It's finished! My first completed novel. If anyone reads it, I'll release extra chapters; it has been a solo journey for a long time!

The Yellow Millet Dream
According to XXXX University's tradition, a New Year's Eve party is held a week before New Year's Day. Huang Yaya's counselor actively encouraged her classmates to sign up for a New Year's Eve performance, and her student union also actively encouraged submissions. Whether or not you get selected isn't important; participating is what matters.
Huang Yaya now has only two choices:
Option 1: Perform on stage to earn extra credits and use rehearsal as an excuse to avoid writing a script.
Option 2: Do not perform on stage, but participate in a series of activities organized by the Student Union, including planning, promotion, and coordination of the New Year's Eve party, and most importantly, writing scripts.
It seemed like there were options, but both were terrible choices! Huang Yaya cursed herself a hundred times, wondering why she had joined the student union and why she had chosen the literature department. This led to the department director always asking her to write articles, claiming it was related to her major. She wouldn't be upset if they asked her to take photos. Although she was in the literature department, it wasn't a writer-training department.
Everyone in the dormitory was discussing what the instructor said about "two extra credits for performing at the New Year's Eve party."
"Mengmeng, do you want to sign up for a performance?" Shi Jiaojiao asked.
"I either sang out of tune during the performance or fell down while dancing!" Xu Meng answered self-deprecatingly.
"Yuanyuan, you sing so well, do you want to sign up?" Shi Jiaojiao continued to ask.
"Yaya, why don't we sign up for the chorus together?" Ning Yuanyuan didn't answer Shi Jiaojiao, but turned to ask Huang Yaya.
She was tempted by Ning Yuanyuan's suggestion, but Ning Yuanyuan was too strong, and the chorus effect might be like half a pound of scrap metal against eight ounces of gold. After thinking for a long time, Huang Yaya replied regretfully: "Yuanyuan, you sing well, but I sing badly, and I will hold you back."
"You two just ignored me?" Shi Jiaojiao said somewhat unwillingly.
"Then do you want to come with us?" Ning Yuanyuan said reluctantly.
"No." Shi Jiaojiao replied arrogantly.
"Yaya, it's okay, why don't we sing together."
Chorus is good. No one can tell who is good and who is bad in the chorus. It can also add credits and there is no need to write a script.
Huang Yaya stood up directly, walked happily to Ning Yuanyuan's chair, shook Ning Yuanyuan's hand, and said happily: "Okay, okay."
"So what song are you planning to sing?" Xu Meng asked curiously.
"Yes, you must choose the song carefully. Otherwise, you will be missed in the first part." Shi Jiaojiao took out the nail polish and said while painting her toenails.
Anyway, Huang Yaya felt that she was a mixed-up person, and the lead singer was Ning Yuanyuan, so let her choose the song she was good at. She could learn any song. Huang Yaya asked, "Yuanyuan, what song are you going to sing?"
"Is there anything you like?" Ning Yuanyuan looked at her with a smile.
"I'm not very good at singing. You're the main force. You choose. I can learn."
"Have you ever heard of Selena Gomez's "Who Says"?
She hadn't heard any of Selena's songs, but she had heard a lot about her and Justin Bieber. That's the power of gossip. Huang Yaya shook her head and replied, "I haven't heard them, but I can learn."
Huang Yaya didn’t know where she got the confidence from, she felt that she could actually learn English songs!!!
The first time she listened to it, she knew she was bragging too early. She couldn't even read the lyrics fluently, let alone sing them. Although she started learning English in elementary school and has been studying for more than ten years now, she has always been a staunch English speaker.
After trying more than a dozen times, Huang Yaya consciously gave up the song. Feeling guilty, she sent a message to Ning Yuanyuan: Yuanyuan, I'm sorry, I really can't learn this English song [crying][crying][crying]
Ning Yuanyuan quickly sent her a message: "It's okay. How about we sing Fiona Sit's "Better Me"? It's a Chinese song."
This time Huang Yaya learned her lesson. She listened to the song more than ten times, hummed along slowly, and then recorded it using the recording function on her mobile phone. She listened to it again. After about an hour and a half, she replied to Ning Yuanyuan, "Okay, this one."
When the class monitor was helping the counselor to count the registrations for the New Year's Day programs, Ning Yuanyuan submitted their program and waited for the counselor to screen it.
Huang Yaya also had reason to refuse the student union dinner tonight. She directly sent a message to their department head: Brother Li, I'm sorry, I can't go to the dinner tonight. I have signed up for the New Year's Eve party program and have to practice in the evening. I'm very sorry.
The minister quickly replied: It’s okay, practice well.
This was the second time she felt that their minister was so easy to talk to. The first time was at the beginning of the school year when he came to the class to promote the student union and encouraged everyone to sign up.
Ning Yuanyuan and Huang Yaya found a secluded corner of the school to practice at night. Listening to Ning Yuanyuan sing is simply a pleasure, and it's no exaggeration to say that her voice is heavenly. With such a great voice guiding Huang Yaya's pronunciation and transitions, there's no need to worry about not being selected for the show!
"...It's so magical. All my past mistakes have meaning. It taught me to put aside all suspicions. Maybe I am beautiful and worthy of a miracle..."
The director quickly released the results; their program had passed the screening. Huang Yaya thanked heaven and earth, but she was most grateful to Ning Yuanyuan. Finally, she had a reason not to write promotional materials!!!
They rehearsed many times during this period, and when the New Year's Eve party officially started, Shi Jiaojiao excitedly said that she wanted to do their makeup. She said that the makeup artist hired by the school would definitely not be as good as hers.
I have to say that Shi Jiaojiao is a professional when it comes to makeup. The makeup she uses is also super good, not rubbing or cakey. After the makeup is done, Shi Jiaojiao asks them to close their eyes and gives them a super long-lasting setting spray. The spray is sticky and feels like a layer of plastic film on the face after it dries.
When they were about to leave the dormitory to go to the party preparation room, Shi Jiaojiao and Xu Meng shouted happily from behind: "Come on, come on, you are the most beautiful in the school."
Singing in front of the whole school, it would be a lie to say that she wasn't nervous. Huang Yaya cheered Ning Yuanyuan up, and also cheered herself up!
"...For you, I will take extra care of myself and be a better me that you can be proud of."
After they sang the last sentence, the leaders and classmates sitting in the audience applauded. They also bowed to the audience and then left the stage. At this time, both of them felt proud and happy.
When everything was over and they returned to the dormitory, Shi Jiaojiao and Xu Meng were already waiting there, applauding them.
"Yuanyuan, Yaya, you are the pride of our dormitory." Xu Meng cheered very respectfully.
"What do you think? Is my makeup better than the one the makeup artist puts on?" Shi Jiaojiao said with some pride.
"Yes, you are awesome." Huang Yaya and Ning Yuanyuan praised.
"Then I'll be a good person and help you remove your makeup." Shi Jiaojiao said and picked up the toner and makeup remover cotton on the table.
While lying on the bed, Xu Meng uploaded the video of their performance to the dormitory group, and Shi Jiaojiao forwarded the video to her circle of friends with a comment: My makeup is super awesome, isn’t it!
Huang Yaya was so excited that she couldn't sleep that night. But luckily tomorrow was the weekend, so it didn't matter how late she slept.
