Chapter 30 Numb.30 Lying

The bathroom door was pushed open from the inside, and Xu Wu, with her hair down, came out and bumped right into Jie Ying, who was carrying a hairdryer.

The other person had changed into a looser shirt, his hair was half-wet and hanging on his forehead, making him look listless. The wide legs of his black trousers almost completely covered his feet.

The hairdryer he was holding was the purple one from the Nelly brand store, which starts at four figures. Xu Wu had seen the ads for this brand before; they advertised for it everywhere.

She had one at home too. Xu Wu looked away, calm and collected. It was just a pirated copy; as long as it worked, it was fine, and it was durable.

Xu Wu, wearing slippers and drying her hair with a towel, raised an eyebrow at Jie Ying, as if asking why he hadn't left yet.

Her freshly washed hair was still dripping wet, soaking not only her pajamas but also her neck and collarbone, which hung precariously, especially her clothes—

Jieying didn't dare to look closely. She glanced at it quickly and then lowered her head to cover it up, unconsciously increasing the pressure on the hairdryer.

All he could see was the dull, lifeless floor, but if he raised his head even slightly, he could see Xu Wu's toes encased in slippers.

His clothes were indeed too big for Xu Wu, hanging loosely on her body, with the sleeves dangling down to her elbows and the collar open, revealing her delicate, fair collarbone.

Further down, the girl's figure, meticulously sculpted by the Creator, exuded an alluring fragrance; she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Jie Ying moved her hand at her side, but just as she was about to act, she heard Xu Wu's cold voice come from in front of her: "Don't look up."

He froze for a moment, clenched his fist and then relaxed it, then silently nodded in response to her words.

Seeing this, Xu Wu breathed a sigh of relief. Jie Ying didn't have a vest that fit her, and she didn't want to wear one he had worn. The best solution was to make him stop looking at her.

Anyway, she was used to having her head down, so she didn't feel any guilt.

The glass windows of the room were tightly closed, and the rain outside had developed into a thunderstorm while she was taking a shower, with flashes of lightning interspersed from time to time.

The wind and rain lashed against the glass like madmen, leaving countless streaks of water on it. The two were silent, and for a moment the only sound was the air conditioner running.

Because of the rain, the lights were off in the dim environment, and Xu Wu couldn't even see Jie Ying's expression clearly, but judging from his unconscious stroking of the hair dryer, it probably wasn't anything good.

"Bring me the hairdryer. Where's your hair?" Xu Wu quickly dried her hair, took off the bath towel, and tossed it onto the small sofa next to her.

Jie Ying obediently kept her head down: "No, don't worry, there's another hair dryer."

"......."

Damn, rich people.

Xu Wu remained expressionless and told him to put the hairdryer on the table and leave.

Jie Ying did as instructed, but just as he was about to leave the room, he seemed to remember something. He paused but didn't turn around, and whispered, "Wu, Wu's clothes, I need..."

Xu Wu waited patiently for a long time without any response. She glanced at his stammering back and walked over to get the hairdryer, plugging it in as she teased, "What, are you planning to do my laundry?"

"!"

It was meant as a joke, but Jie Xiang suddenly turned around as if he had heard something divinely granted. Even in the dim light, you could see the sparkle in his eyes as he suppressed his excitement: "Is...is it okay!"

Their eyes met unexpectedly, and the instant he turned around, Xu Wu instinctively turned her back and scolded him, "Turn around!"

"Yes, I'm sorry."

Jie Ying hurriedly covered her eyes and ran away.

The room became quiet, but the door remained open.

Xu Wu stood still for a few seconds, then exhaled and pressed the hair dryer switch with her thumb.

This genuine hair dryer doesn't make a loud noise like other brands; instead, it's designed to be quiet, with only a hissing sound echoing in the room.

Jieying is such a strange person, it's unbelievable that she would even think of washing her clothes. What a joke.

Xu Wu turned off the hair dryer with a stern face and then unplugged it.

I should be cursing this person, saying he's disgusting, has no boundaries, and is a complete freak, just like before.

Xu Wu looked down at the hairdryer lying on the table, and for some reason, she couldn't say anything.

She didn't want to say those things to him.

She didn't know when it started.

"Meow meow".

The faint meow of a cat pulled her back from her thoughts.

When Xu Wu came to her senses, she saw the little tabby cat swagger in from outside, then nimbly leap onto the table and sit down in front of her, licking its hands on its own.

That's really unconventional.

Xu Wu reached out and patted its head. It had only spent two days with Jie Ying, but it had already picked up his self-centeredness perfectly.

After drying her hair, Xu Wu went back to the bathroom to comb it again before she was done. Wherever she went, the little tabby cat followed her, and she couldn't shake it off.

In some ways, cats and their owners are quite similar.

Xu Wu sat on another small sofa in the corner, sitting sideways with her legs curled up, her whole body swallowed up by the sofa.

In the short time I didn't check my phone, besides Fu Xi's message, a friend request popped up.

"Fu Xi: Shang Xu will replace Zheng Liangwen as the male lead later on."

Bonus: a kneeling and kowtowing emoji of apology.

Fu Xi: I can't persuade him, I simply can't persuade him.

Another green little man emoji with a forced smile.

Xu Wu frowned, long-pressed her first message, clicked "quote," and added a question mark.

Fu Xi replied very quickly.

