Chapter 43 The Fist Hardened

Jiang Meimei: "???"

My own husband...

Are you kidding me?

Boss, why did you leave so quietly? You didn't even take the elevator?

Jiang Meimei avoided Li Zhi's scrutinizing gaze and ran ahead of Zhou Yunshi, briefly explaining the situation.

She observed carefully and discovered that the boss wasn't even out of breath, having climbed several floors!

What's even stranger is that Li Zhi isn't panting at all, unlike his own man... He's not doing well.

Jiang Meimei shook her head, and an idea quietly formed in her mind.

She shifted her gaze inch by inch, her pupils dilating rapidly.

No way!

How long did they listen from behind!

"Son, you're finally back." Chen Yan said, adjusting her demeanor to normal when she saw Zhou Yunshi.

Zhou Yunshi's expression was indifferent, revealing neither joy nor anger. "Excuse me."

Chen Yan paused, pursed her lips, and weakly explained, "Son, it's not what you see. I rushed over at midday and was locked out before I could even eat a meal..."

"Quiet."

His deep voice was faint, yet carried an inexplicable sense of oppression.

Chen Yan shut her mouth and followed behind.

Now they'll open the door, right?

"I'm back."

The sound from outside the door made her feel safe, so Sun Lifang lay flat on the sofa without moving.

"Open the door, I'm back."

I knocked twice, but there was no response.

"Who gave her the audacity to be so arrogant, thinking she owns the place..." Chen Yan muttered under her breath, but noticed that the man beside her was getting increasingly gloomy.

Read the room and keep quiet.

Zhou Yunshi felt his pockets; they were empty. He had forgotten to wear a coat in his haste to leave.

Seeing the boss's actions, Jiang Meimei understood immediately and said with a grin, "I'll do it! I'll do it!"

He took out his keys from his pocket, ran to the door, and opened it deftly.

Chen Yan glared at Jiang Meimei, "You!"

Does she have a key?

Chen Yan felt she had been deceived.

"What do you mean, 'what do you mean, 'what do you mean'? Why are you looking at me like that? Do you want to hit me?" After this incident, Jiang Meimei completely let go, no longer afraid that this old hag was useless.

She's not the one who pays the wages.

With her own boss and husband around, how could that old hag possibly hit her?

Jiang Meimei realized that the boss's wife was still the one in charge of the household.

Who recruited me? Who pays me?

Follow the boss lady, you can't go wrong.

Jiang Meimei glared back at him.

"You!" Chen Yan was so angry that her mind went blank and she felt a little dizzy.

Chen Yan restrained herself in front of her son.

After the group entered the house, many curious heads peeked out from behind.

Jiang Meimei slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

Li Zhi looked at her with displeasure, but Jiang Meimei ignored him and looked around first. After spotting Sun Lifang's location, she ran ahead of Chen Yan.

They were watching her every move.

On the sofa, Sun Lifang closed her eyes as if she were resting.

"Why are you so sleepy at midday? Did you go thieving last night?" Chen Yan put on a good show in front of her son and tried to get closer, but Jiang Meimei suddenly blocked her way.

The room was filled with the aroma of food. Jiang Meimei had stewed black chicken soup, which was now bubbling and simmering with a rich fragrance.

Chen Yan didn't even bother to deal with Sun Lifang anymore; she'd settle the score with her later.

"Jiabao, bring me a bowl of soup to tide me over," Chen Yan called to her youngest son, then turned and sat down, picking up the bowl from the table.

A bowl of untouched rice, still warm.

"Jiabao, did you hear me?"

Chen Yan ate a few mouthfuls of rice by herself before realizing that her youngest son hadn't moved at all.

Zhou Jiabao no longer dared to look at his elder brother's face. His brows and eyes were frozen with frost, and his whole body exuded a chill. He felt that if looks could kill.

They are completely dead.

Chen Yan poured the rice into a plate. She was quite hungry, and she ate it with relish, mixing it with the vegetable soup.

She didn't mind; since her son wouldn't lift a finger, she simply took matters into her own hands and headed to the kitchen with the bowl in her hand.

As we walked, I asked in confusion, "Why are you all standing? Have you eaten outside?"

This time, Jiang Meimei couldn't hold back any longer and stood in front of Chen Yan.

That was something she used to nourish Sun Lifang's body; it contained a lot of medicinal herbs.

Chen Yan went left, Jiang Meimei went left, then right, Jiang Meimei followed her to the right, but they just wouldn't let her in.

"Are you full?" Chen Yan knew this wasn't the time to argue, so she greeted them with a smile. "When did you eat? Why aren't you eating? Aren't you hungry?"

"Why don't you go ask the old man who collects garbage why he doesn't eat meat? Is it because he doesn't want to?" Jiang Meimei rolled her eyes and said, "If you're hungry, just eat the meat. The soup in it won't do."

The black chicken soup wasn't simmered long enough; this was for the landlady's dinner.

Nourishing the body and taking care of the fetus is the best approach.

"Alright then." Chen Yan pretended not to understand the sarcasm in his words.

There was no argument, which was rare, since there was enough food on the table for her anyway.

Zhou Jiabao gritted his teeth, "Mom, have you finished eating?"

"Burp, almost done... How did you cook this so deliciously?" Chen Yan looked at Jiang Meimei, surprised that this nanny was such a good cook, a waste that she was dedicated to serving Sun Lifang.

No, she had to think of something.

How could Sun Lifang, this poor girl, be a good match for him?

After eating a few more bites, until she couldn't eat anymore, Chen Yan still called out to Zhou Jiabao, "Come and eat, they've all eaten, don't waste these dishes."

Jiang Meimei, who was standing to the side, hardened her fist.

All the food she painstakingly prepared was ruined.

It's better to feed it to the dog.

Jiang Meimei was very happy with her job. She didn't expect Sun Lifang to treat her so well, communicating with her on an equal footing and not looking down on her at all. She even took the time to teach her English.
