Chapter 1020 Together

Carlos clutched his heart with his right hand; the dull pain made him reluctant to open his eyes, as if he couldn't even pry open his heavy eyelids.

Huang Meihua was watching her son, and was about to speak when Beth stopped her and shook her head. In this situation, she couldn't say anything.

The child's cries woke Carlos.

"Dad, are you tired? Why don't you go and rest?"

Carlos shook his head. "Annie, Daddy's fine. You really want to see your mother, don't you?"

"Dad, is it okay? I promise I won't let it interfere with my studies, really, I swear."

"Okay, I'll book the plane tickets tomorrow. Mom and Dad, are you going too?"

"Yes, I'll take this opportunity to go back and visit. Your dad will come with me."

"Okay, I'll make the arrangements tomorrow. I'll send a few people to accompany you."

“Yes, look, this is Wang Xinyi’s letter. It says very clearly that Ningning can persevere. Annie will definitely be fine, and Daniel should be able to as well.”

"Mom, I'm not worried. Go and check on Hongmei, and check on me too."

"Okay, we expect to be back before Christmas."

"Okay, no rush. Have fun."

Mom, I'm a little tired, I'm going upstairs to rest.

"Annie, Dad took the video camera upstairs. We'll have someone burn a disc for you to keep tomorrow."

"Okay, Dad. Uncle Zhao will be coming over for dinner in a bit."

"Okay, I'll come down for dinner." Carlos said and went upstairs. Back in his study, he looked at Zhang Hongmei over and over again. This self-destructive behavior did nothing to alleviate the pain in his heart.

That evening, Zhao Hao came over, received Zhang Hongmei's letter, and eagerly opened it.

Seeing Annie looking at him curiously, he hugged her and looked at her together. Then he looked at Daniel and carried him on his back.

Looking at Zhao Haozheng like this, Huang Meihua felt that he was more like a father than Carlos.

Annie went upstairs to call Carlos for dinner. Zhao Hao saw Carlos and understood. He knew Zhang Hongmei had given birth to four sons, but he didn't show it at the McCann's house.

"Zhao Haozheng, are you going?"

"I'm not going. It's not good if there's no one home. Besides, my dad wants me to send someone over." Zhao Hao didn't ask Carlos if he was going or not, knowing he definitely wouldn't go now.

"Ask Wyatt tomorrow. That guy's been really busy lately, so he probably won't have time either."

After the meal, Zhao Hao left, taking with him the letter Zhang Hongmei had given to Wyatt.

The two arranged to meet at a bar. "Don't you want to read the letter?"

Wyatt shook his head. "I'm not looking at it now. The fact that you got the letter from Carlos's house, and that Carlos didn't call me, means the news in it isn't good."

"Hongmei gave birth less than a month ago, and she gave birth to four boys! Quadruplets!"

Wyatt dropped his wine glass on the table, splashing red wine onto his white shirt.

After a moment's reaction, Wyatt laughed. "Four sons? Quadruplets?"

“Yes! And Annie told me that Red Plum filmed her and Daniel, but Carlos took the video. I didn’t see the four little brothers that Annie mentioned.”

"Bartender! I'll treat everyone in the bar to a drink." Wyatt said, picking up a glass from the table. But with red wine on his hands, he smashed the glass on the floor.

The only sound in the bar was soothing music; no one spoke.

Wyatt smiled at the bartender. "My hand slipped. Have someone clean it up. Pour everyone drinks, and give me another one."

Looking at Wyatt like this, Zhao Hao felt a little uneasy, but was glad that he had been able to settle down early.

Zhao Hao was driving Wyatt home, and Shen Yunfang was taking care of him. He had eaten a bit too much.

The next morning, Wyatt sat at the dining table having breakfast with Zhao Hao.

"Will Annie and her family of four leave today?"

"I don't know. Carlos will definitely make arrangements today, but I'm not sure if it will be today or a few days later."

"Yes, I called him to prepare a gift for the child. Zhao Haozheng, do you think Hongmei would agree if I became the child's godfather?"

"I don't know. You'll have to go and ask him yourself."

Wyatt shook his head. "I'm not going this year. Let's wait a couple of years."

Carlos didn't sleep a wink all night, and the next day he had his driver take him to the company.

He instructed his secretary to prepare plane tickets for eight people. He also arranged for three bodyguards and a nanny. Afterward, he threw himself into his work.

At lunchtime, I received a call from Wyatt, and the two of them arranged to have lunch together.

But I had no appetite. "Wyatt, you didn't invite me over just to drink, did you?"

"Just asking Annie and the others when they're leaving?"

"Fly to country Y tomorrow morning, and to country X the day after tomorrow morning."

"Yes, I'll go to your house tonight. Hongmei has given birth, and as the child's future godfather, I have to bring a gift back with me."

Wyatt thought for a moment and said, "I don't need Uncle Beth to take me. I'll send someone personally to go in my place."

"Why don't you go yourself? And do you want to be the children's godfather?"

"Yes, I want to be the children's godfather, but I won't tell Zhang Hongmei now. I'll tell her when I go there next year or the year after."

I'm not going not because I'm busy with work, but because I don't have the courage. I can't face Zhang Hongmei and her child right now.

The two remained silent for a while, then left together. Carlos also wondered what gift he should give the child.

But I just don't have a clear idea. What should I give as a gift?

I can't concentrate on work anymore. I'm driving home.

When I got home, I called my secretary and told him to prepare another plane ticket.

"Mom, what gift should I give my child?"

Huang Meihua was taken aback. "Your father and I gave each of the children one percent of McCann's shares."

"Then I'll do the same."

Huang Meihua fell silent. She felt this was going too far, but she genuinely didn't know how to object to her son.

One percent it is. "Carlos, I've prepared fifty cans of milk powder. The factory will deliver them in a bit."

"oh?"

“Hongmei is feeding four children by herself, and I don’t think she can keep it up for much longer.”

Carlos understood now. "Mom, I'll send someone to deliver formula to the baby every six months from now on."

"Okay, I'll tell Hongmei. Didn't Daniel drink formula the whole time? And he's still growing up healthy and strong, isn't he?"

"Okay, I'll arrange it. I'll call and confirm in a bit. Mom, I'm going upstairs now."

Huang Meihua was preparing the baby supplies they had bought that morning, along with clothes for Zhang Hongmei, with the help of the maid. These alone filled three large bags. The most strenuous task was getting the formula; with four people accompanying them, it was truly a small group.

We prepared plenty of packaging bags, and the milk powder also needed to be packed properly.
