Su Wan is the true daughter of the Su family. After drifting outside for eighteen years, she was finally brought back to the Su family. She originally thought she would be doted on, but unexpectedl...
When Su Wan looked at Lu Xing again, the initial excitement was gone. That's how she was with relationships; when she loved, she gave it her all.
When letting go, never drag things out.
She politely handed Lu Xing a glass of water: "Have some water."
He is the guest now, and she is the host; basic hospitality is still necessary.
Qin Yi remained calm and stepped forward to greet Lu Xing.
"Lu Xing, thank you for coming to see your sister-in-law."
Lu Xing gripped the hem of his clothes tightly with his hand at his side; after all, he was a young man and couldn't keep things to himself.
His face was filled with disappointment.
Su Wan smiled and changed the subject: "Lu, school will be starting soon, right?"
When Su Wan mentioned the start of school, Lu Xing's heart skipped a beat. He had so many opportunities to confess his feelings to Su Wan when they were at school.
But he didn't.
Lu Xing's words were full of disappointment. He wanted to see Su Wan again when school started, but it would be improper to change his name. Thinking of this, he stammered, "School starts tomorrow."
Su Wan was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and said, "So fast."
During this time, Su Wan had been recuperating in the hospital and hadn't thought about school at all. Moreover, Han Hongmei had told her that she would handle things at school.
Lu Xing looked up at Su Wan, his eyes filled with concern: "How is your recovery going?"
Su Wan responded generously, "Okay."
Qin Yi, standing to the side, looked at Su Wan with a lingering gaze: "Wanwan, go to the room and look for my medicine. I couldn't find it earlier."
Lu Xing felt a lump in his throat as he read this.
Facing Lu Xing, Su Wan didn't intend to say anything. She greeted him with a smile, "You guys chat first, I'll go look for it."
Only Qin Yi and Lu Xing remained in the living room. Qin Yi tossed a cigarette to Lu Xing, who hurriedly caught it.
Qin Yi lit his cigarette with a snap and exhaled a smoke ring: "Shall we go outside and talk?"
Lu Xing silently pushed Qin Yi out the door. Neither of them spoke again until they reached a secluded part of the courtyard, where Lu Xing finally stopped.
Qin Yi lit another cigarette, took a deep drag, and casually asked, "Did you like Su Wan before?"
Lu Xing awkwardly held the cigarette, and just as he lit it, he choked and coughed violently upon hearing Qin Yi's words.
Qin Yi narrowed his eyes and looked at him quietly.
Lu Xing didn't stop coughing until his eyes were red. He looked into Qin Yi's eyes and said without any pretense, "Back in school, I liked her, and she wasn't indifferent to me either."
These words were blunt and a clear provocation to Qin Yi.
Qin Yi merely glanced at Lu Xing indifferently, and scoffed lightly, "So what?"
Lu Xing opened his mouth, wanting to say that he wanted to win Su Wan back, but he looked at Qin Yi and didn't say it.
Qin Yi looked at Lu Xing with disdain: "So you just like her, but don't even have the guts to break the ice?"
As the saying goes, "Strike the snake at its vital point," and Qin Yi knew Lu Xing's weaknesses.
Lu Xing turned his head away and didn't speak.
Qin Yi looked into the distance: "I like her but I don't dare to confess. How can I make her happy if I'm such a coward?"
Lu Xing suddenly turned his head, looking at Qin Yi with sharp eyes. "What do you know? Just because you like her doesn't mean you're sure she likes you back."
Qin Yi casually flicked his cigarette ash: "I don't care about liking or loving her. I only know that she is my wife, and I will do my best to treat her well and be her support."
The mere mention of the word "wife" was enough to devastate Lu Xing; he clenched his fists, his eyes bloodshot.
Su Wan could have been his girlfriend, and they would have gotten married later, instead of rushing into marrying Qin Yi.
Qin Yi added insult to injury: "Su Wan doesn't like you. She likes men who don't drag things out."
Seeing Lu Xing's unwilling expression, Qin Yi kindly advised him, "If I were you, I would stay away from her. If Wanwan suffers even the slightest bit of gossip because of you, I will not let you off the hook."
Lu Xing was taken aback and bit his lip tightly. He had thought about telling Su Wan that if Qin Yi treated Su Wan badly, he would find a way to take her away.
Qin Yi saw right through him. He remained silent, knowing full well how important a woman's reputation was in this era.
His actions will indeed subject Su Wan to criticism.
When Qin Yi returned home, Su Wan had already made the bed. She came up to him and helped him get hot water to wash up.
Su Wan looked at Qin Yi: "What did you say to Lu Xing?"
Qin Yi remained unmoved and warned him not to have any improper ideas.
Su Wan raised an eyebrow: "Do you not believe him or me?"
Qin Yi: "Him."
Su Wan wiped Qin Yi's face as a reward, then naturally sat down to massage his legs.
With a slightly worried tone, she asked, "Is that miracle doctor you found reliable?"
Seeing that Su Wan was not bothered by Lu Xing's matter at all, Qin Yi felt smug.
Su Wan was actually quite worried. Qin Yi had been in a wheelchair for over a year, and he had long since lost all feeling in his legs. If it weren't for Grandma Qin taking such good care of him, she didn't know what would have become of him!
Although Qin Yi didn't say it, she knew he was hoping she would get better.
If the doctor he had placed so much hope in couldn't help him stand up, or even had any effect at all.
That was a devastating blow to him. What will happen to him?
Can he withstand this blow and recover?
Seeing Su Wan's worried expression, Qin Yi felt a tender feeling well up inside him.
He gently took her hand, pulled her onto his lap, and rested his head against Su Wan.
She gently comforted him, saying, "Since things are already like this, why not give it a try? It can't get any worse than this."
In the past, Su Wan would have been very happy to hear such words, feeling that Qin Yi was willing to try and no longer closed himself off.
