In her past life, Ji Xiaoxiao was a part-time assassin and a full-time shut-in. One day, with god-like skill, she was run over by a car and inexplicably transmigrated. After transmigrating, everyth...
At eleven o'clock, Hu Song sighed heavily, put down his pen, and said, "Let's go home."
Ji Xiaoxiao picked up her schoolbag and happily followed behind Hu Song.
The moon hung high in the sky, its silvery light bathing the earth. One by one, the vendors near the school packed up, the bustling atmosphere dissipating, creating a scene both eerily quiet and unsettling.
Ji Xiaoxiao and Hu Song walked side by side, their steps perfectly synchronized.
"Hu Song, do you want to stay at my house tonight?" Ji Xiaoxiao's words were sure to shock.
"Cough cough cough..." Hu Song paused for a moment, then said, "Xiao Lan, what did you say?"
"Sleep at my place tonight."
It wasn't a tone of discussion, but a direct order to Hu Song.
Hu Song reluctantly agreed and entered the Yang family's gate that very night.
Click, the door opened.
Hu Song walked in and saw Mr. and Mrs. Yang sitting in the living room, surrounded by a low-pressure atmosphere.
"Hello, Uncle and Aunt," Hu Song said respectfully.
Mr. Yang said in a deep voice, "Xiao Lan just called and told me that you're going to rest here today." The sentence was a declarative sentence, but Mr. Yang spoke with a tone that seemed to hold a great deal of doubt.
Hu Songdao said, "If it would be too much trouble for you, Uncle, I can..."
Mr. Yang walked over with a stern face and placed his large, warm hand on Hu Shao's head.
"Don't talk nonsense. As long as you're not sharing a room with Xiaolan, you can stay here as long as you want," said Mr. and Mrs. Yang. "Xiaowei, is there any food left at home? I see that the child is moving slowly and is very thin. He probably hasn't had dinner yet."
Yang's mother sighed and turned to walk into the kitchen.
Ten minutes later, the simple meal was served.
Hu Song ate his meal feeling uneasy, with three people staring at him.
The bathroom doorway.
“We don’t have any clothes for a boy your age at home. Wear your uncle’s clothes for now. They’re a bit big, but you can wear them as pajamas for today. Auntie will buy you new clothes tomorrow.” Yang’s mother placed a slightly oversized new dress in Hu Song’s hands.
Hu Song's mind was in a daze, and he was somewhat confused. "Buy me new clothes tomorrow. Am I going to be staying here permanently from now on?"
No one answered his question; bathing a boy was not something Yang's mother could help with.
After taking a shower in a daze and drying his hair with a hairdryer, Hu Song lay on the bed, wide awake.
The next day, Hu Song got up full of energy.
"Come and have breakfast." Mother Yang's face was incredibly vivid in the sunlight.
After eating and drinking their fill, Hu Song and Ji Xiaoxiao went out together.
"Xiao Lan, why did your aunt and uncle agree to this, hmm?" Hu Song pondered his words. Take me in? I'm not homeless. Adopt me? Those two are still alive.
Ji Xiaoxiao noticed Hu Song's hesitation and explained, "You want to ask me why my parents are willing to accept you, right?"
accept!
"That's it," Hu Song nodded hurriedly.
Ji Xiaoxiao said mysteriously, "I explained the pros and cons to my parents."
"Interests and interests?"
Ji Xiaoxiao said, "As the saying goes, you reap what you sow. People are good to you, so you are good to them. My parents are good to you because they hope that one day you will be good to their daughter."
Hu Song had no idea how much determination Ji Xiaoxiao had to put into saying that simple, seemingly ordinary sentence.
"Thank you, Xiaolan."
Hu Song thought to himself, "I will be good to you for the rest of my life."
Both students achieved excellent results in this midterm exam, ranking among the top in the entire school.
Hu Song was insatiable and not satisfied with his grades, so he buried himself in his studies with all his might. Ji Xiaoxiao did not disturb him, but only came to call him when it was time to go home.
"Hu Song, it's time to go home."
Hu Songzhen moved into the Yang family's house. Hu Shiquan's parents didn't interfere. Only occasionally on weekends would Hu Shiquan drive to pick Hu Song up for dinner and drop him off around 10 p.m.
The days passed quietly, and the college entrance examination arrived silently.
That day, Mr. and Mrs. Yang stopped what they were doing and personally escorted him to the examination venue.
"Don't be nervous, just perform normally," Mr. Yang said mechanically.
Ji Xiaoxiao glanced sideways at Yang's father, who was covered in sweat. "I'm not nervous, you're the one who's making me nervous."
"Dad, I understand," Ji Xiaoxiao said gently.
Hu Songdao said, "Uncle, I will try my best."
Watching the two enter the examination hall, Yang's parents were filled with anxiety, fearing that their children might fall or get hurt, causing them to fail the exam. But Ji Xiaoxiao and Hu Song did not disappoint them; they gave their all in every exam.
Ten days later, the college entrance examination results were released, and Hu Songyi, with a score of 710, became the top scorer in the province. Ji Xiaoxiao was slightly worse than Hu Songyi, with a score of only 699.
On the evening the results were released, Hu Shiquan received Hu Song with a big smile on his face.
The Hu family.
Hu Shiquan loosened his tie, tilted his head back, and slightly spread his legs.
"Hurry up and come here."
Hu Song walked over and casually picked up the ashtray from the coffee table.
---Aside---
