The Rookie Returns: Soaring in the Apocalypse

On the brink of the apocalypse, Zuo Ling is brought back to her distant relatives' Ding family and safely survives countless disasters through the chaos.

However, on the verge of death, s...

Chapter 360 has finally arrived.

With a thumping sound, a small figure gradually emerged from the darkness.

"Liu Bao'er!"

Upon seeing who it was, the two were both surprised and understandable. Liu Bao'er's presence here explained his strange behavior.

"It's been a long time, you've finally arrived."

Liu Bao'er's voice carried an undeniable sense of vicissitude, which seemed out of place compared to his youthful appearance.

Pei Nansheng and Zuo Ling exchanged a glance and immediately realized that the child in front of them was the mysterious and unpredictable reclusive elder of the Ding family.

It's quite unexpected that the legendary, awe-inspiring Elder, who possesses extraordinary abilities, looks like a child!

Perhaps that is why the Grand Elder chose to live in seclusion, unwilling to be known by the world.

If Liu Bao'er knew that the two culprits were thinking this way, she would be so angry she could vomit half a liter more blood.

Seeing that the wolf cub she had been painstakingly trying to capture for years had finally become her prisoner, Liu Bao'er's long-suppressed frustration vanished instantly.

My heart raced, my blood surged, and I was so excited that I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

He had longed for this day for so long, and his anticipation was about to become a reality. How could he not be excited!

"Hahaha... Pei Nansheng, Zuo Ling, you never thought you'd end up like this!"

Liu Bao'er's smug laughter echoed in the dungeon, her gloomy eyes gleaming with the cunning of a cat playing with a mouse.

A man was facing a glass window, huddled in his office chair, his eyes half-open as he thought about something. His figure was obscured by the back of the chair, so his face was not visible.

The satellite phone suddenly rang, interrupting his thoughts.

He didn't turn around, but fumbled for the phone and answered it quietly, occasionally humming in response.

The person on the other end of the phone spoke for a while, and the man tapped his fingers lightly on the back of his chair, as if he was thinking about something.

The jarring dial tone sounded, and he slowly put down the phone, a smile playing on his lips. He said softly, "This day has finally come."

He got up and walked to the window. Outside the window was the vast and boundless sea, the unpredictable waters mirroring his current mood.

After thinking for a long time, unable to make up his mind, he paced back and forth, feeling an indescribable restlessness.

He started searching the room and finally found a cigar in a drawer. His eyes lit up and he grabbed it tightly.

He opened the window, and the salty, fishy smell filled the room, but the cool breeze made him feel a little better.

The lighter clicked, smoke billowed around him, blurring his vision. He took a deep breath, filling his chest with smoke, and then slowly exhaled.

As the cigar burned, his restless thoughts gradually calmed, his gaze focused, and he stood there quietly, enjoying the moment of peace before the storm.

As the sun set, he finally made up his mind and pressed the internal phone on the table.

Feng Wei was on night shift when a squad of heavily armed soldiers burst in, startling him.

The lead soldier said coldly:

"We've taken over this area. Please keep quiet and don't move around unnecessarily."

Feng Wei was stunned.

What's going on? Has a foreign enemy invaded? Or has a spy infiltrated?

Night fell, and people slept soundly, completely unaware that changes were quietly taking place at the base.

Squads of fully armed soldiers sprang into action, quickly and systematically sealing off all the base's major transportation routes.

Under the moonlight, the soldiers' figures appeared and disappeared in the darkness, as if they had blended into the night.

The entire base was enveloped in a tense and solemn atmosphere; the only sounds were the soldiers' breathing and the slight rustling of equipment.

Bai Hongwei was fast asleep when a burst of rapid and violent gunfire shattered the tranquility of the night.

Bang! Bang! Bang! ...A series of rapid shots followed, rat-a-tat-tat! rat-a-tat-tat... The sudden noise startled Bai Hongwei from his sleep.

"Someone come here! What's going on outside?"

Bai Hongwei scrambled to his feet and jumped to the window.

Bai Si stormed into the room, his whole body radiating coldness. Without saying a word, he grabbed Bai Hongwei and rushed out of the room.

Bai Si is an ability user sent by the Bai family to Bai Hongwei's side, shouldering the important responsibility of protecting his safety.

At this moment, his expression was solemn, and his eyes were filled with murderous intent.

"Wait! Wait! I'm not dressed yet! What's going on outside? Has the enemy invaded? I didn't hear any alarms!"

Bai Hongwei tried to break free from Bai Si's grasp, but Bai Si's hands were like iron clamps, and Bai Hongwei couldn't break free.

"The Mei family has rebelled!"

Bai Si gritted his teeth and forced out a few words.

Upon hearing this, Bai Hongwei froze, forcefully shoving Bai Si away and shouting, "What did you say? Say it again!"

"Didn't you want to know who the traitor is? It's Chief Mei, Mei Yanqing, the one you always respectfully called Uncle Mei! He's the traitor!"

Bai Si's words were like a sharp sword, piercing Bai Hongwei's heart.

No sooner had he finished speaking than a bullet pierced through the wall. Bai Si nimbly lunged to the side and tackled Bai Hongwei to the ground.

Bai Hongwei was still in shock. What was Bai Si saying?

He had indeed been searching for the person secretly colluding with Elder Ding, but he never expected it to be Uncle Mei!

No, no, he must have misheard!

The gunfire outside intensified, and Bai Hongwei's guards were forced into retreat. Although his men were formidable in combat, they were outnumbered, and the Bai family's superhumans were being held back by the Mei family's superhumans. As soon as the battle began, it became a one-sided affair.

Bai Qi, his face contorted with rage and covered in blood, stormed into the room. Seeing Bai Si and Bai Hongwei still there, he roared:

"Bai Si, what the hell are you dawdling for? Get him away from here right now!"
