Nan Yi, a modern female bodyguard, fails a mission and travels back three hundred years to the Qing Dynasty. At that time, she became the side consort of the Fourth Prince of the Qing Dynasty, but ...
Lady Nian suffered a miscarriage, and Lady Li was frightened. Feeling guilty, she hid in the courtyard to rest and prepare for the baby's arrival. Yinzhen did not appear at Wanyue Pavilion for more than ten days.
The 43rd year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign was destined to be a turbulent time. The eldest prince, Honghui, fell ill without warning. His primary consort, worried about her son's health, took care of him despite her own illness.
The affairs of the household ultimately fell to Nan Yi. She had no idea how to handle household affairs, but fortunately, with Aunt Qiu and Lady Yi, as well as Consort Qi assisting her, nothing went wrong.
Nan Yi finally managed to steal a moment of leisure, but before she could even catch her breath, someone from the palace came to say that Consort De had summoned her to the palace for a talk.
During this period, Nan Yi rarely saw Yinzhen, and when they did meet, it was always brief. On the night before entering the palace, for the first time ever, Yinzhen entered Wanyue Pavilion.
As soon as she entered the room, the Fourth Uncle sat down next to her and said, "Do you have any pear soup? Give me a bowl."
Yiren nodded happily, and not only sweet soup, but also all kinds of snacks and desserts were placed on the table in front of the two of them. She and her little maid waited outside the door.
"The treatment is going well. Let Granny Qiu go to the Fujin Courtyard to help out. Let her come back when Honghui is better."
"Whatever you decide, Master."
Nan Yi has recovered well; her skin is fair with a rosy glow and is very delicate. Yinzhen secretly thought it was thanks to Granny Qiu. He raised his hand and pinched Nan Yi's snow-white face, leaving a mark immediately.
He then stroked her affectionately, reached out and wrapped his arm around Nan Yi's waist, and asked, "Are you ready to enter the palace?"
Nan Yi was unusually well-behaved this time, not arguing with him, and even feeding the Fourth Master. It was quite pitiful; the family was filled with sick and listless people, and the backyard was shrouded in gloom. It was truly heartbreaking to add to his distress.
"Everything is ready. I specially asked Granny Zhao to make a lot of snacks. I wonder if it will be taboo."
Consort De was Emperor Kangxi's favorite concubine. She had seen all kinds of good things, so she wanted the kitchen to make some snacks to bring into the palace as a token of her affection.
Food is something that can easily be used against you; those in the palace are extremely cautious about what goes into their mouths.
Yinzhen chuckled, "You're overthinking it. Give the things to Xiaoshunzi. If there's any left, send it to the front yard for the eldest prince to try."
Nan nodded. "Okay, I'll give it to Yiren later. She'll keep it."
It was rare to see her so obedient and compliant. Yinzhen's eyes softened, and moved by his emotions, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her.
"If only it could always be like this," he murmured, bending down.
Nan Yi lightly pecked back, and said with a smile, "Aren't there enough obedient and docile people in the manor? You feel good just by bowing your head and trying to please them."
She spread her hands, lay back in his arms, and smiled so alluringly that it captivated him. Her eyes sparkled like shimmering autumn water.
"Oh dear, what should I do? I can't play the wooden doll." The problem is, she's not from ancient times. A lady from a respectable family would be dignified and quiet, and if she tries to imitate her, she'll only end up looking ridiculous.
The Fourth Master might not like it.
Yinzhen lingered on her lips, their breaths mingling, then he pulled her into his arms to calm the heat within him. As if mindful of something, he didn't continue.
After a while, he picked her up and smoothed her hair. "Once you're in the palace... there are some things you have to bear with. If you suffer any injustice, just come back and tell me. Don't rush forward recklessly; you'll only suffer the consequences."
My mother-in-law has lived in the deep palace for a long time and is one of the four imperial concubines. She cannot tolerate a disobedient daughter-in-law.
Nan was taken aback. From this, she realized she wanted to go to the palace alone. "Isn't Your Highness coming with me?"
Yinzhen nodded, "The timing is different. I'm also worried about things in the manor. Be careful."
Nan Yi leaned over him, fiddling with the buttons on his shirt, puffing out her cheeks as if she were dissatisfied, "I feel like you came here specifically because you were afraid I'd cause trouble, but it turns out you didn't miss me after all."
Her unexpected display of affection startled Yinzhen, who immediately picked her up and carried her into the inner room.
When they got to bed, Nan Yi had a little bit of anticipation, but the other person just held her tightly while she slept, even though his breathing was all over the place, he still tried to hold it in.
Perhaps her charm has faded.
Nan Yi wanted to try, but Yinzhen held her down and kissed her hard. Afterwards, he said breathlessly, "No, this is not a good time if you have a child."
Oh dear, how could she forget about that? Yet she couldn't understand why she hadn't gotten pregnant before, even though the two of them had always been very compatible in that area.
She pinched the man. "Hey, tell me, why can't I get pregnant? I've always been healthy. If I wanted a child, I should have gotten pregnant a long time ago."
Yinzhen was taken aback by her directness and paused for a moment, his ears strangely burning. After thinking for a while, he replied earnestly, "Perhaps the time is not right yet. Just focus on taking care of your health, and you will have a child."
"Really?" Nan Yizhi was skeptical. She wasn't against having children; having a baby was fine too.
She thought of something and asked, "Do you think it could be...?"
Yinzhen interrupted her, "No, you're fine. If I say you're pregnant, then you are." He spoke quickly and urgently, which made it seem as if he was trying to cover something up.
After the last poisoning incident, the imperial physician said that her health had been severely damaged and she needed long-term recuperation. He understood this in his heart, which is why he never mentioned having children in front of her.
His other wives and concubines in the backyard became pregnant one after another. He tolerated Li, Nian, and Wen in every way, which was not without a bit of guilt in his heart.
"You know what I'm going to say?" Nan Yi poked his chest.
Yinzhen held her tightly, "I know, stop gossiping, we have to get up early tomorrow, go to sleep."
"Oh." Nan Yi turned to her side in his arms and took off her nightgown.
Yinzhen's breathing became noticeably heavier, his eyes fixed on her slender waist, but his hand pressed down on her movements, almost gritting his teeth, "What are you doing? Can't you just stay still?"
Nan frowned. "Didn't you say you wanted to sleep?" This person is so strange. He changes his mind like flipping through a book. What does he want?
