"The situation is turning grim," one said.
"Hasn't it always been like this?" came the reply.
...
Eagles soar through the sky, fish dart in the shallow waters,...
[Should we initiate a challenge?]
Whoosh!
Everyone looked at Li Changzhou.
In that single glance, Li Changzhou had already figured out how to persuade them to give up the challenge.
If God gave him time to finish speaking.
Player 'Nian' issues you a challenge, and you can't refuse.
A player named 'Rare' has issued a challenge to you, and you can't refuse.
[Player...]
Li Changzhou rolled over and landed in a crater created by the bomber, pressing himself against the still-warm mud wall.
Da da da da!
Where he had been standing, along the path he had rolled away on the ground, bullets kicked up streaks of mud.
"Idiot!" Li Changzhou cursed.
Sweat mixed with dirt made him look covered in dust.
He roared, "You attack your own teammates on the battlefield? Do you even want to finish the game? What if you kill me?! Do you think you'll survive?!"
A black dot appeared overhead in the distance, quickly zooming in on its vision... a hand grenade!
Li Changzhou's eyes narrowed, and he raised his gun to fire.
The bullet hit its target precisely.
Peng!
Amid the explosions, the helmet clanged as it was struck by gravel and dirt, shrapnel embedded itself in the surrounding soil like arrows, and the heatwave made the back feel scalding.
boom!
The bomber squadron attacked again.
"Take out these planes first!" a player shouted amidst the roar, only to be blown to pieces the next second.
But everyone had the same idea.
Who has time to care about this damn Black Mist King now? Survival is the priority!
Li Changzhou also raised his gun, aiming at the bomber overhead.
As a mission objective, conserving ammunition and letting others handle it would be the wise choice, but this would never gain the approval of the military spirit.
He didn't fire immediately. His eyes were fixed on a bomber through the scope. Even though the explosion was right next to him and shrapnel cut off a lock of his hair, he didn't move an inch.
Sudden.
Bang!
The bomber was 80 meters away from him, and he had already tested the power of his rifle through the first round of firing—it was powerful enough to penetrate an 8mm steel plate within 100 meters and still have some lethality.
He couldn't use his superpowers, but he had already fully mastered rifle proficiency.
The bullets hit the engine nozzles with perfect accuracy, sending up several sparks.
The bomber suddenly lost its balance, swayed a few times, and then crashed headlong into the ground.
Li Changzhou, who had retreated into the crater, heard the distant explosions.
After taking two deep breaths, he leaped up and rushed toward another bomb crater.
A female player with blue skin ran diagonally from him; both of them were aiming for the same crater.
The two stared intently at each other.
*Swoosh*—He slid into the crater with both legs digging into the ground.
They didn't even take out guns, they just started fighting!
The blue-skinned female player made a cunning and ruthless move, grabbing a handful of dust and throwing it at Li Changzhou's eyes, while simultaneously kneeing him in the groin.
Li Changzhou had already closed his eyes.
His right leg lashed out with a crack.
Bang! Dust swirled out as the two men's legs collided.
The female player's face contorted in pain, which transformed into rage. This rage amplified her power, and she raised her long, strong leg—and once again—
Snap!
Amidst excruciating pain that seemed to pierce her face, she was lifted into the air. Before she even landed, Li Changzhou retracted his fist, lowered his body, and rammed into her like a bull.
"Ugh!" The female player groaned in pain, spitting out blood as she was slammed to the ground.
She has not lost consciousness yet.
His open mouth snapped shut, his teeth biting hard into Li Changzhou's arm that was wrapped around his neck.
Li Changzhou's face was contorted with rage as he exerted force with both hands and suddenly twisted.
Kacha!
Like a machine that has been unplugged, the blue-skinned female player instantly went silent.
"Ha! Ha!" Li Changzhou gasped for breath, because he had forcibly twisted the other person's neck and she had bitten off a small piece of flesh from his forearm.
He lay prone at the bottom of the crater and began stripping the female player of her equipment.
boom!
Bombers flew overhead.
As Li Changzhou tucked the grenade into his waistband, he looked up and saw that there were still three bombers left, and the other players were all skilled marksmen, and there were many of them.
He didn't fire this time, and after the bombers left, he didn't replace the bomb craters.
"We can win!"
"Take them down in the next wave!"
The players, no longer panicked, clutched their guns and waited for the final wave of bombardment.
boom!
The bombers flew in, leaving a few more contrails in the cluttered sky.
"Fire!"
Amidst the relentless, fierce gunfire, the bomber crashed in the distance.
"We won! We won!" The players stood up and cheered.
Li Changzhou, hiding in the shell crater, discarded the empty magazine from his gun, loaded a new magazine, and looked cold and stern.
Where is the King of Black Mist?
"They shouldn't have left yet, let's find them!"
Hearing the rustling footsteps getting closer, Li Changzhou took out a grenade from his waist.
"Wait, what's that?"
"New bombers?"
"No! Get out of the way!"
Amidst the devastating explosions, Li Changzhou saw four Tomahawk cruise missiles whizzing low overhead.
He could even hear the deep hum of the ramjet engine!
Like a downpour falling into a small mud puddle, the battlefield dust splatters everywhere, and the amount of mud stirred up can fill a shell crater in one go.
When the bombing ended, Li Changzhou pulled his upper body out of the mud, and the entire battlefield was silent.
He suddenly realized that he actually missed the gunshots from before. As long as those gunshots were still there, at least it proved that he didn't have to fight the enemy alone.
