Chapter 125 World L: The End Because there was support, and an attack...

Because of support, and because the attackers' primary targets were the professor, Reena, and Ethan, who were desperately drawing fire and buying time, the professors only sustained minor injuries. Ethan and Reena also suffered minor injuries due to Ethan's constant casting of magic.

The guards responsible for protecting the professors were not so lucky; most of them were seriously injured, and three of them even died heroically.

Looking at the three lifeless corpses, the wounded who couldn't even stand up, and the elderly professors who had suffered such ordeal despite their advanced age, Reena lowered her eyes, concealing the murderous intent churning within them.

A normal society is so close, yet so many people still want to destroy it! Do they think she's some kind of saint just because she doesn't get angry? They all deserve to die!

"Take good care of their families." Tenas suppressed the surging emotions in his heart and quietly instructed his subordinates: "If they don't have any, take good care of the partners who are like family to them. They should all enjoy the same treatment as those who have been sacrificed."

That's all he could do. In this apocalyptic world, human life is as worthless as grass. He couldn't change the inevitable outcome, so he could only try to make it up to their families and friends after their sacrifice.

He had personally promoted them all, watching them grow from naive children into promising and reliable superhumans, some even younger than him, yet they died young.

In the apocalypse, you are a ruthless executioner, easily causing countless people and even those you cherish to perish.

Fortunately, your end is near.

They will do everything in their power to end your life and restore a normal society, instead of the current pathological system where the strong are respected and the weak are treated as disposable commodities.

Reena and Tenas started building momentum, but fortunately, they had already begun preparations by the time Ethan and his team created the antidote.

Delivering power always requires willingness; otherwise, it can be quite troublesome. Fortunately, Tenas and Reena are masters of public speaking, with unparalleled persuasive abilities as leaders. After setting certain special conditions, they managed to make everyone aware of the matter.

The eyes that had been extinguished by the apocalypse were now shining again, and the numb people were no longer the walking corpses they used to be. One or two of them wept with joy.

Although they later learned that the price was their own superpowers, and the scene gradually became deathly silent, many people were still persuaded and were willing to give them up.

As for the remaining troublemakers? Reena and Tenas had already come up with a plan, and although it took some time, they were ultimately successful.

A month after the vaccine was developed, it finally won everyone's approval.

Assassinations were rampant during this period, with blood flowing through the base every day as countless assassins came one after another. Even though they were well prepared, Reena and the other decision-makers still had several unhealed wounds on their bodies.

They were racing against time every month because they needed all the superhumans in the world to disappear, not just in their own country. Even though the other country kept putting pressure on them, they never backed down and even created public opinion pressure, forcing the other side to retreat step by step.

Do you disagree because you want to continue living in this terrible apocalypse? You are powerful today, but will you always be just as powerful in the future? You can bully the weak, but when someone stronger comes along to bully you, will you be able to fight back?

If the upper levels are unwilling, then the lower levels are not necessarily unwilling either.

While you can cover up their mouths, can you cover up everyone's mouths? Even if you deal with the people they sent to create this public opinion, can they still kill everyone?

This is a seed, a seed for this terrible world to return to normalcy. Reena has planted it deep in everyone's heart, waiting for the day it breaks through the soil and grows into a lush, towering tree in the blink of an eye.

To Reena's delight, the seeds sprouted faster than she had imagined.

The antidote and vaccine were mass-produced and shipped all over the world. While Reena and her team were creating public opinion, Ethan and his team conducted several more experiments, finding other, more common herbs to replace the less common ones.

Ethan and his team brought out all the devices that could still store power, and started live streaming from various places to prove to Reena and the others that they were truly giving up their power voluntarily.

Golden specks of light floated from their bodies, drifted into the sky, and gradually disappeared into the horizon.

Meanwhile, Ethan watched helplessly as one device after another was rapidly filled.

Not having a premonition enough, they hurriedly rushed to create some more.

Seeing so many devices gradually filling up should have been a cause for celebration, but for some reason, Ethan felt something was off.

This world seems a little strange.

But Ethan didn't know what was wrong, so he could only suppress his inexplicable unease.

The completely filled devices were piled up into a small mountain, and the event, in which all the superpowered individuals participated and contributed their power, slowly came to an end.

many……

Ethan looked up in amazement from the shadow of the hill of installations.

This should be enough, right? If they were to collect them one by one, it would take forever.

With such immense power, is it possible to fight against that being?

