Chapter 6 Audience
The flowers in the Royal Gardens are different each year, each a vibrant spectacle. Most of them hail from different galaxies, originally growing in diverse environments, yet miraculously converge here to form a dazzling sea of blossoms.
Every time Nuhra returned to the capital, he would be summoned by Emperor Clarence to report to the Royal Gardens. However, in his opinion, rather than "reporting", he believed that this was more of a means for Clarence and Amiya to win over the new nobles.
Nuhra raised his hand and straightened the collar of his military uniform, confirming his appearance before stepping out of the fork in the road behind the bushes. He spotted a few old acquaintances waiting in the pavilion from afar, and he quickened his pace toward it.
"Admiral Nuhla, long time no see." A man who bore a striking resemblance to the emperor raised his hand in a friendly gesture. This man was the emperor's brother, Imperial Marshal Claire.
Next to Claire sat Samantha, the captain of the Royal Guard. She didn't say anything, nor did she look at Nohra, but simply waved in his direction a few times as a greeting.
"Marshal Claire, Captain Samantha." Nuhra put on a standard social smile and greeted the two. "It seems I am still a little late."
"We came too early," Claire smiled and shook her head. "Let's wait a little longer. There's still one person who hasn't arrived yet."
Nuhra nodded silently and sat down across from Samantha, not saying a word. For a moment, the pavilion fell silent, the only sound being the gentle rustling of the wind through the flowers and trees.
He had a complicated relationship with Claire. The Imperial Marshal had been responsible for combating interstellar bandits in his early years, and Nuhra, a former pirate, was one of their old rivals. He had never expected that, given the unpredictable nature of life, Nuhra would actually have the opportunity to sit down with him peacefully, and even become their subordinate.
"Good day, everyone is here now."
At this moment, a clear, hearty young man's voice rang out from outside the court. The three people inside, who had been silent for a while, stood up to greet him. It was Emperor Clarence, followed by Chancellor Amya and a young officer with the rank of Lieutenant General.
Nuhra narrowed her eyes and identified the officer following behind the emperor and the prime minister as Lieutenant General Isfandic, the head of the military security center.
"Your Majesty." The three people in the pavilion stood up and saluted the emperor. Lieutenant General Is, who was one level lower in rank behind Clarence, also saluted the three people in the pavilion.
Emperor Clarence pursed his lips and chuckled, nodding in response to the group, "Everyone, don't be shy. I invited you here today because I want to understand the situation."
His behavior and manners revealed extraordinary nobility. He walked towards the main seat with a dignified gait. After sitting down, he leaned lightly on the armrest and adjusted himself to a comfortable posture.
Seeing everyone seated, Prime Minister An Mia transmitted a report to the holographic screens in front of the officers and said calmly, "Recently, pirate activity has been rampant. Traces of several pirate groups, such as the 'Silver Fox' and the 'Lenaruku', have been discovered in border systems and trading systems... Furthermore, reliable intelligence indicates that the combat effectiveness of these pirate groups has increased abnormally, causing certain losses to the defense forces."
"Is it because of 'Rui Lei Si'?" Claire frowned and turned her gaze to Nuhra opposite her.
"We can't rule this out. We encountered the same situation during the large-scale Alpha-class battle before the Seventh Army's rotation," Nuhra pondered for a moment before continuing. "Furthermore, after the battle, we also confiscated a considerable amount of raw materials and some semi-finished products from them."
"Our key agents haven't received any more intelligence," Is said calmly, scanning the report sent by An Mia. "They are still tracing the source of the raw material trade with the space pirate organization."
"But there is some very interesting information. They learned from the informant that the Black Mist Pirates Group has recently had some friction on the Silver Fox's route..." Is's inquiring gaze passed over the translucent holographic screen and was cast on Nuhra.
"Maybe it's just due to some conflict of interest... The Black Mist hasn't appeared in the area surrounding the trade system for a long time, and I know very little about it." Nuhra responded calmly. He picked up the scented tea in front of him, which was of the perfect temperature, and stared down at the teaspoon gently swirling in the teacup, creating a small vortex that floated in the center of the cup.
Is nodded noncommittally, agreeing with Nuhra's statement: "Perhaps, after all, we don't have more intelligence to compare."
"I think, in the absence of an exact report, we still have to analyze based on the facts... right?" Clarence, who had been silent since sitting down, finally spoke. His smiling eyes lightly swept over Nuhra and Is, and then turned back to the report in front of him.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Yis knew that his words and actions were wrong, so he immediately restrained his attitude and acted as if he was willing to learn.
