With her eyes open, she was faced with a mud-brick house and a strong, rough man. Xia Lan was bewildered.
She discovered she had actually returned to the 1970s, becoming an orphan who had jus...
"Hehe." Xia Lan grinned, and the two exchanged a knowing glance.
"By the way, when you sleep at night, make sure to keep your bag close to your body and hide it well."
Xia Lan whispered a reminder to Sudan.
Sudan's expression changed.
"One should always be wary of others; it's always good to be cautious when you're out and about."
Xia Lan gently patted the Sultan and gave him instructions.
“My dad said the same thing. I know, I’ll listen to you.”
Sudan nodded, returned to his upper bunk, and placed all his belongings close to his body.
The train moved slowly. After watching the scenery for a while, Xia Lan felt a little sleepy, so she lay down and slept for a while. In her drowsy state, she felt someone touch the bag in her arms.
Xia Lan was startled and immediately grabbed that hand.
After grabbing it, I realized that the hand didn't look like an adult's hand. When I opened my eyes, I saw that it was indeed the child of the woman on the upper bunk.
"Let me go! Let me go!" the boy shouted as he struggled desperately, being grabbed by Xia Lan.
Many people peeked over and saw Xia Lan holding the boy.
Everyone in the carriage felt sleepy after sitting for a while, and Sudan was also asleep. But the little boy's sudden movement startled everyone awake.
“He tried to steal my things,” Xia Lan said solemnly.
"No, I just want candy!" the little boy said angrily.
Xia Lan refused to give him the candy, and he kept asking for it. When he climbed down and saw that Xia Lan was asleep, he thought he would take it himself.
"What's wrong? What are you doing holding my son? Let go!" The woman suddenly appeared and tried to snatch her son back.
Xia Lan refused to let go, and the woman, unable to snatch it back, began to curse.
"You're hurting my son's hand, let go!"
"The child doesn't understand, why are you arguing with a child? How old is he!"
Xia Lan didn't care how much the women protected him. He was so young and had no one to discipline him, so they let him do whatever he wanted.
"Does being a child give you the right to steal other people's things? Is this how you, as his mother, have taught him? He's so young and already stealing candy; will he start stealing money later?"
Everyone's faces fell when they heard Xia Lan's words.
They were tired after a long train ride and were all resting. When a child came over and touched them, they didn't pay any attention to it and subconsciously didn't take the child seriously.
If a child really steals money, they won't even be able to find out who the thief is.
"Before this, have you taken anything from other people?" Xia Lan asked with a stern face, holding the boy's hand.
"It hurts, Mom, tell her to let go! My hand hurts so much..." The boy's eyes glazed over, and he immediately burst into tears. Xia Lan clearly hadn't used much force.
"Let go of my son right now! You're hurting him! He's just a child. Why are you making such bad things about him? He's only four years old and doesn't understand anything yet!"
The woman glared at Xia Lan, telling her to let go.
Xia Lan sneered and refused to let go.
"Why are you crying? Everyone's watching. My hand has no strength at all."
Everyone gathered around, and they didn't see Xia Lan clench her hand; she simply grabbed his.
"A four-year-old isn't unable to speak. Just tell me if you've rummaged through other people's bags, and I'll let you go."
Xia Lan said to the child.
The woman's expression changed, and she was about to speak when Xia Lan immediately spoke up.
"Don't speak. I'm asking the child. He spoke very fluently today. I want him to answer himself."
Xia Lan's actions surprised everyone; no one expected that this seemingly weak woman would have such courage and spirit.
"I...I..." The boy was frightened by Xia Lan. After all, he was still a child, and he couldn't get over being questioned like this.
His eyes couldn't help but glance at the couple beside him, and then at a few people in the crowd.
The person he was looking at instantly changed their expression.
Go back to your seat immediately and check what you've lost.
"My food coupons are gone from my bag!"
"My money is gone!"
"My watch is missing!"
The couple opposite Xia Lan also quickly rummaged through their bags, and after searching for a long time, their expressions changed.
The man in the couple glared fiercely at the child, then grabbed the child's clothes and lifted him up.
"My receipts and two ten-yuan bills, where are the rest? Hand them over."
The man's fierce appearance frightened everyone, let alone a child.
She was so scared of the man that she didn't even dare to cry!
"What are you doing? Let go of my son!"
The woman quickly grabbed the man's clothes and made him put her son down.
"And you, are you with the things? Hand them over right now!" The man grabbed the woman and asked coldly.
"Excuse me, could someone please call a flight attendant?"
When Xia Lan saw that the man had made a move, she quickly sent someone to find a flight attendant.
"I'll go." Someone immediately went to find the flight attendant.
A moment later, two flight attendants rushed over.
"It's you again! What happened? Comrade, let go first."
The female flight attendant, seeing that it was the same woman again, couldn't help but ask, "And now that the man is grabbing the woman, tell him to let go first."
The man glanced at the two flight attendants and reluctantly let go.
"Comrade, this is what happened! I was sleepy and felt someone trying to rummage through my things, so I grabbed them. I didn't expect it to be the child in the bunk above me." Xia Lan began to tell the flight attendant what had happened.
"After I caught him, the woman rushed over and demanded that I let go of her son. She said she just wanted to take the candy from my bag, but I felt that his method was very practiced, so I suspect that this was not the first time he had done this..."
"Then we asked him if he had gone through anyone else's things. He glanced at them, and everyone went back to check their bags and found that things were indeed missing. Then this man also discovered that something was missing, and that's when the argument started..."
Xia Lan's explanation was unanimously accepted, and many people immediately chimed in.
"My watch is missing..."
"My tickets are missing..."
"And me, my money is gone too..."
The person who lost something should quickly announce that their belongings are gone.
After hearing Xia Lan's words and everyone else's comments, the flight attendant looked down at the boy, who lowered his head in fear.
He looked at the woman, but she avoided his gaze.
"Please come with me," the two flight attendants said, grabbing the woman and child.
The woman panicked and couldn't help but look in a certain direction, where she saw a head dart by.
Xia Lan waved to the flight attendant, who glanced at Xia Lan and then approached her.
"Comrade, they probably had accomplices."
Xia Lan whispered in the flight attendant's ear.
The female flight attendant paused, looked at Xia Lan, and Xia Lan continued.
"When she panicked just now, she subconsciously looked at the next carriage. I noticed that someone immediately pulled their head back. You can go to the next carriage and take a look later. Adults can pretend, but children can't."
Xia Lan's words reminded the female flight attendant, her eyes lit up, then she put away her smile and turned back to face everyone with a cold expression.
