Chapter 72 (072) - Two-in-One [VIP]
A metallic sweetness spread from his throat to his mouth, the smell of blood gradually filling the space. However, Yue Ling couldn't smell it. He clutched his shirt tightly, his heart aching so badly that he had to curl up in pain. He felt utterly powerless and finally rolled off the chair in a ball.
it hurts.
It really hurts.
It felt as if a knife had been plunged into his heart, piercing through from one side to the other, and then the person holding the knife was mercilessly twisting and turning it, as if trying to shred his heart into pieces.
He hadn't been this disheveled in a long time. Ever since he found the divine herb, broke the seal within his body, and obtained supreme power, he had never been this disheveled. However, he didn't know why he was in such a disheveled state, nor why his heart ached so much.
All he knew was that the moment he closed his eyes and Yin Chu Jiu kissed his forehead, a mysterious emotion surged within him, churning and churning within him. It began faintly, then grew stronger, reaching its peak the moment Yin Chu Jiu turned her back to him and left the room without looking back.
The emotion grew stronger and stronger, eventually transforming into a sharp, piercing pain that made him unable to sit still. The pain compelled him to speak and beg Yin Chu Jiu to return, but the moment he opened his mouth, no words came out; instead, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Cold sweat dripped from his forehead. Yue Ling curled up and clutched his heart tightly. He gritted his teeth and didn't groan. He tried to stand up, but as soon as he stood up, his knees buckled and he immediately fell back down.
His knee slammed against the wooden board with a dull thud that faintly echoed outwards.
His throat moved again, and he spat out another mouthful of blood.
The commotion inside caught the attention of the three eavesdroppers outside. At first, they didn't think that Yue Ling was the one with the problem. They just felt that what Yin Chu Jiu said was a bit strange. What "goodbye" meant. Maybe the master was angry, or maybe it had triggered his emotional state again.
But after a while, they smelled a faint smell of blood. The smell had dissipated and was not as strong when it reached outside, so the three of them rushed inside.
As soon as they rushed in, they saw Yue Ling curled up on the ground, looking very uncomfortable. The floor around him was covered in blood he had vomited, and he was still vomiting blood when they rushed in.
However, instead of vomiting violently, he vomited mouthful after mouthful from his throat, and blood stained his fair cheeks, making him look extremely horrifying.
"My lord!" Mo Ling and the other two were shocked.
Yue Ling was no longer able to react. He opened his mouth and breathed silently, his body curled up in a ball, but his eyes were fixed on the direction of the door. Actually, he could hardly see anymore; everything was blurry. But... but for some reason, he wanted to see Yin Chu Jiu, he wanted to see him come back.
Yue Ling's severe injuries shocked Mo Ling and the other two. Even the divine physician Zi Zhuo couldn't find anything wrong with the examination, except that the energy in Yue Ling's body was restless and his emotions were turbulent.
"Zizhuo, what did you find out? Hurry up!"
Zi Zhuo was in a complete mess, and Mo Ling was still asking questions regardless of the situation, which made him so angry that he turned around and yelled, "Shut up!"
After saying that, he took Yue Ling's wrist to check his pulse. Yue Ling had already fainted, but even in his unconscious state, his hand was tightly clutching his chest, and his brows were furrowed. Zi Zhuo's fingers trembled slightly as he took Yue Ling's pulse. Just then, he saw Yue Ling's pale lips move, as if he were saying something.
He leaned closer to listen, but heard nothing else except three words.
—Yin Chu Jiu.
Sure enough, it's related to Yin Chu Jiu.
Zi Zhuo released Yue Ling's wrist and said through gritted teeth, "My lord, this should not be a physical illness, but a mental one, so I can't tell. However, I can tell you that my guess before is 99% likely to be correct."
The Lord is incomplete.
The source of his emotions was Yin Chu Jiu.
He also had feelings for Yin Chu Jiu.
Zi Zhuo and the black cat also remembered Zi Zhuo's previous guess, but what good was it if the guess was right? Now that their lord was in this state, it was useless for him to be unable to think of a cure.
Seemingly knowing what Mo Ling was thinking, Zi Zhuo didn't even have the energy to roll his eyes. He directly instructed Mo Ling, "Put the master on the bed. I'll go and prepare two doses of blood-tonifying soup for the master. He has lost too much blood. If we don't want him to lose his foundation, we need to replenish his blood and qi as soon as possible."
Mo Ling didn't hesitate either. As soon as Zi Zhuo finished speaking, he picked Yue Ling up and carried her to the bed next to him.
Then, Zi Zhuo instructed Black Cat, "Black Cat, go and call over those array masters in the camp. They are familiar with arrays and can probably guess what's going on with the master. See if you can set up an array to help the master recover!"
The black cat nodded, "Meow! I'm going right now!"
