After a long and arduous journey, they finally arrived at the entrance to the border.

In the hazy darkness, a majestic city wall stood before us like a giant barrier. Torches flickered on the wall, illuminating the cold, stern faces of the guards and exuding an aura of grim determination.

Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu stood side by side, their eyes fixed on the city wall.

Xu Yuehuai said softly, "Bai Yu, do we really have to go? What if we get discovered?" There was a hint of unease in her voice.

Bai Yu smiled slightly and patted Xu Yuehuai on the shoulder: "Don't worry, we're prepared. As long as we act carefully, we'll definitely succeed." His eyes shone with determination and confidence.

The two men huddled close to the base of the city wall, carefully avoiding the guards' sight. Like ghosts in the night, they moved forward silently.

"Knock knock knock!"

Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps broke the silence of the night.

"Oh no, someone's coming!" Xu Yuehuai said nervously in a low voice.

She pulled Bai Yu and quickly hid in a thicket. The two held their breath, not daring to move.

A patrol of guards carrying torches approached, their faces wary and serious. The guards searched the area around the city wall carefully but found nothing amiss. Only after they left did Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu breathe a sigh of relief.

"That was so close!" Xu Yuehuai said, patting his chest with lingering fear.

Bai Yu smiled and said, "We still need to be careful. Now is not the time to relax."

The two continued walking close to the city wall, finally reaching a gap in it. Although narrow, the gap was large enough for both of them to squeeze through. Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu exchanged a smile and, in perfect unison, squeezed in together.

After passing through a gap in the city wall, they arrived at the other side of the border. Here lay a dense forest, with towering trees and lush foliage. Moonlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

"We did it!" Xu Yuehuai shouted excitedly, her face beaming with joy.

Bai Yu smiled and said, "Yes, we've finally passed the test. Now, we need to hurry back to Dongsang Kingdom."

As they talked, the two walked deeper into the forest. However, they didn't realize that their presence had already been discovered. Shortly after they left the border town, a group of men in black quietly followed them.

After traveling through the forest for a while, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu gradually sensed something was amiss. They felt as if someone was following them, so they quickened their pace, wanting to shake them off as soon as possible.

However, the men in black did not seem to intend to let them go; they followed closely behind, constantly closing the distance.

Xu Yuehuai frowned and turned to Bai Yu, saying, "Bai Yu, we're being followed. These people seem to have ill intentions towards us."

Bai Yu's expression also turned serious. He nodded and said, "I feel it too. We must be careful."

As they spoke, the two quickened their pace, wanting to shake off the men in black as soon as possible.

However, the men in black seemed to know their every move, and no matter how they changed direction, they were able to keep up.

Xu Yuehuai couldn't help but feel anxious: "Who exactly are these people? Why are they following us?"

Bai Yu shook his head and said, "I don't know either. But no matter who they are, we can't let them succeed."

The two continued walking through the forest, but the men in black behind them were getting closer and closer.

"We've been looking for you for ages! Prepare to die!"

Suddenly, the men in black caught up, wielding swords and knives, and charged towards Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu.

Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu were not afraid at all. They went forward and engaged in a fierce battle with the men in black.

Swords flashed and blades flew as the two sides engaged in a thrilling battle in the forest.

Xu Yuehuai, wielding a dagger, nimbly weaved through the men in black, each strike precise and ruthless. Bai Yu, on the other hand, brandished a longsword, engaging the men in black head-on, each swing carrying the force of a thunderbolt.

However, the number of men in black was simply too great, and they gradually began to feel overwhelmed. Sweat beaded on Xu Yuehuai's forehead as she panted, "Bai Yu, we have to find a way to get rid of them; this can't go on."

Bai Yu nodded, brandishing his longsword and repelling one of the men in black. Then, he grabbed Xu Yuehuai's hand and ran deeper into the forest. The two weaved through the dense trees, using the terrain to evade the attacks of the men in black.

After a fierce battle, they finally shook off the men in black. The two lay on the grass, panting heavily, filled with relief.

"We've finally escaped a disaster," Xu Yuehuai said, looking at Bai Yu with gratitude and respect in her eyes.

Bai Yu smiled and nodded, saying, "Yes, we were able to escape the pursuit this time thanks to your wit and courage."

The two rested on the grass for a while, then continued their journey towards the Kingdom of Dongsang. In the days that followed, they proceeded with extreme caution, fearing they might encounter danger again.

However, fate seemed determined not to let them go. Just as they were about to leave the forest, another group of men in black appeared. This time, the men in black were more numerous and stronger.

Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu knew that this pursuit was more dangerous than the last one. They had to come up with a better way to deal with it.

After some discussion, they decided to split up and use the forest terrain to confuse the men in black.

Xu Yuehuai ran in one direction, while Bai Yu chose another.

The two disappeared into the dense forest, leaving the men in black bewildered. Unsure which to pursue, they split into two groups, one chasing Xu Yuehuai and the other Bai Yu.

Xu Yuehuai weaved through the forest, using trees and bushes as cover and constantly changing direction. The man in black was completely outmaneuvered by her and could never catch up. As she ran, she kept an eye on the movements behind her, making sure she wasn't overtaken.

Bai Yu, however, chose a different path. Utilizing his lightness skill and swordsmanship, he engaged the man in black in a fierce battle. With his exceptional martial arts and intelligence, he successfully lured the man away from Xu Yuehuai. He maneuvered around the man, sometimes launching fierce sword attacks, sometimes dodging, displaying astonishing combat skills.

In the end, Xu Yuehuai and Bai Yu successfully escaped the pursuit of the men in black. They met deep in the forest, looked at each other and smiled, their eyes filled with relief and joy.

“We’re finally safe,” Xu Yuehuai said, looking at Bai Yu with gratitude and admiration in her heart.
