In the immortal realms, it’s rumored that Wang Yao, the Matchmaker, is untouchable. Offending others might lead to a fight, but offending the Matchmaker could lead to your family tree’s next versio...
But the most comical thing was Pang Zhen's wings. Two small, transparent, and thin wings were flapping rapidly on his shoulder blades, which was completely disproportionate to Pang Zhen's huge body. Zhang Zhong's wings, although much larger and able to cover his whole body, were just two pale yellow shells.
None of them were as broad and elegant as Jian You's wings, nor were they as colorful, dazzling, and beautiful, making them extremely eye-catching in the air.
Wang Yao thought to himself, "Under such beautiful wings is actually a grown man. Even if that grown man is fair-skinned and delicate, and speaks and acts in a very effeminate manner, it still gives people a rather disgusting feeling. No wonder male Bing and Fen species are not well-liked in the Zhanghuang clan."
"This old man awaits the arrival of the Matchmaker God so that he may soon win the heart of his beloved!" Tongxuan suddenly shouted from below, startling Wang Yao so much that he almost fell off his donkey.
"That old bastard is really wicked. What kind of nonsense is he spouting? It's such a waste of my clean reputation," Wang Yao thought bitterly.
He was about to lower his head to correct Tongxuan's two sentences when, unexpectedly, the donkey he was riding accelerated, carrying him into the sky and soaring towards the vast south.
Just as Tongxuan said, Wang Yao traveled freely within the Zhanghuang tribe. The cities he passed through were busy with moving in and out, and the entire Zhanghuang tribe was undergoing a massive migration. No one had the energy to pay attention to the few powerful beings flying overhead.
Wang Yao and the others weren't all flying high in the sky, but Liu Heng of the Mang tribe was gliding, or to put it more accurately, running. However, after he took a step down and his body leaped up, he could glide in the air for a long time before taking another step down.
His running speed was not much slower than flying in the sky. He could traverse mountains and rivers and pass through cities without any hindrance. After all, level 7 and above powerhouses were rare in the Zhanghuang clan, and no one was stupid enough to go up and provoke him.
He was incredibly fast, and in the blink of an eye he had already darted far away. Even if a monster tried to stop him, it would be difficult for it to do so.
"Lord Yue Lao, we're at Banlan Mountain ahead. Should we go down and rest? Beyond that lies the territory of the Jiu Clan. Flying like this might provoke their hostility." After flying for about a day, Zhang Liang flew to Wang Yao's side to report.
"Alright!" Wang Yao nodded, controlling the donkey to slowly descend. Pang Zhen and the others followed. Wang Yao saw a continuous mountain range below, with trees of different colors, a truly colorful sight.
"Lord Yue Lao, let's stop at that pavilion. It's called Wangshan Pavilion. After we cross the mountain at the foot of the pavilion, we'll reach the territory of the Jiu Clan." Zhang Liang led Wang Yao along a mountain path to the top of a mountain peak, where a small pavilion stood.
Not long after Wang Yao and the others landed, Liu Heng caught up without even panting.
Several people stood in the pavilion gazing at the opposite mountain peak. They saw that there was another pavilion on the top of that mountain that looked exactly like the one in the Wangshan Pavilion. According to Zhang Liang, that was the Beifeng Pavilion of the Jiu tribe, a very clear landmark marking the boundary between the two tribes.
"Is the Glazed Valley you stayed in before here?" Wang Yao asked curiously.
"We still have to go west. This road is the shortest route into the Jiu tribe." As expected, Zhang Liang knew the roads and directions of the southern border of the Zhanghuang tribe very well because he had worked for the Zhanghuang Express. He led Wang Yao and the others away from Wangshan Pavilion and down the mountain road.
According to the official border demarcation between the two tribes, one must cross a stream at the foot of the mountain to enter the Jiu tribe's territory. Since this is already the border area between the two tribes, the Jiu tribe would certainly have troops stationed there, so flying across is inconvenient; they can only cross on foot.
The mountain road is winding and the trees on both sides are so lush that they cover the road into a narrow gap. In some places, it is even necessary to cut and hack the trees before it can be passed. It feels like the mountain road will be swallowed up by the plants soon.
“Our tribe and the Jiu tribe actually have a special train route, and the Shu tribe also has many flights crossing the border. Apart from hunters, this mountain road is rarely used anymore.” Chen Qi explained to Wang Yao from the side. Liu Heng took the initiative to go ahead, his right arm transforming into a sharp blade, slashing through the plants to clear a path.
Wang Yao knew that his departure was abrupt, and the Zhanghuang clan was undergoing tremendous changes. Tongxuan was unable to arrange suitable transportation for him. Moreover, he was only a member of the Jiujiu clan who had been passing through, so he had no complaints about it.
However, he also wanted to meet the chief of the Jiu tribe during this trip to see if he could bring the Jiu tribe into the investigation team's family. So he still had a sliver of hope that he could get past the Jiu tribe.
Liu Heng, who was ahead, suddenly stopped and stared blankly at the bushes by the roadside.
“From the Jiu Clan.” Chen Qi frowned, took a few steps forward, and came to Liu Heng’s side.
Wang Yao looked closely and saw a patch of lush vegetation along the roadside ahead. However, hidden among the mottled colors of the vegetation were shadows, as difficult to discern as chameleons.
“Friends of the Jiu tribe, if I’m not mistaken, this should still be the territory of the Zhanghuang tribe. How did you get here?” Chen Qi asked loudly.
"Zhang Huang Clan? Didn't they say they changed their name to Huang Clan? How come the Zhang Huang Clan still exists?" The shadows moved in response, slowly swimming onto the path, revealing themselves to be enormous pythons.
“That’s an internal matter of my clan. You don’t need to ask any more questions. You still haven’t answered me. What do you mean by trespassing into my clan’s territory?” Chen Qi said in a deep voice.
The pythons flicked their tongues, their bodies twisting and gradually rising. In a short while, they transformed into several powerful humanoid figures in front of Wang Yao and the others. Each of them was dressed in close-fitting scale armor, had bald heads, and although they all appeared to be male, their bodies swayed gently like willows in the breeze.