The camp was bustling with activity, with people coming and going and fires blazing overhead. Yin Chu Jiu returned to his room and sat there lost in thought for a long time before he noticed the 'liveliness' of the camp. He opened the window and looked at the people coming and going outside, each with a serious expression on their face.
What's wrong? Did something happen?
Yin Chu Jiu thought that he wanted to go out and ask someone, but when he thought about his current identity and Yue Ling, he lost interest. He probably had to deal with the Scorpion Palace.
He overheard a guard talking about the Scorpion Palace this afternoon. All the elders of the Scorpion Palace had disappeared, and tonight's busyness was probably about discussing how to deal with those elders.
Those elders were all experts at the seventh level of the Heavenly Bead realm. Although Mo Ling, Zi Zhuo, and the black cat had regained their memories and strength, there were only three of them. If he remembered correctly, the Scorpion Palace had a total of nine elders, and their names were the same as the names he had chosen before, from one to nine, such as Chen Yi, Hong Er, Yuan San... Qiu Jiu, with Qiu Jiu being the last one.
Even the most skilled fighter would be overwhelmed if three people were fighting nine, so it's understandable that the camp was busy making preparations.
After closing the window, Yin Chu Jiu returned to the house, completely misunderstanding the reason for the camp's busy activity. Meanwhile, all five array masters from Mo Ling Palace were summoned. The five stood respectfully before them, and Mo Ling anxiously explained Yue Ling's condition.
"Look at this, what exactly is going on?"
The array masters looked at each other in bewilderment. They had never encountered such a situation before, and Mo Ling's expression was so grim that they were all frightened and their minds were not as sharp as usual.
Just then, Zi Zhuo came out.
"Don't panic. I have a guess. Listen to it and see if you can come up with anything. If you can, just say it. Don't hide anything."
The five array masters' expressions improved somewhat. Then, Zi Zhuo shared his guess, and their expressions became just as grave as Zi Zhuo's.
and.
evening.
group.
right.
Zi Zhuo and Mo Ling were anxious, but they tried their best to suppress their anxiety and did not urge them.
After a long while, the five array masters still hadn't given a result. They were sweating profusely and were equally panicked, not knowing what to do. Suddenly, the black cat ran out from the inner room, her expression filled with terror.
"Mo Ling, Zi Zhuo, the Lord has coughed up blood again!"
Zi Zhuo and Mo Ling were shocked. The five array masters realized that the situation could not be delayed any longer, so one of them stepped forward and said recklessly, "We have a guess, but we cannot be sure if it is true, nor can we guarantee that we can cure him."
Desperate measures, Zi Zhuo and Mo Ling no longer cared about what was real and what was fake. Yue Ling himself didn't know his condition, and even Zi Zhuo, as a divine doctor, couldn't do anything about it. Now, any solution was a solution.
"It's okay, go ahead and speak."
The master said, "We think the same thing as you. We think he had a problem when he was recovering his memories, but we don't know what the main problem is. So if we want to cure him, we can only set up another formation. The formation will be the same as the one we set up before. Two formations will allow him to recover his memories again."
Zi Zhuo narrowed his eyes slightly, "What do you mean?"
"Before his memories were restored, Yue Ling was normal in every way except for the lack of his memories. So this time, although it is said that his memories have been restored, human memories are always related to other aspects. If we let him restore them again, perhaps we can make up for what he was missing before."
Mo Ling asked anxiously, "What kind of trouble will this cause in the future?"
The array master shook his head. "This should be the least troublesome method we can think of. Even if it fails, it won't affect him now. If it succeeds, he should return to the normal state you think he is."
Mo Ling turned to look at Zi Zhuo and asked, "What do you think?" Yue Ling was a doctor, and he trusted his judgment.
Zi Zhuo thought for a moment, then gritted her teeth and said, "Let's do it this way!"
What followed was chaos and confusion.
Zi Zhuo and the black cat stayed by Yue Ling's side. Yue Ling coughed up mouthful after mouthful of blood. Before, each mouthful of blood he coughed up was a lot, but now, although he coughed up less blood, it was still continuous, with strands of blood overflowing from the corners of his mouth. What worried them even more was that Yue Ling did not open his eyes from beginning to end.
His face was already pale, but now, with the blood standing out against it, it looked even paler, so pale it was almost shocking.
Mo Ling came in, glanced at Yue Ling, and then asked the array masters to set up the array. Fortunately, the masters had already set up the array, so setting it up again was not troublesome.
Two quarters of an hour later, the formation was set up. Under Mo Ling's increasingly reddened gaze, Zi Zhuo directed the masters to carefully move Yue Ling into the formation. The formation masters, being sensible, quickly put Yue Ling inside.
Once inside, the next step is to activate the formation.
