Chapter 221 Fighting Alone

"Chiyo's grandson, a former genius of Sunagakure, is actually the one who assassinated the Third Kazekage!"

"A sinner! This is the great sinner who caused the endless war in the village!"

"What a beast! He assassinated the Third Kazekage back then, and now he's even leading an attack on the village! Elder Chiyo's family has produced such a beast!"

......

Chiyo and Sasori's conversation revealed a great deal of information, causing the Sand Shinobi stationed on the perimeter to murmur amongst themselves. Many of them were victims of the Third Shinobi World War, with relatives injured or maimed in the conflict. They had initially believed Konoha had betrayed the Kazekage, never imagining the culprit would be their own village's young genius!

"You wicked bastard, die!"

The sheer volume of information received at once caused some Sand Ninja to lose their composure, even turning their crossbows around to shoot Sasori.

Ding ding ding!

Although these crossbow bolts were fast and powerful, they were completely useless against the iron sand wall controlled by the human puppet and the hard body of the puppet Hiruko. They were all blocked, only producing a series of metallic clanging sounds.

On the contrary, their impulsive attack created a gap in the formation besieging Deidara.

"Everyone, don't panic! Attack this one-armed, blond guy first, and leave the others to Elder Chiyo and the others!"

Maki and his elite Jonin, with their strong mental fortitude, quickly recovered and directed the crossbow squad to launch another attack on Deidara.

The Fourth Kazekage was also ambushed and assassinated near the village, wasn't he? It's normal for ninjas, a high-risk profession, to face anything. Even if someone said the moon would crack open, they wouldn't panic. In any case, eliminating the enemy and defending the village is the top priority right now.

Although the Sand Ninja readjusted their offensive under the command of the Jonin and formed an encirclement, it was too late when they realized what was happening. Taking advantage of an opening in the attack, Deidara launched several clay birds, blasting a gap in the pursuing sand, and then maneuvered the clay birds to fly hundreds of meters into the air.

At this position, all the crossbow bolts and hidden weapons became ineffective, and Deidara only had to face Gaara, who was flying up in a sand pod in pursuit.

"What? So it's a grandmother and grandson relationship. I was really shocked just now. Tsk tsk tsk. The grandson assassinated the Third Kazekage, and the grandmother can still be an elder? The Sand Village is such a mess."

Having escaped the predicament, Deidara calmly gazed at Gaara from afar. He had heard the shouts of the Sand Ninja during the battle and realized he had been wrong.

"You should worry about yourself first. I won't let you get away with this crime of invading Sunagakure today."

Gaara, riding on sand clouds and creating waves of sand, rushed towards Deidara. This guy's ninjutsu is too dangerous; we absolutely cannot let him enter the airspace above the village's territory.

"Hmph, without the advantage of numbers and the terrain of the passageway, do you think you can still stop me? You're the one who'll have a hard time next!"

Ignoring his injuries and tattered clothes, Deidara smiled confidently and reached into his clay storage bag, ready to unleash his skills. Then, Deidara's expression froze; he realized he hadn't brought enough clay this time, and he should have listened to Sasori.

After the previous round of attacks, he only had about a quarter of the clay left on his body, and the task of retrieving the tailed beast had not yet officially begun.

Looking at the surging sand that was blocking his flight path, Deidara couldn't help but smile bitterly. This Kazekage wasn't as weak as he had imagined, and the Sand Village's vigilance had completely exceeded his expectations. It seemed he had overplayed his hand today.

With a cold glint in his eyes, Deidara flung out a two-winged bird that quickly approached Gaara, while simultaneously maneuvering the clay bird to evade the sand's pursuit with serpentine movements.

Since our reserves are insufficient, let's make this a quick and decisive battle!

The two-winged bird moved with incredible speed, dodging waves of sand before rushing to Gaara's side, only to be blocked by a sand wall that suddenly appeared.

Gaara's gaze was fixed on Deidara, manipulating sand to surround and intercept him, while he himself simultaneously lunged forward. This enemy was incredibly fast; ordinary sand couldn't catch him, only temporarily obstructing his flight path. The final showdown would ultimately depend on the sand within the gourd.

Above the sky, Gaara and Deidara were locked in fierce combat, while inside the passage, Elder Chiyo and Sasori were engaged in a lively and animated conversation.

"Wrong? I only killed a piece of trash who was incapable of protecting Sunagakure. Wouldn't it have been better to kill him and let the village get a new Kazekage? Turning him into a puppet and keeping some of his shallow power for my use is already a rare value of his."

This also prevents his body from decaying and rotting, becoming as old and frail as you. Eternal art, how wonderful!

Sasori was completely unaffected by the curses and insults from the Sand Ninja, and spoke of his masterpiece with an air of self-righteousness.

"Puppet masters are human too, just ordinary ninjas. They don't want to turn themselves into puppets!"

Chiyo's aged body trembled again, her voice filled with heartache. The path she had envisioned for her grandson was that of a village hero, a master who had developed puppetry to a new level, and a powerful figure who would dominate the ninja world.

But she never imagined that Scorpion would develop puppetry to such an inhumane degree.

Chiyo closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then opened them with a solemn expression, saying, "It seems you won't listen to what I'm saying, so let me teach you a lesson with my puppet!"

As she spoke, Chiyo's aged body suddenly straightened up a bit, and she took out a storage scroll from her bosom to summon two puppets.