Nuhra stopped stirring, raised the teacup to her lips, took a sip of the elegant and fragrant floral tea, then placed it back on the table steadily and spoke calmly, "Your Majesty, everyone, I have a new development to report regarding the Rui Lei Division."
Amiya and Clarence exchanged a glance, and Clarence nodded. Nuhra then sat up straight and spoke sternly and concisely, "A Ruileisi has appeared on the capital planet."
Samantha, who had been listening silently to the discussion, finally joined the conversation. Her expression became serious, and she stared at Nuhra. "Admiral Nuhra, is this true?"
The other people present had different expressions, with a flicker of surprise on their faces. For a moment, everyone's eyes were focused on Nuhra's face. Nuhra said seriously, "I promise, because I handled this matter personally a few days ago."
Nuhra transferred a document to several people's terminals. It was a detailed report he had compiled recently regarding Kris's allergic reaction to steroids at the military dinner. The report clearly outlined the events and the results of Kris's medical examination after he was taken to the hospital.
"I was also at the party that night..." Samantha said in a heavy tone, recalling the events of that night quickly in her mind.
"He left the banquet hall feeling unwell and collapsed right in front of my lounge," Nuhra explained, briefly summarizing the evening's events, citing the report. "After briefly managing his condition, I summoned the Seventh Army's doctors, Meyaksin and Arnold Joe, for further examination. They confirmed that his sudden illness was caused by a severe allergic reaction to radix."
"Can you confirm the source of the remdesivir he took?" Claire finished reading the report and calmly pointed out the key point.
"Not yet, but it's almost certain that Chris didn't take Reneline on his own initiative. Someone else orchestrated it, causing him to unknowingly come into contact with Reneline, leading to a severe allergic reaction," Nuhel explained in a serious manner. Claire simply nodded and didn't press further.
"Our entire intelligence network hasn't intercepted any information regarding the internal flow of the Ruilei Division..." Iss looked incredulous, but quickly regained his professional demeanor. "The Security Center will focus on strengthening inspections of routes within the empire."
"I'll also be collaborating with the police on the Capital Planet to conduct an investigation," Samantha wrote quickly on the terminal. Then, looking up, she solemnly assured Clarence, acting as captain of the Royal Guard.
"How long will Nuhra stay on this shift?" Claire looked up at Nuhra and asked suddenly.
"Eight interstellar moons," Nuhra replied.
"That's enough." Amiya glanced at Nuhra, her tone calm as if she was deciding what to eat for dinner.
"Nuhra, you and Samantha will be responsible for tracking the whereabouts of the Xingrui Classification Bureau in the capital." Clarence thought for a moment and made a decision. "There is no need to report the emergency. Make your own decision."
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Nuhra and Samantha responded at the same time with serious expressions.
"Time waits for no one, let's stop here today." Clarence's initial leisurely smile had disappeared, and the expressionless emperor only had a hint of coldness and depth left on his face.
Upon hearing this, Is and Samantha quickly stood up and left. Marshal Claire and Prime Minister Amiya had other important matters to discuss with Emperor Clarence, so they stayed.
Nuhra, who was supposed to leave with Samantha and the others, remained where she was. Seeing this, An Mia felt a little strange and asked, "General Nuhra, is there anything else you need?"
"I have one more thing I want to explain to you all in advance," Nuhra paused, then continued, "I plan to marry Krisnar."
Claire raised an eyebrow and subconsciously turned to look at Clarence, who was seated at the head of the table. Clarence, somewhat bewildered by Nuhra's sudden decision, exchanged a look of surprise with Amiya.
For a short time, no one commented on Nuhra's sudden decision, because it really took some time to digest...
"Logically speaking, I don't think I have the right to interfere with your freedom of marriage." Clarence was the first to speak out. He spread his hands and said indifferently, "Even if the other party is one of your mission targets... as long as it doesn't violate Imperial law, why not?"
"If that old fox, Stephane, knew about this, he'd probably be running amuck in the military for a while." Claire was well aware of Stephane's cunning and calculating nature. He didn't really care about who Nohra decided to marry, and his words were just a little teasing towards Stephane.
An Miya was the calmest among the group. With a serious look in his eyes, he reminded them, "It's okay to get married, but remember, don't get sidetracked during the investigation."
"Yes." Nuhra responded modestly, then stood up and left. After all, he had said everything he wanted to say.
What needs to be done now is to pass the news of the marriage to old Nar, who has been eager to establish a relationship with him.
As for the opinion of the other party, Chris... Nuhra thought of the young man in the ward who refused to drink the fruit wine, and felt a little weird.
He will accept it.