Zi Zhuo and the other two exchanged glances, took a deep breath, and then instructed the masters to activate the formation. The three of them then stood guard at the edge of the formation, and the actors took their positions. And so it began.
Everyone inside the room remained on high alert, but things didn't go as they expected. Yue Ling inside the formation didn't wake up; he remained curled up. This rendered the actors outside the formation useless.
Zi Zhuo: "This situation should be normal. After all, the master has regained his memories, so it is normal that he does not need this."
Mo Ling could only trust Zi Zhuo now, so he waved his hand and dismissed his subordinates.
In fact, Zi Zhuo's guess was correct, because although those people were not used, Yue Ling in the formation did not show anything wrong. His expression was exactly the same as when he first used the formation. Obviously, even without the stimulation of outsiders, he was still slowly recovering. Mo Ling slowly exhaled the breath he had been holding.
The following time was agonizing, but strangely, they didn't know how much time had passed; they only knew Yue Ling's every move during this time. Inside the formation, Yue Ling's state was initially exactly the same as when he was outside. Later, his expression gradually calmed down, and his emotions stabilized. Then, he frowned, as if he was experiencing something he disliked. Zi Zhuo and the others guessed that he was recovering his memories. After that, his expression returned to calm, and this time they couldn't guess what he was doing.
Zi Zhuo could only say, "I think the master must have realized that it was an illusion. Now that he has regained all his memories, he should also remember everything we did to help him regain his memories using the formation. This formation was effective the first time, but it probably won't be as effective the second time."
The array masters were speechless, like black cats, while Mo Ling believed Zi Zhuo's words. Zi Zhuo was a divine physician; although his reputation on the continent wasn't great, his abilities were undeniable.
After that, Yue Ling's expression remained calm. When the energy of the first formation was exhausted, they moved Yue Ling to the second formation, where he also remained calm.
Zi Zhuo took Yue Ling's pulse midway through the process and found that Yue Ling's condition had improved and was much better than before.
The most obvious change is that the inexplicable emotions within him have calmed down, as if they have been carefully combed through and their source and outlet found, allowing its owner to control them normally.
Once his emotions calmed down, the energy within him naturally calmed down as well.
It is visibly clear that Yue Ling is recovering and getting better.
Seeing this, Zi Zhuo and the other two finally breathed a sigh of relief, as did the array masters beside them. They didn't know why Lord Mo Ling would call that child their master, but that wasn't something they needed to know.
If Yue Ling is alright, it means they will be alright too.
Even so, they did not relax and kept a close eye on Yue Ling's situation. Only when the energy of the second formation was exhausted did they move Yue Ling out. It was then that they noticed that it was already dawn.
Unbeknownst to anyone, a tear slowly rolled down Yue Ling's cheek as she slept.
Mo Ling told the masters who had stayed up all night with them to go back and rest. The three of them would continue to watch over Yue Ling and would not go back until Yue Ling woke up and they personally confirmed that he was alright.
To put it bluntly, although they are relieved, they are not truly at ease until they are certain that Yue Ling is completely healed.
However, my eyes started to get a little sore after keeping them open for a while.
Zi Zhuo: "Shall the three of us take turns sleeping for a while?"
Actually, the three of them could easily stay up for several days and nights, but that's only in terms of physical strength; their mental energy wasn't quite up to par. Especially since they had been on edge the whole time, this sudden relaxation made them feel drowsy.
Black cat: "Meow~ I think this suggestion is good."
Mo Ling: "Then you two go to sleep first, and I'll wake you up when you're awake."
Zizhuo & Black Cat: "Then you'll have to work a little harder."
Then, the two of them fell asleep quickly and soon began to snore softly.
Mo Ling stayed by Yue Ling's side alone. He thought he could hold on, but as he watched over him, he couldn't help but doze off. His head kept nodding, and he was woken up again and again. Later, he opened his eyes, which were already a little blurry, and looked at Yue Ling's condition. He thought that Yue Ling might not wake up so soon, so he also wanted to doze off for a while.
He would just take a short nap to ease his sleepiness a little, and then he wouldn't go back to sleep.
Mo Ling told himself this, but he overlooked the powerful influence of the Duke of Zhou (the Duke of Zhou in the classic texts). When he vaguely realized that he had slept for a while, he suddenly opened his eyes and found that there was no one in the bed.
Yue Ling has disappeared!
He hurriedly woke up Zi Zhuo and the black cat. The two woke up, realized what had happened, and showed a panicked expression just like Mo Ling.
How could their lord have disappeared!
Yue Ling had a dream in which he became a five or six-year-old child. He then met another child of the same age who was very kind to him. At first, he disliked the child and loathed him, but later, he began to pay attention to the child.
