With her eyes open, she was faced with a mud-brick house and a strong, rough man. Xia Lan was bewildered.
She discovered she had actually returned to the 1970s, becoming an orphan who had jus...
"What's wrong? What happened?"
Xia Lan looked at Du Wenqing with a puzzled expression.
Du Wenqing took out a bunch of things from behind him. Xia Lan looked at these familiar things and looked at Du Wenqing in confusion.
"This time, you can't refuse!"
"That woman, Du Juan, really angered the old man."
Lu Wu explained to Xia Lan from the side.
"She was at the door, and she actually openly insulted Old Master Du."
Lu Wu gets furious whenever he talks about Du Juan.
"What exactly happened?"
Xia Lan looked at Du Wenqing and Lu Wu with confusion.
"You all take a rest! My business isn't urgent..."
Du Wenqing suddenly spoke up, telling Xia Lan and the others to rest for a while before continuing.
Qin Jun also pursed his lips.
Xia Lan was puzzled and looked at Du Wenqing, but she did not object to him. She packed up the things she had brought back.
"Dad, this is what Chen's father brought for you."
Xia Lan remembered something and took out the things Chen Hao had prepared for Qin Jun from her bag.
"What's this?"
"Oh? Good stuff! Imported liquor? And this is cigarettes?"
Qin Jun looked at the gifts Chen Hao had given him, opened them, and found they were all rare foreign gadgets.
"Is this Chen Hao your friend's husband?"
Qin Jun raised an eyebrow and asked.
"No, it's Chen Hua's father."
Xia Lan introduced him to Qin Jun.
"Chen Hua is Chu Xiaolan's boyfriend."
"oh."
Qin Jun nodded.
"They put their heart into it."
It's not easy to buy all these things.
Xia Lan smiled and went to pack her things.
Tuantuan and Yuanyuan also took their gifts back to their room.
Once everything was packed up, everyone sat on the sofa.
Du Wenqing saw Xia Lan sit down and exchanged a glance with Lu Wu.
"Girl, I've transferred everything under my name to you."
"……puff."
Xia Lan was drinking water when she heard Du Wenqing say that, and she spat out a mouthful of water.
"What did you say?"
Xia Lan blinked and looked at Du Wenqing.
"Du Juan sued me."
Du Wenqing's face turned cold, and he spoke slowly to Xia Lan.
"Because she couldn't win me over and couldn't repair our relationship, she actually went around suing me."
"However, everyone knows about my situation with her, so no one paid any attention to her unreasonable demands."
"But ultimately it has a negative impact on me."
Du Wenqing looked at Xia Lan.
“The organization talked to me recently. I told them last time that I had taken you as my goddaughter, so when they asked me where I would retire, I could only choose you or Du Juan.”
"A specific person must be designated."
"I choose you."
Du Wenqing glanced at Xia Lan cautiously, and Xia Lan looked back at Du Wenqing with amusement.
"Grandpa Du, that's always been what I call you!"
Xia Lan chuckled softly.
"Even before you were exonerated, Yu-ge and I promised you that we would never let you be homeless!"
Qin Yu slowly walked up to Du Wenqing.
"Whether you have these things or not, we will take care of you!"
Qin Yu said to Du Wenqing.
"I knew the two kids wouldn't mind!"
Lu Wu patted Du Wenqing and chuckled.
Du Wenqing's eyes welled up with tears.
Of course he knew that, but it would cause them trouble later.
"So what kind of trouble will this problem cause me? What is it that's causing you so much distress?"
Xia Lan asked.
She also wanted to be mentally prepared for what problems she might encounter.
"Because you are not related to me by blood..."
Du Wenqing glanced at Xia Lan and whispered.
"There are quite a lot of documents to sign, so I'm making sure you won't abandon me..."
Du Wenqing took out a pile of documents and asked Xia Lan to sign them.
Shouldn't you be the one abandoning me?
Xia Lan laughed.
But they still signed the documents.
"Alright, the alimony agreement has been signed. Now let's see what Du Juan has to sue for!"
Lu Wu was the happiest when he saw Xia Lan finish signing the document.
"These are all yours!"
Du Wenqing chuckled and handed all his belongings to Xia Lan.
"Even I am yours now."
"Wow, a titan has become mine just like that. I wonder how many people will envy me~"
Xia Lan said playfully, echoing Du Wenqing's words with humor.
"Hahahaha..."
Everyone burst into laughter.
After everyone had left, Du Wenqing found Xia Lan again.
"Girl, you really..."
"Grandpa, what are you worried about?"
Xia Lan looked at Du Wenqing.
"This might bring you some negative public opinion."
Du Wenqing lowered his head.
"Du Juan's matter isn't a huge issue, but it's not insignificant either. At least, to outsiders, it looks like I have a biological daughter, yet you're the one supporting me..."
Du Wenqing, who had previously faced public criticism, pursed his lips.
He knows all too well the power of public opinion.
They are ignorant of right and wrong, and they don't know what happened in between, so they will interpret the matter according to their own understanding.
These words are not necessarily all kind words.
Some might say that Xia Lan is...
"We encountered the same problem when you were in the village, didn't we?"
Xia Lan chuckled and looked at Du Wenqing.
"But back then it was the other way around. You hadn't been exonerated yet. Do you remember what they said?"
"They don't understand why we brought you home, why we're keeping an idle person on our side, why..."