"Fu Xi: Has Shang Xu added you?"

Five: Yeah, you gave it to me.

Xu Wu glanced at the friend request message. The profile picture was a green landscape photo, and the caption was simple: I am Shang Xu.

Fu Xi: I didn't want to give it to you, but...

Leave behind a meme of someone wailing and crying.

Xu Wu pinched the bridge of her nose; she knew what Fu Xi wanted to say.

Although she didn't know Shang Xu well, from the two times she met him, he seemed quite stubborn. As long as he achieved his goal, he would do anything, whether it was gentle persuasion or something else.

As she pondered whether to pass, the little tabby cat came over and jumped onto her stomach, finding a comfortable spot to nestle in her arms.

Xu Wu reached out and scratched its chin. Seeing that it looked happy, he thought for a moment, then grabbed its paw and tapped "accept" on his phone screen.

"You've added Vortex, you can start chatting now."

"You did this." Xu Wu rubbed the little tabby's face, whispering devilishly.

The kitten didn't understand; it just tilted its head and rubbed against her hand.

Xu Wu's "cute torment syndrome" was satisfied. She hugged the little tabby cat and let it watch as she changed the nickname to Shang Xu.

My phone vibrated.

"Shang Xu: I thought you wouldn't pass."

Xu Wu didn't reply; instead, she switched to check Fu Xi's message.

Fu Xi: You added it.

Five: Yeah, added.

Fu Xi: [Poor Octopus Brother.jpg]

Another rainstorm warning popped up on my phone screen. It wasn't going to stop anytime soon, and by around 6 p.m., it was getting heavier.

Jieying asked her if she wanted to stay overnight, as the roads were slippery in the rain and it would be dangerous to go home.

Xu Wu thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement without arguing.

During the meal, Jieying found her a coat to wear first. It wasn't thick; it was a thin style that's commonly worn in autumn.

When this garment was taken out of his closet, it didn't have a strong freesia scent; instead, it had a very faint orange and sea salt aroma.

Xu Wu sat in the chair watching him open the takeout box, thinking to herself, or rather, that was the very essence of Jieying's flavor.

A cool and refreshing feeling.

While taking a shower, Xu Wu noticed the shower gel in the bathroom; it wasn't sea salt or freesia, but she could smell it now.

She had a faint fragrance after her shower, but the sea salt scent of the clothes she was wearing was strong, clinging to her tightly and refusing to leave any gaps in her body, trying to squeeze into every strand of her hair and pores.

Jie Ying's takeout order was quite considerate of her tastes; the order notes specifically stated "no cilantro."

It was as if she had done it hundreds or thousands of times, but Xu Wu knew that she had never mentioned her taste to Jie Ying, and even Fu Xi didn't know.

She didn't expose him.

After dinner, Jie Ying finally let out a breath as she closed the bedroom door, her palms sweating with nervousness.

He felt like he wasn't being fed, but being tortured.

Xu Wu actually agreed to have dinner with him. He patted his face, which was belatedly burning, and even wanted to cover his wildly beating heart to calm it down.

It's just a meal... just a meal.

Jieying slowly squatted down and hugged herself, biting her lower lip, but they were eating at the same table.

The way Wu eats is also very pleasant; she eats slowly and deliberately, chewing each bite an average of twenty-five times before swallowing.

Her cheeks would puff out and down with the movements of her mouth, looking very soft and pleasant to touch.

Jie Ying took a deep breath, especially since she was still wearing her own clothes.

He had begun to feel jealous of inanimate objects, even though the clothes were his.

How could such a thin layer of fabric so easily cling to Xu Wu's skin, be touched by her, and accompany her to sleep?

I hate it so much, ....

But there's one thing that evens things out: he also told a lie.

Jie Yingxiang: A lie that absolutely must not be discovered.

At 11:00 PM, Xu Wu finished supervising her online evening self-study class on Friday, washed up, turned off the lights, and lay in bed, listening to the rain outside as she drifted off to sleep.

The room was quiet, with only the sound of her steady breathing.

Just as she was about to fall into darkness, she inexplicably heard a faint sound of a door opening, so small as to be almost imperceptible.

It rang twice in a row.

Xu Wu's hands, hidden under the blanket, were clenched into fists with tension, and her body was tense.

The visitor seemed unaware of her unusual behavior.

The shadowy figure surveyed her face from above, and as if that wasn't enough, taking advantage of the darkness, his gaze moved with the ease of a cat.

Xu Wu's sleeping face was different from usual; it was both fragile and beautiful.

He wouldn't give a malicious smirk, nor would he say he was disgusting in a meaningful way.

The rise and fall of the chest is proof of breathing.

The gaze that fell upon that shadow suddenly grew heavy.

Just get a little closer, get a little closer to her.

Lured by desire, he slowly bent down, his eyes fixed on the girl's lips, his head resting on the crook of her neck.

He took a gentle sniff, and the scent of freesia mixed with sea salt wafted out, moistening his nasal passages.

It all smelled like him. Jie Ying smiled and felt her heart swell.

Xu Wu was completely enveloped by his aura.

The next second, just as he was about to get up, he suddenly felt another gaze open.

It exuded a chill.

Jie Ying's body was stiff.

He looked up—

Xu Wu opened her eyes at some point, her expression colder than the damp, rainy night outside; she was wide awake and not sleepy at all.
