The King of Black Fog

"The situation is turning grim," one said.

"Hasn't it always been like this?" came the reply.

Chapter 501 Mountain and Sea City

"Damn it! The ghouls are following us!" The little martial saint's whole body was filled with purple light, and his scalp tingled.

He instinctively clenched his fist and unleashed a purple light dragon, which struck the shadowy figure.

"ah!

"The spirit Buddha let out a scream, and wounds appeared on his body."

The damage has been transferred!

"Don't rush to act!" The Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden stopped everyone. "First, use an array to seal it, then use sonic magic to deliver it! Little monk, I think you should also learn Buddhism and guard your sanity!"

As soon as she finished speaking, four fairies appeared in a flash and stood on the four sides of the spirit Buddha.

"Four Directions Sky-Locking Formation!"

With a delicate shout, the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise appeared behind the four fairies.

The four divine beasts roared, opening their mouths to bite out a chain from the void, which firmly bound the spirit Buddha and the shadow.

...The shadowy figure was not bound, as if it did not exist; the chains only bound the spirit Buddha.

"I take refuge in the Holy and Pure Dharma Body: Its light is immeasurable and beyond description;"

"I take refuge in the Holy Sambhogakaya: the Lotus Family and the Deities of Joy and Wrath;"

The spirit Buddha closed his eyes and chanted the "Scripture of Salvation for the Dead." Layers of Buddha light, like a robe, draped over his body.

This sutra can enable evil ghosts and wronged spirits to be reborn in a superior realm, avoiding falling into the three evil realms of hungry ghosts, animals, and hell.

Two more fairies recited verses, and the priestess Tsukihime also took out her bells and began a divine dance.

The skeletons stood behind the spirit Buddha, unaffected by the chanting of Buddhist scriptures, the recitation of Taoist texts, or the dancing of the shamans.

“The Great Treasury of the Earth…” The spirit Buddha suddenly fell silent.

He looked as if something was choking him, his face showing an expression of not being able to breathe underwater, as if he was suffocating.

"Useless?" The Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden's expression turned solemn.

Currently, Earth has used almost all of its righteous methods to deal with the dead, yet it still has no way to deal with this corpse demon!

Li Changzhou stood still, a black hand appeared, reached forward, tore apart the Four Spirits Locking Heaven Formation, and grabbed the Corpse Demon.

"roar......"

The crowd heard the roar of a wild beast echoing from the void.

The black hand pulled hard.

"Ah—" Lingfo's whole body convulsed. If it weren't for his extraordinary willpower, he would have already died from the pain.

His bones, along with the ghouls, were half pulled out of his body by the black hand!

Only the skeleton remained, a bloody skeleton half pulled out of the human body!

"Your Majesty..." Lingfo was sweating profusely, "Please begin, continue...pull it out!"

His lips were trembling, and his face was as pale as paper.

His spine had been partially pulled out, preventing him from straightening his back. He lay there hunched over, his hands clasped together, softly reciting:

“All suffering is a form of spiritual practice. One can never attain Buddhahood by practicing in favorable circumstances. Lama Khyen, Lama Khyen.”

laugh!

"Um!

"The spirit Buddha let out a muffled groan."

A black hand gripped the skeleton of a shadowy figure, behind which was a human skeleton gleaming with a faint golden light.

The Flower Fairy opened her hands and gently blew on her palms. Flowers bloomed in profusion, lifting up the spirit Buddha who had lost his bones. The fragrance of flowers filled the air, and the spirit Buddha's convulsing body gradually calmed down.

Then, the dew from the flowers soaked the Buddha's body, helping to heal his injuries and regrow his bones, which caused him another bout of intense pain.

"This young monk has a good heart." Everyone turned to look, and even Guanyin praised him.

"Don't rush to restore your bones. I have a method here. See if you are willing to practice it." Li Changzhou raised his hand and pointed to the "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Discourse on the Origin Sutra" that Guanyin had given him, and passed it on to Lingfo.

Lingfo remained silent for a moment: "Thank you, Your Majesty. This humble monk is willing."

"Think it over. Once you start cultivating, you cannot become a Buddha until you have completely converted the corpse demons and refined them into Buddha bones."

No regrets.

The spirit Buddha was reciting the "Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Discourse on the Origin Sutra" when a black hand grabbed the corpse's bones, suddenly flipped it over, and pressed the corpse's bones into the spirit Buddha's body, treating them as human bones.

Lingfo's body convulsed like a shrimp that had fallen into a pot of boiling oil, and he immediately fainted.

This has exceeded the limit of human immortals' tolerance.

"Wake up!" Li Changzhou stepped forward.

With a loud shout, the spirit Buddha's body jolted as if electrocuted, and he began chanting scriptures intermittently again.

Seeing that Li Changzhou had suppressed the corpse demon, Yaochi said, "Everyone, disperse and keep an eye on your surroundings. Leave this to him."

The planet continued its journey, and the group dispersed.

Although Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has not attained Buddhahood, he possesses the power of a Buddha. The only difference between him and a Buddha is that he cannot invoke the will of Heaven. The young monk is certainly not as powerful as Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, but Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has gone to too extremes. If the human realm does not perish, how can hell be empty? Refining a corpse of the will of Heaven is extremely difficult, but at least it can be done. Guanyin sighed.

[Bodhisattva, the path you have walked has not been easy either.]

I thought it would last forever, that there was plenty of time, but who knew that the game of value would begin, and the world would head towards its end?

Having witnessed many events, Li Changzhou had a question: "I've observed that other civilizations, except for their sages, haven't been purged. Why is it that only Earth's cultivators have suffered this calamity?"

Guanyin shook her head. How could she know something that even Buddha didn't know?

[Fate is unpredictable.] That was all she could say.

Li Changzhou acted as Lingfo's protector, ensuring that he could successfully integrate the corpse demon into his body and forge it into bones.

However, to transform the remains into Buddha relics requires a long period of time, extraordinary enlightenment, and the perseverance to endure pain and backlash at all times.

Having a celestial path to the stars, yet still engaging in such arduous cultivation, is absolutely thankless and exhausting. A slight misstep could even lead to being killed by someone due to a lack of divine intervention.

The only thing worthy of respect is their spirit.

Is the spirit important?

Different people will have different answers, and there is no single correct answer.

The only thing that's certain is that you shouldn't mock people who have spirit.

If we take a longer-term view, not content with a heavenly position but aspiring to sainthood, wouldn't it be even more important to have the courage to challenge ourselves and endure suffering?