That child was a bit simple-minded, really simple-minded. He would give him anything he found—food, clothes, and even wash his clothes, clean his room, and take him hunting.
But that child was stronger than him. He could cultivate, but he himself could not. Not only could he not cultivate, but he was also covered in black hair and was called a monster.
He wasn't a monster, he always protested in his heart, but everyone else called him a monster, except for that child.
The child said he wanted to be kind to him, that he didn't mean it, and that he wanted to make it up to him. At the time, he scoffed at it, but later, after many years, the child became a teenager, and he grew up too. He gradually understood that what the teenager said was true, that he was really making it up to him, and that he was really kind to him.
For his sake, he wasn't afraid to back down even when he was injured by others; instead, they cared about his injuries. Yue Ling thought, since he's so good to him, he'll continue to be good to him.
Then, his attitude towards the boy gradually changed. Actually, it might not have been simply because of that incident that he started to change, but rather that over the years, he had already been moved by the boy's behavior, but he was unaware of it, or deliberately chose not to be aware of it; that incident was just a trigger.
Later, he fell in love with the boy and began to pursue him. The boy initially rejected him, but through his persistent efforts, he eventually won him over.
He liked him very much, very much. Even though he knew the boy was only being nice to him as compensation, just to be kind to him, he still liked him very much.
He thought he wouldn't care what the boy did to him, nor that it wasn't intentional; he just wanted to stay with him forever.
Later, they lived happily for a while, but during that time, a group of rude people came to cause trouble and tried to separate them. However, even though those people were not clever and were very annoying, his relationship with the boy grew stronger with each setback. He even hugged him, and they became truly intimate.
Finally, they got together. But one day, the boy took him to a room, saying it was for his health. He entered a magic array, and inside it, he saw a woman he disliked. That woman lied to him, saying she liked him. He didn't like that woman at all; he only liked the boy. Later, he really did see the boy. But in the end, the boy pushed him off the array. He was very unhappy and heartbroken.
At that moment, for some unknown reason, another energy suddenly surged in. He couldn't care less about being sad; he just felt extremely uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that he couldn't help but roll around on the ground.
He didn't know how much time had passed. When he regained some consciousness, he was held in the boy's arms. He then realized that the formation was a memory-restoring formation. What he had seen were all his memories, but they had been destroyed, causing him great harm. He wanted to comfort the boy and tell him not to cry, but he couldn't utter a single word.
After an unknown amount of time, he was placed into another formation. In that formation, he saw many memories, memories he had never seen before, yet which felt incredibly familiar. As those memories flooded into his mind, he suddenly understood what was happening.
He is Yue Ling, yet he is not Yue Ling. The world he spent so many years in was merely an illusion, and he was the one who created that illusion. And the boy he loved was not just his boy; he had another identity.
He created this illusionary world to take revenge on everyone he once hated, just so that he could experience it all himself. But he forgot that he eventually fell in love with him.
The people he likes are the people he hates.
But so what?
That's the person he likes. He's been so good to him, he's always protected him, and he's always apologizing to him, saying he didn't mean it.
He likes him.
He thought that once he was out, he would pretend to be angry and make him apologize. It would be best if he could do something to make him happy, such as giving him a kiss or letting him hug him. That was his idea.
He desperately wanted to hug him, kiss him, and merge with him. He wanted to get out of the formation as quickly as possible and tell him that he wasn't angry anymore, so he didn't need to apologize or feel sorry for him.
He also wanted to ask him if he agreed to be with him because he liked him, or because he felt sorry for him.
But it doesn't matter, no matter what, he's his, and that will never change.
He also wanted to tell him that even if the illusion disappeared, he would find a way to prolong its duration, and keep prolonging it.
He should stop thinking about leaving him, stop thinking he'll care about other people, because: family is you, friendship is you, and love is you.
Throughout his life, he was the only one who played all of these roles.
But……
When he opened his eyes, everything was different, completely different from what he had imagined. He still retained the memories from the illusion, but those emotions were gone. He couldn't sense his affection or tenderness; he only had the emotions he had before entering the illusion.
—He hates him.
Looking at those memories, he felt like an outsider reading a storybook, knowing everything that had happened, but no longer possessing those delicate emotions.
In his dream, Yue Ling saw how he tormented the person he cherished most, and then coldly told him that they were even. He didn't want to be even, he didn't want his goodbye, he didn't want him to leave!
Then, he woke up.
I realized that it wasn't a dream, and I realized what I had done.
I have committed an unforgivable crime against him.
That was not physical harm to him, but mental torture.
I forgot about him.
— Yue Ling.

A new novel started next door, a romance/quick transmigration story. The tone is supposed to be a bit silly and cheerful. This story gets a little heavy later on, so I'm starting a romance to change things up. The next BL novel is: Offering Yourself Up Here.