Ethan was uncertain. Maybe it was enough, but they still needed to find their last companion, the Frenchwoman, Ms. Bertha.

After discussing it with their companions, they all felt it was about time, so they decided to start their journey again.

After saying goodbye to Reena and the others in this world, Ethan and his companions quickly disappeared into the portal.

Ternas was the last one to go in.

He took a deep look at Tenas and Reena before stepping into the portal, then looked at Nadia waving goodbye before turning and disappearing into the portal.

“Hmm…” Tenas pretended to think, “He seems to have discovered it.”

“Yes, he found out.” Reena raised her eyes indifferently, giving Tenas a positive reply: “But he’s already gone, and there’s nothing he can do. They are still the beneficiaries and have no right to judge our actions.”

Nadia looked completely bewildered, utterly clueless: "What are you talking about?"

“It’s nothing.” Reena’s furrowed brows relaxed, and she said casually, “Just some trivial matters.”

Tenas smiled and fooled Nadia.

Ethan and his group have now left, but there are still some lingering issues.

Since those abilities were given to Ethan voluntarily, what about those guys who appeared to be voluntary but were actually not?

That's what Reena and Tenas did.

Generally speaking, such people are the type to bully others, because normal people wouldn't give up a peaceful life to want to have superhuman strength and get what they want.

If we can control it, we will; if we can't, we'll have to resort to some tough measures. Society is currently undergoing a transformation, slowly returning to its former state, and we don't need so many uncertainties.

Reena and Tenas are very busy, working non-stop every day. They even shared some work with Nadia, making her a poor corporate slave as well.

"I can't go on—" Nadia collapsed onto the sofa, her voice quickly becoming indistinct: "So sleepy... I want to sleep so badly... but why is there still so much work to do..."

Reena, with heavy dark circles under her eyes, was flipping through documents.

"Why don't you go take a break?" Tenas placed a cup of coffee on Reena's table with a tray, looking at Nadia with a somewhat helpless smile before returning to Reena: "Extra strong coffee, your preferred flavor, zero sugar."

Reena picked up her coffee and took a sip without looking up, still wearily looking at the documents.

Something must have struck a nerve with Nadia, because she suddenly snapped out of her daze and sat bolt upright, as if on the verge of death: "No way! You've all been working for half a month, sleeping only ten hours a night for three days straight. I'm not going to let you outdo me! Tenas! I want coffee too!"

“Then you’ll need to sleep in tomorrow. We’re used to it, but you’re not.” Tenas shrugged, picked up the sugar jar from the tray, threw a few sugar cubes into one of his coffee cups, stirred it with a coffee spoon to dissolve the sugar in the hot coffee, and after stirring for a while, he put it on the table in front of the sofa: “70% sugar.”

Nadia picked it up and started drinking, her drowsiness slowly subsiding.

Tenas yawned, his eyes welling up with tears from sleepiness.

He sat down next to Nafia, sipping his coffee and racking his brains for work, trying to figure out how to handle the situation and clear his head.

Those who still possess superpowers are now considered heretics by all nations.

Because they didn't fully utilize their superpowers, they still wanted to use them to do whatever they wanted. Society didn't welcome them, so naturally, they became wanted criminals.

If they are at least under the government's supervision, that would be better. Although they would be restricted in various places, society would be more tolerant of them. At least not everyone who has lost their abilities would treat the supervised superhumans as criminals.

Although their rights are still weaker than those of ordinary people, at least they no longer have to run around and live in fear like before.

The government has even established a special team to capture people with superpowers. As long as a person with superpowers shows any danger, the capture team will use all means to subdue or deal with them on the spot, and all kinds of weapons can be deployed.

After being kept under surveillance for a long time to confirm that they have no other intentions, people with superpowers are usually placed in special departments of the country. They are not assigned any tasks, but their salaries are paid on time every month.

Although the government has taken in people with superpowers, it cannot use them casually, otherwise it will cause international problems. If they are used only as a last resort, politicians from other countries will find a way to attack their own country.

There are fewer and fewer people with superpowers now. They are either being watched or dying on the way to capture. Others who were worried that their lives might be in danger one day are gradually fading out of everyone's world and slowly being forgotten.

Author's note: I can't imagine what my writing will look like after I revise it. What am I even writing?

However, I quite like the post-apocalyptic world setting, and I might even write some side stories about what happens after the series ends.

A random thought while writing: Why don't they thank Tenas?

A: Tenas is used to serving the two of them.

If they thank

Tenas: Who are you? Give my two sisters back!
