather momentum before suddenly slamming into the door.

The people leaning against the door trembled, whether from fear or from the door being jolted open.

After several attempts, the kerosene lamp was finally lit, and a faint light appeared.

Just then, a large amount of black liquid gushed out from the window, under the bed, and under the table, instantly enveloping the four people pressed against the door, as if a giant hand was pressing them against the door.

Bang! The kerosene lamp rolled off the ground, the flame flickering precariously, going out completely several times only to reignite, before finally being swallowed by darkness.
