During a ritual to summon demons, Aihuas finally recalled memories of his previous life.
This was supposed to be an online game developed and operated by his own company for six years. Now, h...
Chapter 358: Aiwass's Book of Law
However, Aiwass checked carefully and found that it actually had a complete ritual.
That is the Tail Ring Ceremony.
Because Merlin was right next to him, Aiwass didn't dare to look closely. He simply used his mind to turn the pages to the end of that chapter and found a gray mark there.
Aiwass recognized this mark. It was the "star" pattern on the Phantom Card. However, it wasn't colored, but gray.
——Is the occupied card position a star?
Aiwass recalled what type of card the Star card usually was.
He couldn't quite recall it for a moment, and had to think carefully before he could finally remember it.
Stars represent universal love, purification, healing, blessing, and empowerment. They typically occupy a Water-attributed slot, requiring Water-attributed mana. They most commonly seal monsters from the Path of Love - the Blood Realm, such as Blood Demons and Sirens. Examples include "Vampiric Touch," which grants lifesucking abilities, "Siren's Song," which provides continuous group healing, and "Water Regeneration," which instantly restores a significant amount of health to oneself or allies.
Generally speaking, players will return instantly when they are in the "star position".
—Maybe Aiwass is a relatively high-level healer, so the DPS class in the team, the Arch-Sinner, doesn't have time to use the Star Card. They might just burn it. Fortunately, this card slot is useless.
While the Book of Laws has four effects, its first, "Card Burn," is actually quite common—in other words, players must at least get a Grimoire with a Card Burn effect to complete it. Effects that increase card effects or reduce card costs may be useful, but they're definitely not as effective as Card Burn.
Therefore, after getting it, Aiwass knew how to use it without doing any experiments.
This effect is called "burning card" by players.
Basically, you can use one card's usage time to swap out another card on cooldown. However, you can only reset Phantom Cards; Sin Cards cannot. Because some card slots are useless in certain battles, it's better to use them to damage or strengthen them. This operation is called "burning" the card.
A top-tier, max-level Sinner can burn six times a day. This is equivalent to sacrificing six cards to force a burst card to play seven times in a row - this is the confidence of the Sinner as a burst class.
Without the card burning attribute, it is not worthy of being a burst profession, but in terms of endurance, it is definitely not as good as a serious endurance profession like the blood mage.
It can't go up or down, so it's stuck there.
However, card burns are usually capped at three or four times, requiring a deep purple base material to have a chance of getting six full upgrades. Aiwass was incredibly pleased that the Book of Law could instantly max it out—even though he only had the Butterfly of Perverse Flame, which could only be burned once. But at least he didn't have to upgrade his equipment anymore.
As the new profession that will appear in the future, Scholar of the Great Sin really doesn't know where he should go to get equipment if he wants to.
In-game, for the sake of gameplay and class balance, it can indeed be found in ruins. However, in real life, the probability of finding a Tome of Sin in an archaeological excavation is about the same as a villager sharing the secrets of nuclear fusion technology with you.
As this book was left by his grandfather, it might also be related to a sacred entity... This gave it two more sacred entries than normal dark purple equipment.
Generally speaking, the Codex of Sins should have one attribute initially, and gain a hidden effect after all are collected.
As it turns out, Aiwas's book has four entries...which means he can get two extra effects.
Even divine attributes—
Do you want to change into golden equipment?
However, the last three items were not yet unlocked. Aiwass couldn't see their specific effects, but he guessed that at least one of them would increase the card's effect.
But even so, this casting distance is already very impressive.
Generally speaking, the purple-level Sin Grimoire increases the spell reach to 20 meters. Therefore, the Sin Scholar is a medium-range profession.
The Book of Law is thirty to sixty meters - sixty meters can undoubtedly be considered a long-range profession.
...Although Aiwass currently does not have any pure damage type phantom cards, being able to summon the Flame Butterfly and the Earthbound Spirit directly to a distance of 60 meters is a considerable improvement.
