Chapter 219 Old Master Du's Test

Qin Yu sat in the car on the way back, gazing in the direction of Beijing University, his eyes dark and unfathomable.

Everyone remained silent, leaving Qin Yu alone.

Suddenly, the military vehicle braked sharply and came to a stop.

Two men in Zhongshan suits walked over and asked the people in the car behind them.

"Excuse me, which one of you is Qin Yu?"

"I am."

Qin Yu slowly stood up and looked at the two of them.

"Old Du invites you to come with us."

The two men in Zhongshan suits looked at Qin Yu and extended an invitation.

Qin Yu nodded, threw his luggage off the bus, and nimbly jumped out of the carriage.

"Qin Yu!" Wang Ding looked at Qin Yu worriedly, but Qin Yu waved his hand.

"Please!" The two men lifted Qin Yu's car into the trunk of a waiting car and then invited Qin Yu to get in.

Qin Yu calmly got into the car.

The two immediately got into the car and started the engine.

Wang Ding and the others looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

Old Yang glanced at the license plate, paused, and sighed.

"Let's go! Old Qin will be fine."

Old Yang's words brought everyone back to their senses. They exchanged glances, and the vehicle started moving again.

Qin Yu sat in the car, his two companions with indifferent faces, leading him to a courtyard house. Qin Yu kept track of the route the whole way.

This courtyard house isn't far from Beijing University, but this area isn't open to just anyone.

Soldiers guarded the entire route.

Upon arriving at their destination, the two invited Qin Yu to get out of the car and led him into a courtyard house. Under the grape trellis in the center of the courtyard, an old man was leisurely drinking tea.

His eyes lit up when he saw Qin Yu arrive.

"Qin Yu!"

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Qin Yu looked up and saw Du Wenqing.

"Old Du?" Qin Yu was taken aback, not expecting to see Du Wenqing here.

"I'm so sorry, I've been so busy lately. I've wanted to invite you for a long time, but I kept putting it off until now. I'm so glad I managed to bring you back."

Du Wenqing stepped forward and patted Qin Yu on the shoulder. It had been a while since they last met. The only people in the world he still cared about were Qin Yu and Xia Lan.

"Old Du, it's been so long, how have you been?" Qin Yu relaxed the moment he saw Old Du.

Old Du waved to the two men who brought Qin Yu over, and they turned and left.

He led Qin Yu to the grape trellis and poured him a cup of tea.

“Xia is at a university in Beijing. I’m afraid that contacting her will cause her trouble, so I asked my granddaughter to take care of her.”

Old Du smiled.

"You came all the way to the capital for your wife, so surely I can at least meet her?"

"What are you saying, Elder Du? If you want to see me, of course you can," Qin Yu chuckled.

"Why did the teacher stop calling?"

Old Du noticed that Qin Yu kept calling him Old Du but not Teacher, so he asked.

"Calling you 'teacher' is embarrassing for you! My academic performance is terrible, and if word gets out, it will ruin your reputation."

Qin Yu smiled at Master Du. After all, although he had been Master Du's student for two days, he didn't dare to call him "Master" with his limited knowledge, for fear of embarrassing him.

"Once a teacher, always a teacher. I will always consider you my teacher."

Seeing that Elder Du's expression was not good, Qin Yu quickly added.

"I'm not looking down on you, I'm afraid you'll look down on me."

Upon hearing Qin Yu's explanation, Old Du smiled again and glanced at Qin Yu.

"What did that girl Xia Lan teach you?" Old Du asked, intending to test him.

"I only taught you a little bit," Qin Yu said with a faint smile.

Old Du raised an eyebrow and glanced at Qin Yu; this kid was up to no good.

He got up and went to his study, took out two test papers from the room, and placed them in front of Qin Yu.

"Do!"

Qin Yu glanced at Old Du helplessly, took the pen, and began working on the questions.

Seeing that the test paper seemed to be full of questions that Xia Lan had taught him, Qin Yu breathed a sigh of relief and picked up his pen to start working on it.

Old Du appeared calm, but he couldn't help but steal a glance out of the corner of his eye. When he saw Qin Yu's answer, the corner of his mouth curled up slightly.

Qin Yu spent half an hour writing down all the questions he knew how to answer on the test paper. The remaining blanks were for questions he didn't know how to answer, so Qin Yu didn't touch them.

The test paper was handed to Mr. Du, who solemnly put on his glasses, took out a red pen, and began to grade it.

Qin Yu pretended not to care, picked up his teacup and took a sip, then secretly glanced at the exam paper marked with red pen.

After Mr. Du finished grading the papers, he returned them to Qin Yu. Qin Yu looked at the score of 86 on the paper and breathed a sigh of relief.

At least I passed.

"Did Xia Lan teach you that?" Old Du took off his glasses and looked at Qin Yu.

Qin Yu nodded.

"What are your plans for the future? Xia Lan is a smart girl. Once she finishes university, she definitely won't just stay here waiting for you."

Old Master Du said earnestly, "I know that Xia Lan's future achievements will definitely not be low. Is Qin Yu willing to be the man behind her?"

As a man, Old Master Du hoped that the flame in Qin Yu's heart had not yet been extinguished.

"Stay by her side." Qin Yu glanced at Old Du and said truthfully.

As for the future, he didn't know.

He didn't know what Xia Lan could achieve, but he knew himself and didn't want her to suffer. He wanted to give her the best of everything.

Old Du and Qin Yu locked eyes, but in the end, Old Du was the one who looked away first.

"Stay with me for now!"

Old Du's gaze toward Qin Yu held a hint of compromise.

"Okay." Qin Yu did not refuse.

Old Du's lips curled into a smile. "When Xia Lan has her weekend off, go pick her up and we can get together."

"Okay!" she replied without the slightest hesitation.

Old Du looked at Qin Yu with amusement and led him to a room.

"This is a room I specially prepared for you. Please stay here for the time being."

"Okay." Qin Yu did not refuse and accepted all of Elder Du's arrangements.

"Old Du, is there a phone? I'd like to make a call?" Qin Yu remembered Meng Jianguo and thought he should inform him.

"It's on the table in my study, go ahead!" Old Du lay back in his recliner, rocking back and forth comfortably.

Qin Yu entered the study, which was filled with books. He also noticed several books with the character "ant" on them on the desk, demonstrating the high level of Du Lao's knowledge.

He picked up the phone and dialed Meng Jianguo's number. At that moment, Meng Jianguo had just learned that Qin Yu had not returned and was inquiring everywhere about which important figure had taken Qin Yu away.

The phone rang suddenly, and Meng Jianguo picked it up.

"I am Meng Jianguo."

"It's me, Qin Yu!"

Qin Yu said calmly.

"Where are you now? Who took you away?" Meng Jianguo stared at the phone, wishing he could stare at Qin Yu on the other end.

"In Beijing, a courtyard house."

Qin Yu didn't say much, but the words "courtyard house" alone revealed a lot of information.

Meng Jianguo nodded.

Then, remembering that Qin Yu couldn't see her, she asked again, "Is it safe?"

"Old friend."

Qin Yu said slowly, "I'll be staying here for a while. Call me if you need anything."
