Chapter 115 Not Learning from Experience

"Girl, it's you."

One day, Zuo Ling was screening application forms.

A dark-skinned, gaunt man suddenly shouted.

The man's hair was a mess, his clothes were so dirty you couldn't tell what color they were originally, and his face was covered in chilblains.

"You know me?"

The man grinned, looking like he was about to cry.

"It's no wonder the girl doesn't remember me. I look like a ghost now, even if my old wife were still here, she wouldn't recognize me."

He looked somewhat familiar, but Zuo Ling couldn't remember where she had seen him before.

"You bought 10,000 watermelons from me, young lady, do you remember?"

Zuo Ling bought a large quantity, which left a deep impression on the melon farmer, who recognized her as soon as he entered the house.

Speaking of ten thousand watermelons, Zuo Ling remembered.

"Uncle, it's you! What brings you here?"

The words had barely left his mouth when he realized he'd asked a foolish question, but it was too late to take them back.

The melon farmer's eyes reddened, and he rubbed his hands, unsure of where to begin.

"Just you alone?"

Afraid that he would cry, Zuo Ling quickly changed the subject.

"No, there are more than a dozen of us who came together."

I asked around and found that most of the people there were young adults, with two women, both of whom were quite old.

Zuo Ling explained the conditions for joining the community.

"Sure, sure, we're all experienced farmers, we can do any job, and we're not afraid of hardship."

Zuo Ling asked the melon farmer to bring in the people he had brought and inspect them one by one.

Everyone looked disheveled, their clothes were all torn, and their winter clothes were a motley collection, some long and some short.

Clearly, they were living a very miserable life.

However, since they were in good spirits, Zuo Ling immediately checked them in.

The melon farmer was so moved that he kept bowing to Zuo Ling.

“Young lady, it’s lucky we met you. Before coming here, I thought Noah’s Ark was a high-end community and wouldn’t take us in.”

"You're too kind. I'm just following the rules. Everyone here meets the requirements for hiring in the community."

Zuo Ling was telling the truth.

If you don't want to go hungry, knowing how to grow crops is the most important thing.

If they can grow melons, they should also be able to grow vegetables and grains. It's a good deal for the community to take them in.

The melon farmer didn't think so. There were plenty of people who knew how to farm, so why should such a good thing fall on their heads? It must be because Zuo Ling had given them special treatment. He kept saying polite things like he would definitely repay the girl in the future.

Zuo Ling felt embarrassed by their thanks and told them to hurry down and make the necessary arrangements.

The melon farmer left, expressing his deepest gratitude.

Among the people who came in with the melon farmer was a woman who had been staring at Zuo Ling with a vicious look in her eyes, as if she wanted to devour her alive.

Zuo Ling didn't notice, but Researcher Tang did.

He nudged Zuo Ling and gestured with his chin in the direction the melon farmers had gone, "You know her?"

"who?"

Researcher Tang pointed to the woman's back and said, "She wasn't looking at you with friendly eyes."

Zuo Ling had no recollection of it, saying, "I don't know her."

Researcher Tang warned, "That person is acting strangely; be careful."

The old man's repeated reminders alerted Zuo Ling.

Looking through the registration information, Ge Cuiying is from Gezhuang.

The photo is a small passport-sized picture; it looks familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen it before.

Researcher Tang was experienced and shrewd, and Zuo Ling listened to what she said, silently noting down Ge Cuiying's appearance and name.

That day, Zuo Ling and Professor Jin and his wife returned home from the property management office for dinner.

The screening of disaster victims was nearing its end, and the three of them were very happy, chatting and laughing all the way.

As we approached Building 3, we encountered a person carrying a medium-sized bucket, coming out of Unit 1 of Building 3.

The man was wrapped up so that only his eyes were visible. When he saw Zuo Ling, his eyes darted away, and he paused for a moment, wanting to take another route.

Realizing something was wrong, Zuo Ling shouted, "Stop!"

I've been living in Building 3 for several months now. With all the comings and goings, I know most of the people in the building, if not all of them.

The man didn't stop, but instead turned and ran. Zuo Ling immediately chased after him and shot out the Immortal Binding Rope.

Before he could dodge, he was tied up. His body was bound, but his legs were still running forward. Due to inertia, his whole body lurched forward and he crashed heavily to the ground.

The bucket in his hand flew out, the lid was smashed open, and a foul smell wafted out.

Zuo Ling glanced at it; the bucket was empty, but she could still tell what had once been inside.

She nudged him. "I'm calling you, why are you running away?"

The man grimaced in pain, but didn't utter a sound.

"Who gave you permission to enter our building?"

The unit door is equipped with a fingerprint lock, and the fingerprint information of the unit residents is pre-entered into the system.

If you are not a resident of the building, you cannot enter the building even if someone without a building unit guides you.

The fact that the man was able to enter means that someone helped him register his fingerprints, and only the property management staff could do that.

The man kept his eyes closed and didn't answer, acting as if he were a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water.

Thinking of something, Zuo Ling's face turned cold. "You won't answer, huh? Let's see how long you can keep up your stubbornness."

After saying that, he raised his foot and kicked, and with a bang, the man was kicked and rolled several meters away.

"Ouch..." the man cried out in pain.

Zuo Ling snorted coldly and kicked out again, bang...

The man felt like his ribs were broken, and he was in pain all over his body.

Zuo Ling didn't use all her strength, but she still kicked hard.

The man made a move to kick again, and shouted:

"No, no, no, stop kicking me! I'll talk, I'll talk! It was Young Master He! Young Master He told me to do it!"

Young Master He! It really was him.

The man was in so much pain that tears and snot streamed down his face. He confessed everything, and then his words flowed smoothly: "He was jealous of what happened last time, so he made me throw excrement and urine in front of your house. He made me do it, it has nothing to do with me. My family is almost starving, and he said he would give me 50 jin of rice."