A turret-type phantom like the Flame-Butterfly was indeed dangerous to stand next to Aiwass. It was easy for the opponent's area-of-effect spells to hit both of them together - and the most useful one was the airdropped Earthbound Spirit.
The original casting distance of the Earthbound Spirit was about 15 meters. Now, an additional 60 meters has been added, which makes it over 70 meters.
The control skills that could only be released at close range suddenly became so much farther... Aiwass had already imagined various uses in his mind.
"Is this book the equipment you're looking for?"
Sherlock looked at it, frowning. "But it doesn't seem to be anything special."
He did not hear the voice of the divine entity, nor did he see Aiwass's hallucination. To him, a purple gem floated over and then turned into a book in front of Aiwass.
Out of courtesy, he didn't look at the contents of Aiwass's book. But even with a quick glance, he could roughly tell that it contained some knowledge about rituals.
...Is it a ritual magic book?
But it seems that it does not have the "ritual space" of an ordinary ritual magic book.
Sherlock remembered the ritual codex used by ritualists, which was a portable space in which they could hide ritual materials, so that when performing a ritual, they didn't need to place the materials outside, thus achieving a sense of "casting without materials."
So it's the Grimoire of Contract used by demonologists?
Small contract tomes can store some familiars, while larger ones can carry one's own contracted demons. But it doesn't seem like it.
...Could it be the magic book used by the curse caster?
Sherlock really didn't know what the magic book used by the curse master looked like.
"This is my personal weapon."
Aiwass closed the book with a smile and said cheerfully, "Don't worry about this. It's quite useful anyway."
——Apart from anything else, the cards just have to be collected in a card book!
He raised his right hand, and three tarot cards modified by Aiwass - along with a pure red card as deep as red crystal and engraved with a butterfly mark, appeared from between Aiwass's fingers.
The "Death God" of [Earthbound Spirit], the "Moon" of [Shadow Blade], and the "Wheel of Fortune" of [Thunder Halberd] are all included.
And [Sin: Butterfly of Rebellious Flame] which has both "Sun" and "Hanged Man" entries.
There are five card slots in total.
As for the Shadow Cloak, Aiwass simply planned to keep it for himself. It was mainly used to release control for Aiwass and Butterfly, and it was not really needed to increase the casting range.
On the contrary, the Shadow Blade, which had been useless, immediately became tactical after the casting distance was increased.
As soon as they appeared, they seemed to be attracted.
They transformed into streams of light and sank into the Book of Dharma.
The count of Aiwas's Book of Law immediately increased to (5/21). The number of times he could burn a card also increased from 0 to 1 with the arrival of the Flame-Butterfly, giving Aiwas the ability to burn a card once a day.
Immediately afterwards, the white aura once again infused the star on the cover, transforming into a thin liquid. The amount wasn't large, only filling up a quarter of the star. As Aiwass shook the Book of Law, the amethyst-like white liquid swayed slightly.
——This is liquid attributeless mana!
But at this moment, Aiwass paused slightly.
Because immediately afterwards, some more knowledge emerged in his mind.
That is the knowledge of the five ritual spells—
Aiwass opened the Book of Law and turned to the chapter corresponding to "Death".
It was discovered that the second half of the "Resurrection of the Dead" ritual it originally wrote had been completed.
——So that’s how it’s used!
Aiwass's eyes suddenly lit up.
You also gave me over twenty ritual spells, right? Great, Grandpa! So bright!
He looked at the "5/7" that unlocked the second entry, and his heart was eager to try.
He is a little curious now. If the first entry is to burn the card... what will the remaining three be?
Aiwass already has five cards. He should be able to get seven soon.
If everything goes well, we'll probably have it together before heading to the Church!
Update completed!
Just a heads-up, tomorrow's update might be a little late, or it might be early. I guess I'll have to watch the finals first! But I won't be taking a day off!
