With a perfect landing against the wall, Ji Yueyao dusted off her hands and strode towards the training area. There was no other way; an ID card was required to enter the training area, and where was she, a "dead person," supposed to get one? She could only play the role of a gentleman on the wall for once.

But where exactly had she climbed over? To avoid the guards, she had circled the entire training area before finding a suitable spot to scale the wall. Now that she was coming in, she couldn't find her way again. Ji Yueyao looked around. If only Sky were here, that would be perfect. Ji Tiehan looked at the group of people in front of him, who were too tired to get up, with satisfaction. Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye, and then all the words got stuck in his throat.

Ji Yueyao also noticed Ji Tiehan's gaze. She raised her hand and waved. Perhaps because Ji Tiehan had taught her a lot at the Xiyu base, Ji Yueyao had always respected this strict teacher in her heart.

Although he was somewhat disappointed in Wei Kang during the rookie duel, his later wholehearted care for Wei Kang was genuine.

Upon hearing Ji Yueyao mention this, Ji Tiehan sighed softly, turned around, and opened a door behind him. "Come with me."

Ji Yueyao followed. Behind the door was a dark and quiet corridor. The sound of footsteps echoed in the corridor, making it seem even more eerie and quiet.

Ji Yueyao pressed her hand to her chest, feeling as if her heart was about to jump out of her chest... Was Wei Kang at the end of the corridor?

At the end of the corridor was another door. Pushing it open, Ji Yueyao saw Wei Kang sitting by the window almost immediately.

He had lost a lot of weight, practically skin and bones. He lay on the windowsill as if he had no strength left, staring blankly out the window, lifeless and devoid of any vitality.

At that moment, Ji Yueyao felt her heart tighten. She stood at the door, covering her mouth and her eyes reddening.

Wei Kang noticed and turned around, then froze for a moment.

The two of them stood there dumbfounded until Wei Kang spoke up incredulously, "...Ji Yueyao?"

Ji Yueyao then rushed forward and pinched Wei Kang's face, crying tears of joy, "You idiot, you've finally woken up!"

Wei Kang winced in pain, but his hands trembled as he gripped Ji Yueyao's waist. "You're the idiot... Damn it, I thought you were dead!"

"Do you know that when I woke up, all I heard was that my father was dead, and you were dead too... Do you know that feeling of utter despair when you suddenly have nothing left?" Wei Kang gripped Ji Yueyao's shoulders and said excitedly, tears streaming down his face. He would never forget the despair of waking up alone in that white hospital room, and he would never forget the pain of learning that his father and Ji Yueyao were dead while he was in a coma.

"Damn it... why aren't you by my side while you're alive... why didn't you tell me even a single word!" Wei Kang roared out his last words in a hoarse voice, then leaned weakly against Ji Yueyao.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry..." Ji Yueyao finally couldn't help but sob. She patted Wei Kang's shoulder, feeling that nothing had changed, they were still the same as before.

But in reality... they had all changed. Ji Yueyao only realized this much later, but by then they had already gone their separate ways.

Ji Tiehan stood at the door the whole time. He looked at Ji Yueyao and Wei Kang, who were sobbing, shook his head, turned around and walked out, leaving them alone.

Once the two had calmed down, Wei Kang sat down on the bamboo chair, frowning, and asked, "Where did you go? Why did everyone at the Xiyu base say you were dead?"

Ji Yueyao took a deep breath, paused, and said concisely, "Back then, I wanted to earn more points, so I accepted a mission to the desolate city. Unexpectedly, Xu Lingnan injured my leg and handed me over to the people at Tianyu Base. Later, I escaped and went to Nanxiao Base to develop my career."

“Xu Lingnan…” Wei Kang frowned. “I heard from the teacher that when I was unconscious, you were already the captain of the tenth team in the search department, right? Xu Lingnan was your teammate… We know that his character wasn’t too bad before, so why would he suddenly betray you?”
