Chapter 438 Shana Crowe's Family Affairs

The maids and servants in Crow Manor were all startled when they saw the stranger breaking in.

A younger maid was about to scream when someone next to her covered her mouth: "Don't scream, he's carrying Miss Shana."

"Is Hod Claw here?" Shana asked a maid who was mopping the floor with a cotton mop.

"The master is in the study upstairs." The maid stopped mopping the floor and said, "Miss, didn't you go to study far away? How come you graduated and came back so soon?"

"He told others that I went to study? What a lie! It seems that I also inherited his talent." Shana sneered.

A butler turned around and went upstairs to inform Master Claude. Shana recognized that he was a flatterer butler who had secretly said bad things about her in the small room and thought she was a bad girl. But when she pushed open the door, he immediately smiled and respectfully called her "Miss".

Less than two minutes later, the sound of wooden shoes clacking came from upstairs, and a middle-aged man with a short mustache walked down from upstairs. The man was wearing a high-necked aristocratic suit and a round hat. He was the owner of the manor - Baron Hood Claw.

"Shana, you bad thing, why are you back? Didn't Lord Yang take good care of you?" Mr. Claude said in the middle of the stairs, his tone a little dissatisfied, "He collected one hundred taels of silver in tuition from me a year, how could he let you skip classes so easily?" He pretended not to see Wang Xiaohai who was carrying Shana on his back.

"Baron Crow, you're going too far. I just argued with you for a few words. Do you really want Yang Jiaoshou to kill me?" Shana raised her voice. "I get it. You already have three sons. You don't need me as a daughter!"

"Nonsense! If I hadn't acknowledged you as my daughter, I would have strangled you to death at birth!" Baron Crow was so angry that he blew his beard. "It seems that this seaside training center is really useless. I spent so much money and couldn't cure you!"

"Even though you didn't cure me, you made me understand." Shana said, "You didn't treat me as your daughter at all, but only as a tool for political marriage. Why did you send me to the Seaside Center? Wasn't it because I rejected Viscount Bet's proposal?"

"What's wrong with Viscount Bet? He's rich and influential, a major figure in Clay City," Baron Claw said. "Do you still want to marry a poor boy and suffer a lifetime?"

"You're only saying this for your business!" Shana said. "I'm not your political tool! Besides, I'm just an illegitimate daughter. My wet nurse has been taking care of me since I was little. You've never fulfilled your responsibilities as a father!"

"I provide you with food and clothing, isn't that enough? Besides, I'm doing this for your own good!" Baron Crow shouted. "If you marry Viscount Bet, you'll never have to worry about food and clothing for the rest of your life. Can anyone else afford this? Are you going to marry this guy who carried you to the manor? He may look handsome, but handsomeness can't be eaten."

Wang Xiaohai was speechless as he was implicated again.

"For my own good!" Shana retorted, "Viscount Bet's son is several years older than me, and two of his wives have died. God knows how they died."

"How dare you speak to me like that and even talk back? Looks like you need to change your education center!" Baron Crow said angrily, "You're becoming more and more rebellious!"

"Excuse me for interrupting," Wang Xiaohai said, "although she is your daughter, she is also a free individual, not a pig or sheep that you can raise and then slaughter. If you truly care about her, you should respect her choices and not force her to do things she doesn't want to do."

"What do you know!" Baron Crow said to Wang Xiaohai, "She's still young, how can she understand what's good and what's bad? I'm older than her, so I naturally know more. The choices you make rashly when you're young will most likely lead to regrets when you grow up."

"Since you know she'll regret the choices she makes rashly when she's young, why don't you wait a few years until she's older and then make her own choice?" Wang Xiaohai asked. "If you help her choose now, won't she regret it when she grows up?"

"Wait until she grows up? How long? By then she'll be old and ugly, and no poor boy would want her!" Baron Crow laughed contemptuously, "Don't think you'll have a chance if you help persuade her. I won't agree to let Shana marry you!"

Wang Xiaohai thought to himself: "I didn't say I wanted to marry her, why does Baron Clau always think so?" But Wang Xiaohai couldn't say what he was thinking, otherwise it would make Shana sad. He is a prodigal son now, and a prodigal son is lonely and cannot stay. He can like someone, but he cannot stop, like a meteor flying across the sky, which cannot be stopped from going away.

"I believe she will grow up quickly," Wang Xiaohai said. "The first sign of her growing up is that she no longer obeys you blindly, questions your authority, and learns to think independently."

"Hmph, you're such a smooth talker. Anyway, I don't care. This is my family affair, and you, an outsider, have no right to interfere!" Mr. Clau felt that he could not argue with Wang Xiaohai, so he used family affairs as an excuse.

"If, I mean if, the king of your country passes by here and hears about this, can he do anything about it?" Wang Xiaohai asked.

"Of course! We are all subjects of the king. He can order me to do anything, even the Marquis of Sean," Baron Crow said. "But you are obviously not a king, nor a marquis, and I never consider such a possibility with a probability as low as zero. It's like thinking that you might be hit by a car when you go out, but you are so scared that you dare not go out? Could you be a prince of some country? If you really are a prince, I can apologize to you and marry my daughter to you immediately! Are you?"

"I'm not a prince," Wang Xiaohai replied. "You just said you were hit by a car. I want to ask, what powers your cars here? Horses, cows? Or something else?" Wang Xiaohai wanted to know how far technology had advanced on this continent. This was his primary concern.
