The Scum Aunt Was Divorced, Then Led the Whole Village to Show Off Their Meat

When Ye Caiping opened her eyes, she was a divorced woman cast out of her husband's home, with her sister-in-law sharpening her knife at her. It's not that the sister-in-law wouldn't to...

Chapter 7: Do Not Differentiate

Ye Daquan put the sack on the ground with a "heave-ho".

He took out a handkerchief from his pocket, carefully opened it, and inside were two osmanthus candies.

"Here you go. I knew you were coming, so my uncle specially went to town to buy this."

As he spoke, Ye Daquan stuffed the candy into the hands of the two sisters.

Ye Jin'er looked embarrassed.

Their maternal grandparents have always doted on them, especially their two uncles, who always give them the best things.

In the past, when they came occasionally, I would accept the candy and snacks without much trouble. But now that I'm living here as a guest, and I'm going to stay for a long time, the things I bring are a bit too much for me to handle.

Ye Jin'er happened to see Ye Yinhua standing at the kitchen door and quickly went up to her, saying, "Cousin Yinhua, this is candy that your uncle bought. Here, have a piece."

"Why give it to her? Isn't that a waste? This is for you and Huan'er," Ye Daquan said anxiously.

Ye Caiping, who was not far away, twitched her lips. Was it really okay for him to talk about his niece like that? Wasn't he afraid that Ye Erquan would slap him?

But Ye Caiping was too naive. Ye Erquan, Yinhua's biological father, came out of the room and said, "Big brother is right. Yinhua doesn't like to eat these things. Jin'er, you eat them."

Ye Yinhua nodded timidly: "Yes... I... I don't like to eat it."

Ye Daquan walked over to Ye Caiping and took out a small handkerchief from his pocket:

"This is rouge I bought for my little sister. I know you like Zhenbaofang brand. Wearing it will make you look brighter, and you'll find a better family than that beast Li Zhiyuan! It'll make him furious!"

“A box of rouge from Zhenbaofang costs over a hundred coins! Where did you get the money?” Madam Du came out of the kitchen, followed by Madam Wei.

Ye Daquan was already dissatisfied with Du because of what happened yesterday: "What's it to you? Anyway, I didn't use your money!"

"What is this?" Madam Du stepped forward, opened the burlap sack on the ground, and reached in with her hand. She saw large grains of white rice, and her face immediately changed: "This is white rice? We can't even get enough to eat in our family right now, with just coarse rice porridge mixed with bran. And you're buying white rice?"

At this moment, Old Man Ye and Old Woman Ye also came over upon hearing the noise. They stared in disbelief at the large bag of white rice on the ground.

Old Man Ye frowned: "What is it now? We're so poor we can't even afford to eat, how did you manage to bring all this back?"

Ye Daquan said in a muffled voice, "Our family is poor, we can eat whatever we want, but my little sister has to eat white rice! So I went to the Zhao family in town to borrow some money to buy things. That stingy old woman insisted on making trouble!"

Mrs. Du was trembling with anger: "We can't even get enough to eat on coarse rice and wild vegetable porridge! At a time like this, why should she have to eat white rice even if we have to borrow money? I can't live like this anymore!"

As she spoke, Du rushed toward the gate. As she passed Ye Caiping, she glared fiercely at Ye Caiping and her daughter before disappearing from sight.

"You stubborn old woman, don't come back once you leave!" Ye Daquan said, then sidled up to Ye Caiping and chuckled, "Don't worry, little sister, as long as your big brother is here, I'll make sure you have meat and white rice every meal."

Ye Erquan nodded: "Don't worry about getting married in the future, your second brother will send white rice to your house."

Standing in the corner, Wei and her nephews and nieces were all expressionless, clearly used to it and numb to the abuse.

Grandma Ye opened her mouth, but she didn't want the house to be noisy, nor did she want to wrong her daughter.

Old Man Ye mumbled something but remained silent. He clearly knew the situation needed to change, but dared not take action.

Ye Caiping turned to look at him: "Dad, I'm going back to my room to pack up, and I'll move out right away."

Everyone was taken aback by these words.

"Little sister, what did you say? Move out?" Ye Daquan was stunned on the spot: "Why would you move out?"

Ye Caiping looked at him coldly: "I can't live like this anymore."

Ye Daquan said anxiously, "Little sister, don't worry. It's all that old hag's fault. She's always making a fuss. I'll divorce her right now and see if she still makes a fuss!"

Ye Yong and Ye Jinhua, who were standing nearby, changed their expressions when they heard that their mother was going to divorce them.

"Is she the one causing trouble?" Unexpectedly, Ye Caiping glared angrily at Ye Daquan: "It's you and Second Brother!"

Ye Daquan was taken aback: "Me?"

"I'm staying here to make amends, not to act like a lord! From now on, I'll eat whatever everyone else eats. You can return this bag of rice and the rouge. If you continue to treat me differently and cause chaos, I'll move out immediately!"

Ye Daquan was startled: "No... how will you survive outside? I... I'll back out..."

Ye Caiping stared at him intently: "Okay, you have to promise me one more thing: you're not allowed to argue with your sister-in-law anymore, and you have to go to Xiaoduzhuang and bring her back."

"What, I have to pick her up? She's got legs, she'll be back in a couple of days," Ye Daquan muttered.

"Just answer it when I tell you to!"

Ye Daquan looked unwilling. His younger sister should have the best of everything, but it was all that nagging woman's fault for making a fuss. But since his sister had spoken, he dared not argue.

Seeing that the matter was resolved, Grandma Ye breathed a sigh of relief: "I'll go with Daquan to pick up his wife first thing tomorrow morning."

Ye Caiping said, "Then I'll have to trouble you, Mother."

Ye Caiping knew that if she went with Ye Daquan, her sincerity would be even greater. However, her decision to repay the original owner's debts did not mean she was willing to put up with Du's mistreatment.

After three months, once she has earned the thirty taels, she will move out with her two daughters.

Old Man Ye pondered for a moment before speaking: "Let's return ten jin of this rice and keep three jin. Cai Ping is still injured and definitely needs to rest."

Ye Caiping felt a warmth in her heart, but shook her head: "No need, Father, I'm fine now. We're poor enough, we can't take on any more debt with interest."

Mainly, she didn't want to cause any trouble.

These dozen or so kilograms of white rice can only bring peace of mind if they are sold.
